  1. I have 50 lbs of old wheel weights in an old 2.5 gallon plastic gas can that got a hole in the top.
  2. Seems that $500 196 was a camp boat. Amazing find, unless I am missing something. More pics are in this link: https://facebook.com/groups/1097984176981004/permalink/2265772196868857/
  3. I got a reply that the boat was sold. I hope someone got a solid project candidate.
  4. I have a Mityvac MIT7201 that works great for boat, car and small engines. Mityvac
  5. Is a marine dealer accessible that could scan and read hours from the drive train? Does it have Perfect Pass that could also list hours? Either way the boats condition and maintenance records is likely more predictive of future wear.
  6. Congratulations on the acquisition of a TSC3 SN 196. The pinnacle of 19’ ski boats. I was elated to buy this mint 08 196 in Massachusetts last summer. I see your lift canopy has sides. A waterline cover is alsa great way to preserve a boat.

  8. @APB are you looking to buy the 197 or upgrade a boat you already have? When I was looking for a boat with ZO it seemed to make sense to buy a boat with Zero Off rather than convert an earlier boat(ZO boat prices have gone down to $20-30k and conversion parts have gone up). Different calculation if you already own the boat.
  9. Post #6 of this thread explains it well: http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=27486 "Early 2008 -The world of speed control and tournament skiing is about to be turned upside down by this ZO/PP deal. To make matters worse, ZO and PP are battling over the patent for the GPS differential speed control technology that makes ZO work. PP releases StarGazer. MC releases the 08' TT 197. All 100 boats will have dual installs via the same E-controls multiplug ECM. MC is not allowed to physically install the ZO head into the TT 197 dash, due to some sort of licensing or marketing agreement, probably due to the CC/ZO relationship. TT drivers must do the install themselves. No biggy, takes 5 minutes. Production MCX's still have the standard ECM that cannot talk to ZO. CC promo boats will mostly be ZO. Malibu is in the dark - without the ability to do a ZO install. Summer 2008 - PP and ZO reach an agreement. ZO gets all OEM drive by wire speed control business starting with the 09' model year. Skiers are complaining about early versions of ZO. Diehard perfect pass skiers are flipped out because they can't even upgrade their boats to ZO to practice. The only time they see it is at tournaments or upgrade for 50-60K with a new DBW boat. StarGazer has it's own set of issues. The forums are alive with arguments and bad info." Possible to convert any Vortex 5.7L to E-controls ECM, varies on how involved and expensive.
  10. 250' from my house to the small public lake I ski on.
  11. I had a similar issue with my 99 MC SportStar, using the horn would cause the PerfectPass to cut out. I rarely used the horn so I never bothered to investigate it further. PP does seem sensitive to voltage drops.
  12. A thread about ProStar’s up until 2009: MC TeamTalk ProStar Thread Previously I had a 99 SportStar(which is on the 95-97 hull) great wake, great power, not great tracking. This is the same hull as the, late model 19Skier, X5 and ProStar 195 mentioned above

    Malibu sunsetters

Sunsetter LXI’s ski great for their size. Currently two friends have them and my neighbor used to have one. The 19’ boats of the era have a shorter wake, but the Sunsetter LXI’s wake shouldn’t hold any skier back. If you’re a skier you want to hold out for the LXI with the diamond hull.

With the correct picture its easy to idenity an LXI, the transom extends past the the running surface. Great skiing boat for its era and size.
  16. For sale pricing for 150 CC 196’s from April 2016 through May 2019. I complied this list while searching for my 196.
  17. Another 196 pricing source for you https://www.ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/14485/so-you-want-to-know-what-a-tsc-hulled-196-might-be-worth-whats-for-sale
  18. @Dockoelboto Your welcome, I hope the data helps you. Not many 196s with Zero Off available at the moment. This 07 196 is across the country in New York. I suspect you could adjust your lift to another hull fairly easily. Good luck in your search!
  19. I have a spreadsheet I used to track 196 pricing for a few years while I was looking for a boat. I will send you a PM, to send it to you. It has advertised pricing for 150 196s going back to 2016. I would recommend you prioritize condition and care(maintenance) over hours. If your budget allows for a $20k+ boat I would recommend you stretch for one with Zero Off, even if you don’t ski tournaments. If everybody else has ZO boats on the lake, they aren’t going to want to go back to Perfect Pass. The 02-06 196 with GM 5.7L PCM EXE 330 hp engines can be converted to ZO, but I found the price difference from them to 07-09 boats with ZO made the conversion unappealing.
  20. @skiinxs that is an impressive camera. Anybody have suggestions for a camera and weather station to run on 12 volts? I can get WIFI to my boat lift with a range extender, but I would need to run the equipment off a battery and solar panel.
  21. @BoneHead I am gong to disagree that MasterCraft has always had long runs of ProStar hulls. From late seventies to 2001 the MasterCraft skiboat was updated frequently(3 year cycle 87-2001), often with some notable changes between years. Admittedly this was a different era for waterskiing. This is a brief summary: 1968-1976 Skier 1977-1979 Skier 1980-1985 standard and PowerSlot (1983+ wood free) 1986 Transition Year(earlier deck, newer hull, unique interior and graphics) 1987-1990 ProStar 190 1991-1994 ProStar 190 1995-1997 ProStar 190 1998-2000 ProStar 190 2001-2013 Prostar 190/197 EVO Hull(2002TT + 2003+ with hook) 2014+ ProStar ProStar History Thread I haven’t skied behind the current ProStar, however it sounds like an outstanding boat. Ilmor will need transition to a newer base motor when the 5.7L stock runs out.
  22. What year is the Mastercraft and what motor does it have? Roughly needs to be 07/08+ or newer with an e-controls ECU to install ZO easily.
  23. Gongrats on the achievement. I have done it a few times in Vermont, always a memorable day.
  24. The ice went of Lake Iroquois in north western Vermont earlier in the week. I will be getting my boat out of storage the 27th. It was a great winter ski season in northern Vermont.
