  1. @markn HPDE is a rush! lots of similarities to turning buoys. Acceleration and g loads are addicting. Also really expensive.
  2. The ranking system as it is now is already "weighted" some what. If skier A has a PB of 4 at 38 and skies 20 tournaments a year his average will probably be close to 4 at 38. If skier B has a PB of 4 at 38 and only skies two tournaments his average will be less than skier A and is less likely to get close to his PB. Regional and Nationals should be stand alone scores. Skiing in those tournaments should be acknowledged in a meaningful way. Even if you miss your opener at Nationals at least you qualified and skied. This year the water skier magazine printed the results of Nationals but so little space was allocated to it that even with a magnifying glass you couldn't read the names. Making local tournaments more fun appealing to novice skiers is important but qualifying for Regionals and Nationals has to be exclusive and should be promoted that way.
  3. @skiinxs sums up @Horton original question. The promo team promotes the Manufacture's product. If the company doesn't see enough benefit to the program to make it worth the promo guys effort and if the promo guy doesn't see the benefit to the program then don't do it. In the past promo teams would get a new boat every year or two. That isn't necessary any more. The 200 for example was around for a long time and we could have used the original promo boats for a lot more years which would spread the cost out over a longer period of time and when the boat was worn out the factory would take it back(ownership of the promo boat should remain with the factory to begin with). There is no need for a new promo boat every year if only the color changes. If we need to increase the entry fee to compensate the promo guy for bringing the boat so be it. If there is no promo boat at the tournament the extra fee should go to whoever owns the boat, could be the LOC club or a private owner. I can't believe that there weren't enough 200's sold during that model run to make it well worth Nautique's advertising dollars to support the promo program. The same goes for Master Craft. The new boats are so good I don't see any major design changes for a number of years. Those promo boats could remain in service for years.
  4. The club is still somewhat active. I think someone at Winloc has said they want it.
  5. The term Promo means that the promo boat and (promo guy) are promoting the manufacture's product. It is the manufactures responsibility to make it worth the "promo guy" time and effort. It seems like the boat should belong to the factory and should be turned back to them when the factory wants to promote a new or better product. It is nice to ski behind the latest and greatest and if the tournament director wants to show case the latest and greatest they should be able to charge a $5 premium entry fee to cover the promo guys time and gas for the tow rig. The factory should supply the boat.
  6. The best advice I have gotten from @twhisper is that it doesn't matter what your hardest pass is or which loop you are working on the fundamentals are the same. The best way to learn a new pass is to run the previous pass over and over until it is automatic. If you haven't joined his trainingwithterrywinter you need to!
  7. I learned that where you look makes a huge difference and it is hard to change. Looking up at the apex keeps you staked and level.
  8. @Skirvind make sure no one finds your top secret fin numbers....you don't want to lose your advantage!!!
  9. Nice video. Completely off topic, Liquid Zone is the best place to ski on the Planet!!!!
  10. I just got back from skiing with @twhisper at Liquid zone and ran lots of nice passes. Skied for the first time back yesterday and could not run a pass. I could not get the right position on the gates to save my life. When I got in to drive the boat I noticed the boat was 20' past the entry gates when zero off beeped! When I blamed the crappy set on zero off and all my ski buddies asked me what i was smoking? I re mapped the boat!!!!
  11. @ozski I've been stuck at 2.5 or 3 @35 for years. This past winter I told Terry I didn't want to get to the end of the year and end up with the same scores. The video coaching revealed the weak points and we decided to just go back to the basics and start over. Terry has posted most the information and videos on his web site trainingwithterrywinter.com. Someone said in another thread that the reason this sport is so hard is because everything is interrelated and it's hard to work on one aspect. Doing drills is a good way to work on them individually. I can tell you running 28 off at 26mph is humbling.
  12. You have to really commit to making the changes necessary to improve. I spent 5 days with @twhisper at Liquid Zone in March and did drills for 5 days. It was time well spent!
  13. I think a conversation with @twhisper would be something like "shut up and ski".
  14. It's probably not accurate to talk about one isolated movement when the whole process is so dynamic. I think in reality everything is moving forward together, Feet, hips core.
  15. I don't know @Horton in one of the trainingwithterrywinter.com videos Terry talks about pushing his feet ahead as he approaches center line. I don't drink Scotch though.
  16. I am also on the double reflex system. Super shell front with a thick intuition liner: cut down white cuff with thin reflex liner in the back. Works well and releases when needed.
  17. Unfortunately optimal performance has to be accompanied by safety. I there was a binding that would increase my score by 3 buoys but would increase the chance of getting hurt by 10% I would pass.
  18. How is that short fin working for ya?
  19. @Boat030 I was just being a smart ass with the down pedal comment I think Scarlata would have been proud of that launch
  20. Mike That is ssssssssssssssssooooo cool. What would happen if you got off the down pedal sooner?
  21. @lakeaustinskier how long did it take to make the adjustment from fluid motion. what did you notice to be the biggest difference between them?
  22. I learned to ski on the one on the right
  23. @schroed got the same result. Try only hitting submit once and then wait and wait and wait it eventually loads. Whats up with the scores? Was it really windy?
