  1. I just got my US Gear mainline (standard) this week. I put a good stretch on it for 25-30 minutes (~300lbs). Let is relax for 10 mins or so. Then put another good stretch on it and let it relax. Put the 44lbs on it and it measured within 1/2-1" short of actual at all loops. At this point I presume with a little skiing it will settle in and end up near actual. I'm pretty happy right now.

Truthfully I've been buying my mainlines from Brenda for quite a few years and they've been great. I thought I'd try/test this mainline because of the way the loops are mfr'd and it will be used in a "club" boat. If something ends up wacky in the next month I'll report back. It's appears to be a good quailty mainline.

@richarddoane I'm guessing your rope is long?

@skierjp If you took the loops on any mfrs rope and lengthend them you would have a long rope. I'm confused. Want to clarify what you're thinking?

  2. @Wish restriction wise, one 4" exhaust pipe is slightly smaller than two 3" exhaust pipes. But it's negligible. @Than_Bogan could probalby geek you all up on it. As a dumb plumber all I know is a 4" waste pipe will handle nearly twice as many fixtures as a 3".
  3. When it comes time for your divison to ski you have more time than you think. Unless you're one of the first 3 off the dock in your division you have a little bit of time. This doesn't mean you shouldn't be ready because the people running the tourney will demand it but... if standing on the starting dock is going to turn you into a basket case before you ski, you can get your gear down there and ready, but you can stay away if you are down the list aways. 5 skiers is roughly a 1/2 hour if conditions are good and everyone is skiing their 3-4 passes. So, if your 8th off the dock out of 10 skiers in your divison, you have some time.
  4. Feedback... 10-4. I'm currently on the 66. Skied them both last fall a few sets and decided on the 66. Lost 5+lbs over winter and will be skiing the 65 again in the next week or so. It's a great ski. I'll give ya'll the run down after the re-test ride.
  5. So, if you were to recommend a ski size for a guy weighing 150lbs, runs a fair amount of -35s, mid 38, 34mph... would it be a 65"? That's what the D3 site says. And it seems to be accurate according to you guys skiing on them, it just seems small to me. That said, for you all that skied your normal length ski and chose the size down, what made you do so?
  6. We are in need of a couple new ropes so, I showed the video to my #1 rope changer, boat driver, support team etc. and she (the wife) has a question. Well her first question was, "why did he cut the video short by not showing how to get the rope off the pylon and change line lengths?" So that's her question. She wants to be as efficient as possible when she's the only one in the boat doing all the tasks.

I suspect, and told her, you probably just pull on the previous line length (28 off in your video) to loosen. And I also I tried to reassure her we could figure it out once we got the rope. However... & apparently... my 20+ year track record of trying to explain these type of things to her, has her convinced the rope will never be able to be removed from the pylon. Go figure.

So, a brief explaination please. For me. Please.

  7. I will be in the Pensacola area the first week of June (June 1 - 6) . I'm looking to catch a ski ride on a couple days if possible. I realize Cory's place is fairly close, and I've skied there before, but this partiqular trip may not allow me to take a whole day to go ski. Let alone I'd like to ski a couple different days if possible. I will be staying with family and they are actually located west of Pensacola out near Perdido Key. Is there any other place that would welcome someone to ski? Ski Watch maybe?

    Thanks, Jim

  8. I'm just curious how long this date has been set? And how do you find out about it or where is it posted other than here. I've had one of my ratings downgraded and do need a clinic to get it back/reinstated/whatever. But this is pretty short notice. Don't get me wrong here, I sincerely appreciate the fact we have John & Lucie here in the NW to hold clinics of any & all calibers, but I'm/we're not going to make it this weekend. And once J&L decide to give it up, those will be some big shoes to fill. If they can be. Love 'em both to death as they've been real good to me over the years.

    Jim

  9. As far as making it easier to run a C tourney. I'm all for that too. However, the general framework of the rule book is good and needs to be there. There's a reason it has evolved to what it is and it is not bad. It cannot be discarded IMO. We should continue to massage it but it needs to stay mostly intact.
  10. Jody, your name most likely is there because you are passionate about our sport and the direction it may or may not be heading. The other two guys are too. @boarditup responded as I was typing...

The one distinction Chet made toward the end of his letter, article, post was his appreciation of all the people & sponsors for all they do at the professional & amateur level. This pro & am type of language gets used all the time.

I posted a one line question in the thread @Horton started about the Big Dawg possibly being bad for Professional skiing. It’s about 2/3 of the way down on page one. I posted it to see if it would spur any discussion but no one picked it up.

If we separate pro from am how do we do it? Is as simple as declaring yourself professional? And if so, how does that affect the athlete that wants to go to college and ski? I guess he/she does not declare. Easy enough. Would an amateur be allowed to ski in a pro event? Maybe not all of them but some. Say the US Open if they qualify with a high enough score. I think it’s doable but someone is going to have to sell it.

  11. For me being LFF, the sensation I sometimes feel when I put to much pressure on my right side/shoulder heading to 1 ball is (blocking as @Sethski stated)... I get stuck on my front foot. My ski does not release out, my edge change is sluggish, or slow and I end up with less space before the ball.
  12. Ice on most all the lakes around here still. 4-5" of snow at my house this morning and about 2" or so in town. The ski resorts are reporting anywhere from 10" to 20" in the last 2 days. My ski won't come out of storage for a few more weeks anyway. Well my water ski anyway.
