  1. @disland - doesn't AWSA sanction 99+% of the L & R tournaments in the US. If another federation sanctioned the tournament (like Worlds @ Swiss a few years back) things could be different.
  2. My surgeon's rule was if you could do it before surgery you can do it after (except he doesn't want me running). When you are ready I wouldn't change anything - doing something thats not familiar is more likely to cause problems IMO.
  3. Thanks @adamhcaldwell ! Coach this with the shorten the rope/get high on the boat drill?
  4. @AdamCord @adamhcaldwell So when does this become relevant for beginners and kids?
  5. This is where I ended up in the Tournament on Demand discussion from this time last year: As I thought most of the resistance centers around equivalency which is driven by how we currently qualify for Regionals and Nationals. So here is what I'm thinking -- - Two separate lists, a Handicap List, and a Ranking [Traditional Tournament] List. Scores from the Ranking List feed the Handicap List. Tournament on Demand [e.g. 17H0213 for February 13, 2017] scores only feed the Handicap list. - Qualifying for Regionals and Nationals via the Ranking List remain unchanged. - Qualifying for Regionals [only] via the Handicap List requires X number of scores - it doesn't matter what the scores are to dis-incentivize cheating. - Using the Golf vernacular raw scores on the Handicap List can be sloped [or not] for the conditions the score was achieved under e.g. Class R Tournament highest to ToD with Trained Driver, Assistant Judge, un-surveyed course, non-current boat lowest. I'm thinking this helps facilitate "beer leagues" and provides an alternative path to Regionals without doing violence to the traditional structure. Also, to help grow membership send ski school students or your buddies home with a score
  6. IMO wake quality at slow speed long line is the most important thing for a beginning slalom skier and you will notice differences. I noticed the difference between generations of the CC 196 when I was starting out. TSC1 was good but I picked up a speed increment with the TSC 2. Could have been a coincidence but I noticed it immediately.
  7. Yes 5.7 engines have a cap and rotor. @Steveo - happy you found the cause of your issue.
  8. @Killer - I had a Nautique that was in the same environment and had the same symptoms - chased the fuel system for quite a while [OP says "often finding water in the gas"]. Fix was the distributor cap and rotor.
  9. When was the last time the distributor cap and rotor were changed?
  10. LSF (2 ft of water in my boathouse) and LOK seem to be ok right now but not out of the woods yet. Well wishes and prayers for ST, LACH, TM and the other ski lakes in the Houston area, don't know how they're doing.
  11. Age out at 10 yrs? Wondering why my 2007 196 with factory ZO doesn't make the cut?
  12. Bennett's has always had 2 alternatves. One $$$$ and one $$.
  13. Definitely talk to Brooks and Eddie. I am in the minority here but feel that height is just as/more important than weight for ski sizing. My son is 6'2" 135 lbs and rides a 66..5 inch slalom (35 off/36 mph) and a 43" trick ski for hands both well out of the weight ranges. He needs the extra support for his height. To me it seems logical that your sisters would love the ski and you would struggle.
  14. Trick at SMRR ran VERY FAST (2 minutes/skier) at the last Nationals held there. Caused some scratches making things even earlier - plan accordingly!
  15. The tip I give to folks having a hard time getting up is simply "keep the ski in front of you." And, yes a DD boat is better for deep water starts because it gets on plane faster than t.
  16. Arms close to vest riding straight behind the boat happens when you flex your front ankle forward. It's a drill I do at the start of the year and it does build ski strength and other good things.
  17. Compared Aliaksei's and Anna's runs. Anna is one flip (BFLSLBB v BFLF) and two 7s away in hands. And, two TWL5s away in toes (looks like she has time at the end of her toe pass TWF, TS, TWB, TF OOC). Wouldn't surprise me if she's already working on the big tricks. She's only about 16 years old. Amazing.
  18. I am NOT a high end skier/coach. I have driven for and observed many high end skiers. I learned early on that the way I could help high end skiers the most was was to be a set of eyes or butt gauge. At the start of the set I ask "is there anything you want me to look/feel for. Do you want to ask or do you want me to tell."
  19. Yes I would stay on the ski you were having success with to re-establish you deep water start, then move to the new ski.
  20. Well, at speed, slalom wakes are comparable across the brands. Because we are a 3 event family, trick wakes are a differentiator. Also, if practice sets are limited before a big tournament trick takes priority as the boat/lake makes the biggest difference in trick.
  21. Yep have a 196 at home use a SN200 in tournaments.
  22. Its about liability - $30 part saves $millions on a potential lawsuit v manufacturers. If its not there the manufacturers are liable. If its not used liability is on the operator.
