  1. Calling Ron Goodman isn’t a bad idea either. At times he can be tough to get in touch with but when I was getting jumpers for my son he was pretty responsive but I did it in the fall for a Christmas time delivery. I do agree with @Bruce_Butterfield I think you are likely going to have to buy new to get a good fit for her.

  4. I think there are a lot of people on here that have skied after a herniated disc. I had back surgery in October of 2011 and skied that next year. I know many people that have skied post disc issues. I agree see a neuro surgeon for it.
  5. I think your price is a little high. A friend of mine sold a 2001 with under 1000 hours 2 years ago and I think he got 13.5K.
  6. Our club is bring your own boat and we mostly rotate except one of my buddies bought a Prostar a couple of years ago and only likes to ski behind his boat. I bring good driving skills, some coaching, a sense of humor and gas. I used to bring my boat every third set but now we mostly ski behind his boat.
  7. 56* here today and the nights are going to be cold for the next week or so which means we won’t add much to it.
  8. I think making speed is very important. The problem is if the stack isn’t good the skier is afraid of the wake which makes making speed difficult. Your 30 mph videos are misleading to people struggling to run 30 mph. You generate so much speed that you are almost changing edges before the first wake. Beginning skiers can’t do that if they could they would be running 35 off. For people learning to run the course I have always reinforced the need to work from white water to white water. I know this doesn’t translate at 28 off and shorter but I believe without it beginning skiers will never run any buoys. Working through both wakes also improves the stack which will let skiers build speed earlier. The work zone is different for someone learning to run 30 mph than someone trying to run 35 off and if you try to coach them the same I don’t think it works because the 30mph skier doesn’t have the necessary fundamentals yet.
  9. It depends on what you are running. I lost 30 pounds a few years back and probably picked up 3-5 buoys. If I remember correctly my tournament ranking went from 1.5 or 2 @35 to 4@35. I was much more consistent as well. Unfortunately I only had about a season and a half to work at improving at that weight before I had some health issues that have prevented me from trying to see how much I could continue to improve.

  11. That Synchro would be a great ski for small kids learning the course. My kids started on a 63” HO Wide ride ski that seems like it had a similar profile.
  12. My son started in the size 4 Reflex and never had any issue with it releasing. He wasn’t very small but one of our skiing partners had his daughters in them when they were young and they were much smaller than my son and never had an issue either. Cost is definitely an issue and it is pricey to get into a system. After that we tended to get at least 2 years if not more out of a boot then we could just get a bigger boot and not have to replace the rest of the platform.
  13. I put my son on a Reflex with a rtp when he was 9. It was a good move and we got a separate plate for his trick ski. If he isn’t trick skiing yet get him on one.
  14. I hated the N1. Not sure if I am the only one but I didn’t like it.
  15. We drink a little more because my kids are both home and in their early 20s so we hang out on Friday and Saturday nights and have some drinks with them which is great but definitely leading to more drinking. We try to keep the drinking during the rest of the week down.
  16. Skis made in 17 and 18 were very good skis. If it was made in 08 there has been definitely progress put 2-3 years old should be fine.
  17. H2O Proshop used to do a try and buy program. You had to put down a deposit and commit to buying a ski but you could send skis back and try different stuff. The also support tournament skiing in the Eastern Region so it is always nice to help a local company.
  18. I think it depends on what speeds you ski. I am 6’ 200 pound and ski the 67” Katana and find it easy on my body. I do ski 30 mph 22 off to 32 off on it. At slower speeds the 69 would be better and it would be easier to get up on.

  20. I don't have as much experience as many but I thought of Dube's like @lpskier. Oakham has a pretty good swim as well if you fall at 5 ball going away from the dock or 2 ball coming back. My son's first walk of shame was 9 years old at Nationals on the Turnpike lake when he fell on his opener. That was a tough one to watch.
  21. I think that body weight type exercises like pull-ups are a better example of things that help with water skiing. They are the ultimate strength to weight ratio exercise. Lean is definitely better than bulky. I am not the best example of that but wish I could be.
  22. For us I went with hit or miss. It gets used a fair amount when the water is calm. Our course gets used almost every morning and evening if there isn’t boat traffic or wind making it unsuitable. During the weekdays it doesn’t get used much because people work.
  23. Skiing is extreme and what Joel and frankly anyone that runs 39 and beyond does takes it to another step. I would never put myself in that set of bindings but I was a deep 35 skier on a good day. Personally I want releasable bindings but I can also see the thought process of having both feet in. While the falls are much slower and the lever shorter snowboards don't release. I never hurt myself on a snowboard. Interesting statistic the incident of snowboard injuries vs snow ski injuries per 1000 ski days used to be almost identical but different type of injuries. Not sure if that is still accurate.
  24. Frankly it depends on how good a skier you are, how big you are and what speed you ski at. If you are large and/or skiing slower the bigger Triumph will be better. For pretty much anything else the Vapor will be far better.
