  1. Really fascinating insight from Matteo Ianni, and his borderline obsession with rubber boots was very intriguing!
  2. Map it for sure. Shockingly better feel. Then be patient and adapt. :)
  3. Two hours later; still no actual Day 3 video. Anybody have a clue?
  4. @lpskier Why do you know lots of Olympians? That seems very unusual.
  5. @owennibley In the future if you try a ski that is hurting you on your deep water start, stop using it immediately. No fin settings are gonna impact that. As much as I personally have loved almost everything Denali has sent me, I also think some people are far too patient when trying something different -- in this case very different. If you have a short season and little ski time, then you should pretty much just ask "Is this amazing right out of the box?" If you have a little more time, then you might consider "Do I feel like there is some amazing potential here?" But otherwise -- unless you're just trying crazy stuff to learn -- move on. There are tons of great skis and not every ski is ideal for every skier. If a ski is not showing you something exciting after 3 sets, it's not going to.
  6. As you may be able to tell from the sarcasm so far, I'm not sure you're going to be able to attack a ski purchase in this way. All the top skis can run some serious buoys, but I think it's hard to assign personalities to any of them. Go through @Horton's reviews if you want to get a little insight into what each does particularly well. But as a semi-official Denali shill, I will say this: If you're looking for "fun," the c-85 could make a case as the "most different" ski.
  7. VERY disappointing. Basically sold all of us to a 3rd party company. Just lost what little faith I had left in "our" organization.
  8. Guessing there were supposed to be pictures?
  9. Oh yeah, forgot to mention Regina! Sure, you can tell she's a little new to it, but she's gonna be GREAT. To be honest, I was a little surprised. Looking forward to her future commentary!!
  10. They just keep improving the product. The Lake 38 broadcast is absolutely excellent. At times, I've been a little critical of Tony, so I wanted to especially call out that he's been great in the last few broadcasts. It's so challenging to be the "MC" role, because you have to balance technical information, general hype, keeping advertisers happy, transitioning between segments, and the needs of the on-shore crowd vs. those of the remote audience. This season, Tony seems perfectly dialed in and able to juggle all of those elements deftly. SO GOOD! And Wade has really found his groove at the dock. He wasn't my favorite in the booth, but now I really look forward to what's next every time I hear "Wade's World." :) Figuring out the best possible role for each member of the crew is a testament to how much the entire TWBC team just wants to create the best possible product instead of getting into a battle of egos. MUCH respect for that!!
  11. Only remaining question: Where do I send my money?
  12. @KRoundy I was thinking the same. Guessing the location must not be considered "desirable" except for the skiing itself!?
  13. I think it's quite significant that people actually care that the broadcast is not great! If nobody was interested in watching, then this "complaint" thread wouldn't exist.
  14. The terms are quite accurate to how human vision works, but I'm totally confused how this could be a good idea. Beginners all look at the ball and ski FAR too late and narrow. Once we learn to aim way in front of the buoy, we have a chance. Of course, my head level is terrible, so I might be exactly who needs this advice, but can you try to explain how this doesn't set you on a very wrong path?
  15. Wow there's a lot there. Nautique curtly dropping her as a sponsored athlete is very disappointing. And it confirms everyone's used-to-sound-paranoid fear that competitors would be unwilling to ski their best behind "other" boats. Sad on many levels. But it's still my key take away that Jacinta freakin kicks ass!!
  16. I don't think I'm following why you would ever loosen fin block screws, but square drivers should be easy to find at any tool or hardware store.
  17. @Horton That would be simple enough. Where is that rule?
  18. Found something potentially relevant: https://www.usada.org/athletes/testing/tue/determine/ Has some links to banned lists (and DHEA is on them), but also allows inquiring about Therapeutic Use Exemption, which I've now done.
  19. A doctor recently suggested I take DHEA supplement. Some googling suggests that WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) considers this a banned substance, but I cannot find where USAWS and/or IWWF say what rules govern waterski athletes. (I also cannot find Masters Track and Field guidance, but that's a subject for a different audience.) Yes, I realize I will never actually be tested, and if this will really improve my health I might just take it regardless. But I'm at least curious whether it is officially allowed and how I could find that out.
  20. In addition, I believe the 67" will promote better learning of technique. You don't want to train yourself to fight for speed. You want to get used to generating as much speed as you possibly can!
  21. @Kimbymon Genuine question: if you play all sports right handed, why do you call yourself left handed?
  22. I think it's a huge oversimplification to call a foot "dominant." @swbca, in fact, mentioned several things that MANY people do not even prefer the same foot for. It's common to prefer kicking with a particular leg but be better at hopping on the other leg. And it's common for people to use a different plant foot even for things as similar as long jump, triple jump, and pole vault.
  23. @scoke Thanks for trying to make me a part of this -- whatever "this" is -- but, no.
  24. All the combinations exist. The only one not explicitly mentioned already is RH/RFF, which I am. There's all sorts of variation in body mechanics. In track we sometimes have people who jump from a different foot in high jump than long jump. I actually never ask people their handedness for either water-skiing or jumping. It's just about what works for that individual!
  25. Unrelated question: Is prerenege a word?
