  1. Thanks for the advice. I will move forward with location A having the new puck covering the OE hole. @thager the mount is off center and will be on the port side of the puck with the arrow facing forward so I don’t think it is possible to utilize the exact location of the OE hole. 2. I am preparing to replace the original dual Garmin pucks on my 2008 Ski Nautique 196 with the ECI single puck. I have reviewed Freddy’s videos. Where on the bow have people placed the single puck on a TSC3 hull? Is it possible to cover up the hole from the original Garmin puck? Any other lessons learned from this upgrade? I am thinking I will use a 1” hole saw to drill the hole and bevel the edges with a stone grinding wheel. Thanks in advance for your advice and input. OE Garmin Location 2 Location Options A & B
  3. I don’t know the details of where you agreed to have the reflectors. Could you add them in locations outside of the normal boat or skier path? Perhaps extra markers outside of the 45’s or other locations.
  4. 07 in Georgia with 550 on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175274608719 There is another 2,500 hour 07 on ebay as well. I enjoy and cherish my 2008 196.
  5. I have enjoyed many sets behind a neighbor's boat that was similarly configured to that boat. It is sharp looking from the exterior I hope the interior cleans up, but it appears damaged in the limited pics. 110 hours is low, any maintenance records. I think people prefer the later editions of that hull when it went to PCM/Crusader power and the engine was moved forward a bit. Would make a great open water ski boat and a good price point for a boat that could easily have ZeroOff installed. Why did you part with the 206 last summer?
  6. @Sedge do you offer training loops such as an extra loop between 15' and 22' or 22' and 28'?
  7. Personally, it was my 88 Prostar, my first inboard ski boat. It was white with a black stripe 351 240 hp with Powerslot transmission. I also enjoyed my 99 closed bow SportStar which used the 95-97 Prostar hull. This Team Talk thread does a good job reviewing the various years of the Prostar. https://teamtalk.mastercraft.com/forum/general-mastercraft-topics/general-discussion/28871-mastercraft-skier-prostar-prostar-190-a-history-1968-2009
  8. Yes it seems the boat market is very hot, perhaps even hotter than the car market. I did learn of this search in Only Inboards to find some recent sales data: https://www.onlyinboards.com/SoldBoats.aspx?fbclid=IwAR3xwYrun7-HE37Q8o-Bi1eDUPJF7yM3wk1ydaMWSd8JMAipFMgoAs_EQ-Q Good luck in your search. I tracked prices on CC 196 for a period prior to finding my 08 so I knew the market pricing and felt comfortable jumping when I found the right boat.
  9. 14 6.2’s have the same ratio trans than the 5.7L. But I think the 6.2 had plenty of power to not have the issue. By 2016 AWSA had dropped the 1.22:1 5.7L Prostar's from the approved boat list. I hope it’s legit but, be cautious with that black 6.2. Picks look similar to one posted previously in Florida using pics scraped from a boat for sale in Australia.
  10. Beautiful boat, I am a fan of white boats. I am in the minority liking the later TSC 1 boats with the N graphic, the thin outline of the graphic is sweet. Good luck with the sale!
  11. I wear 8-1/2 shoes, size 9 in the Carbitex.
  12. 07 X14 in CT with MCX and 900 hours, $32k. Interior could use some attention. https://www.facebook.com/commerce/listing/274140567938868/
  13. I think it is worth pointing out that the Sunsetter LXI was the best skiing large boat at the turn of the century. Two of my friends have them. Since then, the TXI, Prostar and Nautiques have gotten larger. All are 20’ to avoid flotation requirements, they have added width for space and wake. Depending on where you want the space the late model boats may serve you well. Improvements in rough water handling will be limited given the goals in the course.
  14. The Malibu Sunsetter LXI ski great and are a fantastic option if Zero Off is a priority. I have always wanted to ski behind a MC 214. Checkout this 214 from a camp that has 4,600 hours! https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/994725821104821
  15. That hull is sensitive to loading. When I had one, I found it tracked allot better when it was level. If you have only a driver or a weight discrepancy between driver and observer, get some movable weight to level the boat out.
  16. O'Neill Assault Hybrid Drysuit & 19' direct drive ski boats
  17. It is a bit of a drive, but I would recommend Ski Marine in Williston VT. Ken operates is a great small independent marine repair shop that likes to work on inboards. http://www.skimarine.net/
  18. I have one set behind my neighbors new 21 TXI with the 5.3DI, so far so good. The partial closed cooling on the new Malibu motors is nice for those of us in the north. I look forward to a head to head comparison with the 17 6.0 TXI I also ski behind.
  19. Two of my friends have Infinity’s that they love, I occasionally ski with them. Even they avoid the 22’ bump, by skiing at a different length. While the boat has its flaws(wake, handling, transmission noise, fit and finish...), it did foreshadow the larger and wider boats of the current era. The ZX-1 makes my CC 196 feel narrow the same way a late model TXI does.
  20. I have the Radar sleeve, great built in fin protector.
  21. Sunsetter LXI’s have a remarkably good slalom wake for the size and era of the boat. I have two friends with them and a third used to own one. The the price of these boats has also reflected that over the years. The I in LXI is key, look for the extension of the stern over the running surface, this indicates the SV23 diamond slalom hull, vs the SV23 wake boarding hull of the LX's. 2002 LX's may also be on the diamond hull. I recommend doing a little research on themalibucrew.com to confirm the years. The extra 8" off the stern is the easiest visual cue to confirm.
  22. Sorry to learn of your ACL injury. As the spouse of someone who had an ACL replaced at age 18 and 36, I would encourage you to get your ACL replace soon. My wife is now battling multiple areas of deterioration in her knee some possibly attributed to the year she competed alpine skiing without an ACL. It is important to consider the ACL graft used in the procedure, also think of the surgeon, procedure, hospital and physical therapy as a system. The type of graft is just one factor in the outcome.
  23. @Jaypro we skied on Iroquois Friday and Saturday. Earliest for me in VT since 2012, when I skied on Saint Patricks day. I even got my boat lift in a month early.
  24. I have moved boat lifts over water with a 14’ aluminum boat, float bags and modular plastic dock. For short and moderate distances, the modular plastic dock works best. Twice a year we move four lifts with a length of my modular dock. For the hydraulic cantilever lift, we strap the dock to the cradle and lower it so the whole lift floats. Now I typically use the 14’ boat to tow rather than the ski boats.
