  1. @Bruce_Butterfield "I don’t know what it is about lefties but locking the front leg is almost exclusively a leftie problem" I'll tell you why, they have the wrong foot forward and are too stubborn to admit it!! I quit counting or trying to help the left leg locker-outers. Here is the solution to this thread, YOU'VE GOT THE WRONG FOOT FORWARD, SWITCH FEET!
  2. Is that you driving @APB ? If not, now what? APB said: "This sport gets nowhere eating it’s own. It’s the reason we can’t grow on the competition side of things. going after him I think is unfair and unsportsman like. The cliques in our sport and the want to discredit others is so strong that it is cringe worthy. Great skiing Jamie, John and Will. Leave the haters in the dust"
  3. Smells like another round of wagering is in order!! Any of you rah rah guys want to put your money where your mouth is to prove a hater like me wrong? I’m open to laying odds. A record will not be approved. A batch of scores in US will not count.
  4. Alrighty then! What’s an alternative of 2 IPA’s that I can claim in the near future?? Also, it’s odd I haven’t heard of the world record being approved nor the Canadian women’s record being approved. Weird!
  5. Hi Mark, in this entire thread have you added anything of value to the topic or direction it’s going? Maybe it’s time to step up and get in on the friendly wagering or GTFO? ;)
  6. Good morning. We're getting closer. Both of these are options and my recent favorites. I can source them locally or you can have them shipped. @brettmainer @Bruce_Butterfield @MattP
  7. Scott, did you have video as per my above post? Thanks. @C5Quest
  8. Thank you Robert. That's probably a soft spot in my technique which I need to update. Time to work.
  9. interesting video and nice skiing. What are you firing muscle wise or focusing on to make this strong clean aligned position at the 1st spray: to 1 ball and out of 2 ball?
  10. bruce, i like your style but i enjoy quality IPA better. haha.
  11. @brettmainer I love it, you’ve put your money where your mouth is unlike most of the feel good kumbaya posters in this thread who aren’t honest with themselves. It’s unlikely you’ll be in west Palm any time soon and it’s even more very unlikely I’ll be on the left coast in the next four years. We can do shipped (didn’t Horton do ipa or online beer provider video) or cut a check for local purchase. What’s your favorite store local? Anyone else want in on the action? I’d consider laying odds.
  12. A challenger has appeared!! heck yeah. @brettmainer Some amazing skiers were at that tournament. Since matp has crawfished and never has replied or confirming he's taking my bet, let's talk. My prediction, a record will not be set due to technical issues OR some scores will not count. 2-6 packs, IPA my choice, within reason. Your prediction: HOORAY, EVERYONE SKIED STATISTICALLY better then a tournament is mathematically capable, all scores stands and records stand and anyone questioning the scores is just a "hater". 2 6 packs of zima or equivalent for you. deal?
  13. @MattP Just confirming, you are sure "I'm Sure", no scores will be dropped or disqualified from the tournament therefore you are taking the bet that all scores will stand. 12 pack of IPA (within reason) for me saying scores will be disqualified and you're sure they won't be I mean if this is more your thing, we can swap out your winnings .
  14. Your arms are bent across the boat. Your shoulders are tilted across the boat. Your hips are dragging across the boat. Pick two of the combination. Prove me wrong, post video. In this thread I posted some observations about “pinned elbows”. Interestingly since then, I’ve ridden in the boat more then ever and have reinforced observations ranging from 15’@32mph skiers through a few guys trying to run 35’off. https://www.ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/20628/35-off-gate-and-1-ball-what-is-wrong The three big things above all were holding them back. Not their ski setup, ZO setting, vision etc. just base fundamentals of body alignment and “lean vs pull” concept need updating.
  15. excellent. great skiing. thanks for information on the boats and ski. learned two new things today! Post some 35 video?
  16. nice skiing actually. way to stay with it. Looks like an older boat maybe with perfect pass. If you're not in the position to upgrade to a newer ZO boat, have you considered upgrading to a modern ski? That ski is putting you behind the curve from the top of the gate and then hurting you often. Looks like an older Obrien Syncro or similar? those things flat out wouldn't turn 24 just like that.
