  1. It so does not suck to be you, Horton. Hope I draw the bu at INT Regionals. See you you at Diablo.
  2. Once again, Horton speaks the truth. When will we see the rumored RPM ZO module to put an end to the beatings?
  3. Brand new 67, black top, green base, never mounted or skied, factory box and packing
  4. Become very popular by obtaining large trailer, fill it with many thousands of PA gear, learn to talk about skiers and most importantly know how to work an iPod, obtain a large motorhome to pull said trailer, fill the trailer with a jeep to jockey all the PA gear, then donate your time, equipment and fuel to get to tournaments across the country. Pay sucks but boy what fun. BTW don't ever complain when someone breaks any of your gear.

  6. From today at Crystal Mtn Washington
  7. Looks like fun, I packed up the dry suit and headed south. Yesterday 0 boats on Ski Paridise, 1 on 1 of 3 lakes at Ski West, nobody home at Adobe. Skied today at Gurrnets in Arvin, water 61, air 70, 1 other boat on the lake. Washington skiers are tough ! The Cali boys apparently call it a season when the water drops to 70. Never did see Horton out.
  8. Thanks for the invite, would love to hang with the Villa Lagos posse. Am doing the LAX deal this trip, up to Bako then back to LA for a seminar. Wish you guys would convoy up to Winlock next summer, I've got a whole lake with 3 skiers just waiting to be shredded.
  9. Uncle Craig here, So I have a few free days in Bakersfield this weekend, how's chances of a pull or two in Arvin ? Moderate skiing skill set, and I'm great at wiping boats down and agreeing on whatever you say !
  10. Uncle Craig here for you INT fans, Winlock Waters Washington in the summer, ski slopes in the winter, Crystal Mtn, Snowbird etc. Just moved into Mens 6, turned 60 a week ago, absolutely no threat to anyone on the rankings list, although I did lead regionals fot the 1st 9 skiers this year in Mens 5. I've been fortunate to be involved with Rick,Jac and INT since the mid 90s, took me forever to run 15 off, much less do it at 55k ! Every now and then I surprise myself and run into -32 now days. I'm exceptional grateful to have had the opportunity to travel around announce and ski at all of the INT US Championships, except the one I missed in 2005 due to open heart surgery. Guess that was an excused absence. I've been hitting a few sanctioned events the last couple of years, had the opportunity to be Chief Announcer at this years Regionals in Caldwell, Id. I suppose I'm a better talker than skier, which is a good thing cuz I sure couldn't make a living skiing. All in all I'm very impressed with all the folks I've met at INT and AWSA, hell I even ski with some of them from time to time. Always an open invitation for ballers at Winlock, 3 lakes to choose from and lots of green up here in Washington.
  11. Super quality young man, really stepped up his game on and off the water at Regionals. Prayers.
  12. Wow, Meecham and Horton at the same time, kinda like chocolate milk and tequila shooters to cure a hangover...hmmmmm
  13. FS, 2 lots on Winlock Waters, 2 196's misc ski gear, wet suits, course supplies, instructional videos and the coveted "How to love falling with Zero Off" self help series, soon to be supplemented for the stainless steel tow rope and GPS steering. I quit. That is all.
  14. Right on Karl, succinct analysis as always. I was asked over and over at Regionals "how come the INT events are so much fun ? How can we make AWSA more fun ? The problem and the soloution permeate the tournament culture. Classic example was the morning flag ceremony. I was schooled that Presentation of the Colors was always done in a respectful manner, yet we had to combine the flag run with a "simulation pass" to appease the elite officials, as they say on TV "give me a break " RE officials ratings : I've had one fellow who did a great job announcing do some research on getting an announcing rating, from his work looks like it's going to take me several years to become a rated announcer LOL, WTF. The fun factor in my limited perspective comes from the "event" focus, rather than ratings and record chasing. The Bud and Coors tours were presented as events, vendors were there with tons of stuff for sale, boat mfgs had displays, there were on and off the water entertainment segments, a "party on" atmosphere where spectators mingled with the stars. I am conviniced that somewhere along the line, perhaps as the 4&5 skiers move on and a new guard comes in that some new energy will find it's way back in. Our culture now is focused on a sport of attainment: rankings, records and ratings as opposed to level playing field competition. I get off on events where I ski with folks working on the passes and issues I am, I love seeing the high end guys go deep but most of the time I can't tell who's on the water , let alone what line length. Sounds like you have really put Placid Waters on the map. Great job. That is all.
  15. Killer week. Loaded all of the PA up and hit the road to Winlock this AM. Great to do the name and faces thing. Mind still blurred from calling so many passes. MB was the man with the 41. Washington skier Kelly Bolander head to head with Goode was great. Watching Matt Brown making Badal work was a treat. Braden getting pulled into the boat after nasty digger in slalom then jumping a couple hours later showed the resiliancy of youth. That is all.
  16. Hey, you guys keep it down. I've got to get up early to get the music started. What's better than waking up to AC DC
  17. Checked out the Broadside yesterday, Barry and Deb have worked their butts off, grass is golf course green, shorelines are perfect, vendors lined up for food and goodies. You may not see me there but you will definitely hear me. Horton has schooled me in cali style announcing and fixed my stutter off 5 ball too.
  18. Hey, I'm on my way down now, stopping at Villa Lagos, Sunset and Paquett's to get used to the warm. It was 50 and pouring buckets when I pulled out of Winlock Waters on Wendsday. See you there.
  19. Congratulations SARGENT Friendly. Even at Crystal Mountain your exploits are legendary.
  20. Strange responses indeed, here I though I'd receive insightful responses from my comicbook heroes on the lastest technique innovations. The concept is to accelerate and move the ski toward the wake at the completion of the turn and then iniate edge change at the wake. After wathing Jon from the boat it was apparent this dramaticly increased cross course speed allowing the ski to gain width and apex just outside the bouy line with more control. Take a look at the 2 turns in Terry Winters new video fir a a more graphic representation. Guess I'll pack up the lake stuff and head for the mountains for some early season skinning as opposed to sking.
  21. Has anyone heard about "shooting the ski" ? I watched a NorCal skier (Jon Andrews) last week expand on WCS by radically initiating movement from ankles, knees and hips to get the ski moving cross course prior to getting the free hand back on the handle. Idea presented was that simply standing on the ski as it turned was not enough. I've played with it a little and found timing to be a challenge, but wow, when I can get it right three turns in a row the speed in unbeliveable. Thoughts ? BTW Horton the partners have retured to Washington for the season.
  22. Lurking at the end of Adobe in my Motorhome. Find me if you can :)
  23. You might give KX- PX 10 to 25 a try. This setup rewards technicley correct skiing much like ZO and gives a similar throttle reaction to the current C settings. If you are on the handle too soon/ on too late you will not find any forgiveness. I have yet to find a benifit to practicing 16.80s and maintaining a tightline with PP and then hopping on a ZO boat. BˇW did I see you down as designaed announcer at the last SkiWest tourneys ? I'll be the guy with Washington plates.
  24. Way cool..can I borrow it when you're done. I need a movie per nite for the Cali trip. Any suggestions ?
