  1. Remember the development costs for a 200V are much lower, they just rework an existing hull and interior design to accept a V drive. This looks like a whole new boat. 200V is a ski boat you can do other sports with. GS20 a wake/surf boat you can ski behind.
  2. I tried Radar Boa Inside-Out Glove for a few sets and got a blister. I switched back to my worn out Masterline Master Curves gloves while I wait for more to come back into stock. The boa was great; glove just didn’t fit. Great customer service from Performance!
  3. I set a PB 4 at 35’ off on my 2016 Vapor, my best score in many years, I switched to 34 mph a few years ago. Previously my PB was 2 at 35’ off at 36 mph. I agree the ski is very friendly as you progress up the rope.
  4. I had a pair of alpine skis damaged(tip or tail delamination) while flying and have used a SportTube ever since. I don’t think a SportTube would prevent damage from a vehicle but will help protect from dings and dents if the ski is well padded inside. Shipping via FedEx or UPS maybe safer than an airline.
  5. I have had positive experience with two RGC lifts i have owned, my current one I bought used over 10 years ago. Others on my lake have had mixed results with other brands for a variety of reasons. The RGC dealer in my area is the strongest lift/dock dealer in my region. I think any quality aluminum vertical lift should meet your needs.
  6. My O'niell Assault Hybrid dry suit. Allows me to comfortably start the season in the spring and extend into fall.
  7. In Vermont I have done alternate day skis a few times, the spring is the most conducive for this. During the record warm March of 2012, on Saint Patrick’s day we snow skied in the morning and water skied in the afternoon.
  8. The Green Mountain Waterskiers http://www.greenmountainwaterskiers.com/ in Vermont worked hard for years change our observer law and were successful in 2006. Changes shown: http://www.leg.state.vt.us/docs/legdoc.cfm?URL=/docs/2006/acts/ACT196.HTM Current Water Sports Statutes: “…An observer shall not be required if the vessel is: (1) a tow boat approved by the American Water Ski Association and equipped with a wide-angle mirror having a viewing surface of at least 48 square inches; (2) being operated by a person who is at least 18 years of age; and (3) being operated within an American Water Ski Association regulation slalom course. …” http://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/23/029/03315 When we were in the state house committee room providing testimony in mid-February we joked it was proof of how hard it can be to get a third to join for a ski sometimes. Good luck! We all have a copy of the law in the glovebox of boats to educate law enforcement and other lake users when confronted.
  9. Thanks for sharing! I hope to have funds in the next year or two to find a 196 for myself.
  10. Not what your looking for but this is a small boat with a big block: https://fortwayne.craigslist.org/boa/5267098272.html
  11. In a 7-year-old boat I would prefer a keyed ignition with regular gauges. Less to fail I the long run IMOP. I would also prefer the 6.0 that will be a fun 196.
  12. To show I am not a scammer this is a post I made a while ago after I took a detour on a long trip to check out a Nautique: http://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/forum/classified-group-buy-section/boats-for-sale-by-owner/20230-00-correct-craft-ski-nautique196-on-ebay-craigslist-beware
  13. I am not the seller. I bid on it initially, but it went above the amount I had to spend after factoring in a trailer and ZO. @MichaelGoodman sorry I brought this to your attention and you wasted a trip to see it. I can understand your frustration. I wish I had taken the time last week to look at it to save others the hassle. Thanks for posting what you found on here. It seemed like a summer camp boat, with highish hours and no speed control. Sucks the seller wasn’t straight with either of us.
  14. It appears the ’12 TXI is still available in MA. I had bid on ebay and the top bidder couldn’t finance it, so they offered it to me. I don’t have the money, but I hope somebody can research it and get a good deal on a boat. Contact the dealer for more info: relisted http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Malibu-Response-Wakeboard-Ski-Boat-No-Reserve-/221883773563 Tony's Berkshire Boats 483 W Housatonic St, Pittsfield, MA 01201 (413) 443-6475 It lacks a trailer, but has a tower. I briefly talked to the shop about it lacks a stereo, but they claim its very clean.
  15. This TXI may be worth a look: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221874037386 At first glance it appears to be a scam( LX listed but its a TXI, SC registration, no trailer, 500 hours with no speed control), but it does appear to be listed by Tony's Berkshire Boats in MA. I contacted them via eBay today. Its only 3 hours from my office and a friend has a trailer I could borrow to pick it up, I wish I had $30k to take a swing at it. Good luck in your search.
  16. JTDixon I sent you a message. Green Mountain Water Skiers: http://www.greenmountainwaterskiers.com/ is our statewide club, people own private boats. Jamie
  17. A few weeks ago I missed an 06 196 in SC with a 6.0L motor and ZO it had 350 hrs and was $20k. Probably will be a while before I see a deal like that. 6.0L would be nice since it comes with closed cooling system for my northern climate.
  18. Just missed a 06 196 with 6.0 409 HP and Zero Off in SC for $20k, 250ish hrs. A deal like that is hard to find but when you do it makes a conversion hard to justify.
  19. I agree a Zero Off boat with around 1,000 hours for 22-25k is an attractive option for example: http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2009-Correct-Craft-196-650546
  20. This is a good list to start with: http://www.tylerskiclub.com/usedboat.html
  21. Congratulations on the boat purchase! It’s sad to see a nice Ski Nautique leave our great state, but glas it found a nice home. A new Super Air Nautique moved onto our lake(Lake Iroquois) over the weekend, I hope its not one Nautique in/one out going forward.

    92 Supra Comp

Great option from that era and the one your looking at looks clean. http://www.waterskimag.com/ski-boats/2012/06/28/five-standout-used-water-ski-boats/
  23. Thanks for the replies and advice. I got a recommendation from Chris Rossi to try a 67” Vapor Lithium. I make look for one of those. Still about 2’ of ice on the lake, but it has started to melt.
  24. I am looking for advice on what used ski to seek out. Last season I damaged the bottom of my 67” D3 Z7, falling off the platform, which I liked. I am an avid course skier on small public lake in Vermont. I am 5’11” 205lbs(hoping to get under 200 for summer), I have skied into 32’ off at 34mph, but spend most of my time at 22’-28’ off at 34mph. Some skis I am considering are a 66” Goode N1 RFF, Radar Lithium or Senate 67”or 68”, D3 Fusion 67” or 68”? I would be paring this ski with my Radar Strada bindings. Any advice or experience will be greatly appreciated!