  17. @MattP Ok great, you sure are pounding the stake in the ground on this topic. Especially when you didn't crawfish on the "are you sure" stance being proven flat out wrong but just laughed it off. Seems like you have a vested interest in this when and are not wavering. Let's make it fun: IPA shipped through Hortons sponsor site he was referencing (within reason) to the winner of the wager, his choice. Wager: 1 or more of the scores will be invalidated. 1-12 pack IPA if a whole round is invalidated 2-12 packs IPA
  18. Pretty strong statement here "Check the survey and boat ecv video if you want. I’m sure it’s kosher." Really? You've reviewed it, plotted the boat path video of the OM rounds and approved it? Ok not reviewed it but personally talked with the person that has? OK not talked with them, have you pulled the video from awsa south and casually checked it out? Ok not even seen the video but are just talking from vague and general experience? OK never been there but just pulled this out of your arse? You reviewed the TC report checking all course homologation as well? "I'm sure"? based on what again? Sounds like you are so sure you could make a wager!! @MattP
  19. Very interesting post. "Be the change in the world you want to see" @ballsohard How many diversity based people have YOU taken to the lake? How many are your ski partners and if not, what are you doing about it?
  20. Totally uncomfortable. Can you imagine what he felt like to not be the guy on a HO and run a paltry 3@41? And then miss 39 will everyone else ran pb’s. Oh my!!
  21. @C5Quest it's going to be an unpopular opinion and lots of disagreement but at your line length and struggles per your words, this is probably impeding your progress tremendously: "elbows pinned "
  22. Great work. It's been fun watching you evolve this summer as you finally realized this was a mental sport and not a physical one while upgrading your approach. Not surprised either once it was obvious you actually started working at skiing versus falling in the typical mindsets of "it's just for fun" or "I don't take it seriously" while floundering around for the last 4 years not getting better. I believe in you. The real fun part is you're now becoming an actual skier instead of most who "just ski".
  23. @Zman Way to hijack someones skiing improvement and self discovery while distracting folks making it about you! You can start your own thread and post up your own video. It's easy, click "Post" Here's a thread title "My onside turns suck and i have slack - what is wrong? Help me, with video!" :D disclaimer: zman and I both have run some buoys out of "the snake pit" in Louisiana and have known each other for a while. my post is in semi-jest!
  24. As 3,000 people can do it and you are saying you can't? It's physically impossible for you to do this but everyone else can? Well that's kinda defeatist. These 3,000 people aren't that special, including me, trust me. "falling back on heels" absolutely if you have the technique of "lean back" NO. Lean against the boat off your ski. Not lean back over your fin block, absolutely you will feel like you're falling down. This is an information game of trial and error. "bad habits" is a fixed mindset perspective. "retool" or "rewrite" is a growth mindset. (Carol Dweck) I am pressing you for a light bulb moment. This skier runs 39. She's leaning against the boat and not pulling. Is she leaning off her ski or leaning over the fin block falling back?
  25. @MISkier body type, not thinking BMI but more type of build like ectomorph, endomorph etc. Meaning are you a "wiry guy" or are you solid trunk guy or you a tall skinny goofy guy(me)? The whole point is skiing is not about muscle but about how you move on the ski relative to your center of mass (com). If you've got tree trunk legs/skinny arms vs skinny legs/more mass up top, it's going to affect 1) the height of your com and 2) the ability to move on the ski to work with the boat. Your video posted above does take courage to post it on an open forum. Main thing I see is your skiing with muscle and not your frame. You're trying to accelerate using your arms/back/check. Like you're pulling. That's great for perfect pass but does not work with ZO. Look at the better skiers, they have a leaning position not a pulling position. With the stronger engines and zero off, until you rewrite your basic fundamentals, you'll never own any real shortline passes and will be fighting being banged up. Check out this video of a skier that runs legit 41's. his arms are straight, his shoulders are level and his ass isn't dragging across the boat. He's using his frame and he's leaning on the boat. His elbows are ON his vest not pinned to the outside. Sure he's in great physical shape but he's not muscling across the boat. hat tip to @Joelh https://www.instagram.com/p/CEKlhNKBeV0/
