  1. Interesting. I had the same issue 2 months ago with the spring breaking. Couldn’t find a replacement spring without buying a whole new assembly. I ended up putting in 2 springs from old ballpoint pens and it works ok. Much less resistance but locks into place pretty reliably. At some point I may replace with a stiffer spring but the 2 springs out of a pen is adequate.
  2. @klindy the big Goode is only for the PLUS size girls. I don’t know jgillis but hope she’s a long away from needing the big ski;)
  3. @jgills88 no matter how you like trick on the $20 board, you will like it alot more on a 43" Quantum, D3 or Radar. I work with a good number of college kids and watching them on the ancient "team skis", then something modern is a night and day difference. On the plus side, getting a Reflex will make a huge improvement.
  4. Skis of pretty much all brands have had similar breakages over the years. My guess is that its a manufacturing defect such as air bubbles in the epoxy, improperly cured, or outdated epoxys that are possible causes. This is simply a very small percentage of the build process that has a "lemon" ski and not indicative of any brand or model.
  5. The max pressure for any given tire should be listed on the sidewall of the tire. The tire is the critical point, not the trailer. Its also important to keep in mind that tires "age out" well before they wear out - you obviously experienced what happens. Its wise to replace your tires every 4 years if you are trailering any distance.
  6. You should also epoxy the old holes. JB weld or pretty any 2 part epoxy works well. And keep your eye out for a "modern" trick ski now that you have the binding:)
  7. We had a similar problem with otters a few years ago. They liked to chew the anchor line right at the anchor and we ended up having to drop several new anchors since we couldn’t find the old ones in the e mud. A partial solution I used was to put a short (2’ or so) piece of 2” pvc over the anchor lime. So at least if they chewed the line I could find the remaining line and anchor. The only real solution is your favorite type of lead poisoning.
  8. @WoodySkier at 60 lbs and the right size ski, you may be able to slow all the way down to 15 or so. I also recommend long line. Its very important that they be able to run several passes (minimum 3, 4-5 is better) before getting to the one they miss. You want to build repetition and good habits that are much easier at slower speeds.
  9. @jnan66 that sounds odd. I'm not that familiar with Reflex tricks, but all the other major brands have the inserts positioned to get major bindings close to the right spot. I would double check where the center of your inside ankle bone (left side if RFF) is relative to the Wiley. Use a Sharpie to mark the center of your ankle, then put the boot on and use a straight edge and line up with the Sharpie mark and mark the plate. It can be a challenge to see inside the binding so be persistent. Then mark the center of the ski and put the binding mark 6-9 mm forward of the center. If its still off you may need to drill new holes in the Wiley or try a different binding. FWIW, the majority of trick skiers use hardshells vs Rubber bindings, so the FM is a reasonable choice.
  10. The angle of the toe plate isn't that far off - most skiers run very close to 45deg, but don't be afraid to experiment and see where you are more comfortable. However, it does look like the rear plate is too far back. As a rule for beginning and intermediate trickers you want the rear toe plate as close to the front binding as you can get it. Once you start doing flips and ski lines, then more separation can help. As for slalom and trick opposite foot forward, that's weird and just plain stupid unless you are Joel Poland.
  11. @usawaterskiHQ all of us got the "SCAM" email asking us to "verify our membership information" that was done by an outside organization. This scam had nothing to do with verifying our membership information, but want to "tell our story", then either pay to have the story told, or they would help with renewing membership. To be charitable, this type of activity is dishonest and should not be used. So how many members were renewed with this scam that otherwise would not have renewed? Call it what you will, but anyone recruited or renewed with this method would not be a regular tournament skier.
  12. Without knowing exactly why he was kicked out, none of us have enough knowledge to make an informed decision if he should be allowed back or not. And then none of our votes count anyway. When you run a website, or pretty much any other business, the owner makes the rules.
  13. Well at least now we know what became of he who is forgotten
  14. Wait a minute! @thager is in Southern Canada. That looks ALOT more like MS. C'mon @Horton, get your pics right.
  15. @MarcusBrown it seems you have been getting horton's scotch. And the cheap stuff at that. B)
  16. Lots of good info in this thread: /forum#/discussion/26594/post-rotator-cuff-surgery-goode-power-vest/p1
  17. Caution, caution, caution. Those skis should be fine for ploppers less than 50' or so. For that level of skier you can duck tape and JB weld most issues, just keep an eye out and if anything concerns you don't let anyone go over the ramp with them. Fine for riding and beginner skiers . Sorry if I was Captain Obvious :o
  18. Hacksaw and file the tight area.
  19. @skierjp right. There is 1 SN in Austin area and 1 north of Dallas. That's about a 4 hour drive and both were committed. Simple fact is that there are way more tournaments than promo boats.
  20. There is a grand total of 1 SN promo in the north Texas area. I don't know of any MC or Malibu promos in the area. For @disland tournament, the SN promo was committed to a Record tournament in Arkansas, so there were basically no promo boats available within a 5 hour drive.
  21. Re rotator cuff… I had shoulder pain for around 15 years that was most likely due to partial and increasing suprispinatus tearing. Tears caused by age and years of use/abuse don’t heal on their own. What is HUGHLY beneficial is a good PT/strength program that gets the smaller supporting muscles stronger and help keep the shoulder in proper alignment. This really helps the pain and discomfort of the torn tendons. But this only slows the inevitable, not reverse it. I’m 21 months out from right shoulder surgery and have full strength and zero pain. Left shoulder is 9 months out with 80-90%strength and moderate discomfort. The surgery and recovery suck but long term is well worth it.
  22. Replacing steering cable is a regular maintenance item. No way to lubricate. Discount inboard marine is an excellent source for parts. www.skidim.com
  23. @lpskier you just earned another panda for your collection! That ski isn’t anything a new tricker should be using.
  24. Spark plugs at 300 hrs? No way. Maybe 30 years ago but with a modern engine you look at 1000 hr plugs and wonder if you should keep them in. Sounds like you need a new dealer or at least someone knowledge about promo boats. Uhhh. Cap and rotor??? Electronic ignition made those obsolete years ago
