Are there two dry lakebeds on either side of Ironwood Lake 2? Seems like one of them ought to be Lake 1.  Where did the water go?  Victims of the drought? Unused? WTF?

This facility is owned by one family and they offer yearly memberships. The main lake was getting dangerously shallow so it was drained. The other two lakes were added , but enough memberships were not sold to justify the cost of pumping the water into both. We lose an average of 1/2 “ of evaporation per day in the summer. We are safe from the drought for now , but we will see what happens when the state implements the rationing plan that is being set up now. The place is now for sale on Ski it Again. Kelly Slater tried to buy it for his wave pool lake but they could not come to terms so he bought one of the lakes up in Lemoore .

  2. Damn , I thought I was going through the DT’s while waiting on that 66” Vapor to get built , shipped , and bindings mounted. I now feel the pain of you Dinalli people 😬. Hope you found a driver. That’s a tough one when you are really psyched to ski. I hate to rub it in , but there’s always a driver around here somewhere 🤣AC310548-53A4-4078-9B9F-82558A045807.png

  3. You forgot to mention oil and keeping your eye on the engine temp. Those are the two killers of longevity in a ski boat. Must have a lot of good memories in that boat. Tough to get over the emotional attachment to some. If it fits your needs , keep her.

  4. If you’re for real , Skip , you will have no problem finding a baller willing to help you out before the move next year. You’d become a minor celebrity around here for getting back into it at your age. Doubt anyone would have a loner ski you could squeeze those huge feet into though. If your efforts at getting up are anywhere near your creative writing skills , you got this. I really liked the jet ski part. I do that with tubers. Get the boat up to a descent speed while doing circles around the tube that is staying in the center of the circles , then you straighten the boat out , give it some gas and they jump the wake. We call it a slingshot. I do see the possibilities of a jet ski slingshot with a small child on a pair of trick skis 🤷‍♂️

You remember skiing in two piece wetsuits with that flappy strap between your legs

That would be the beaver tail / long John combo. Wasn’t skiing back then , but learned to surf wearing that get up. Kids these days don’t even know what it’s like to get rashes in the arm pits from paddling around in those old wetsuits.

  6. I am in Montrose on part of a dirt bike safari trip . I pulled up on a hillside and was looking down on a beautiful ski lake. Figured if I hit up this sight I’d find a baller who skis there. Too bad riding is consuming my life and my waterski that hasn’t been ridden this season is 850 miles away from here. Might have to hit you up @Marco if I get back this way. Will trade you for rides if you ever make it to Arvin. Heck this is about the time frame that @Than_Bogan is supposed to be moving west , any progress on that  ??

  7. 9E8B29BA-E576-45E6-8E16-429FF691C932.pngLong Beach Ca used to allow skiing in the L.A. river and San Gabriel which both fed into the harbor. A portable course was used in both. Thank you Jerry Arnett. There is a power plant on the San Gabriel , so the outlet water from that warmed the channel up. Hence the name , the warm water channel. Both were shut down to boat traffic in the 90’s. Flat water , but dirty as hell , especially after the rain.

  8. Goode Power Vest will allow you to ski at your current level no problem. I used mine after rotator cuff surgery and continued to use it for my bad back. Wasn’t using it this year until I recently messed up tendons in my arm. Can barely lift anything with the bum arm , but can ski no problem. The straps on the gloves can be adjusted to get no pressure on your arms at max load.

  9. Does explain alot. That’s why I can relate with you @thager . Getting kicked in the head caused #1 , 5 from crashing my dirt bike and 1 from an out the front off the jump ramp. Scary stuff when you don’t know where you are and why you’re there. Haven’t ever thought about a helmet for slalom. If I did , I’d look into what the speed skiers use. They are thin and don’t catch water in a crash.
