  1. probably cuz of poor core strength, having your hips squared to the boat after getting on the handle too soon. if i push my left hip bone toward 2 ball and my right hip bone toward 3 i never have a problem with breaking at the waste. on your offside you'll never be as open as your on but as stated before it'll help to get more ski in the water and help to keep you in a more stacked position.
  2. h2odawg79, ya I'm in agreement with Mr. Obermeier.http://www.ballofspray.com/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cool.gif
  3. That's what I do and it seems to work well. Fin and boots forward with the fin longer and shallower to allow for slip while trying to keep the same fin area as your stock set up for cold water and fin and boots back with the fin deeper and shorter to keep the same fin area as your stock set up for warmer water. As if anyone cares!
  4. If Chuck is offering, the Quarry probably has better conditions! I've never skied there.
  5. If you're in Menifee, you're right next door to Canyon. I was there last week and the water temp had dropped to 75 but I think it got back up to 80 due to the heat. We were 100 to 113 the week I was back. If you want to check out the site you can log on to canyonlakeskiclub.com  There is a web cam you can view to check out the site. This placed is invitation only so you're not going to be able to just drop by. You need to be called in and go thru the guard shack and all that good stuff. Get me your number so I can see about getting you hooked up with one of the guys there. The mornings are usually the best time to hook up.
  6. The thing about the channel is that you need a boat unless you can hook up with some one from Cal Skier. I have the number there if you want to try them. The conditions are usually pretty good other than afternoon wind. At Canyon you can usually find a ride if you have the right hook up. It's not a private ski lake, but it's skiing!
  7.  edit Where are you going to be? If you're in San Diego there's mission Bay ski Club which is salt water. East of there is Imperial Lakes, there's a Tourney there this weekend. North of San Diego is Canyon Lake (where I'm from) and the Quarry in Corona. I'm out of town working too but I could still possibly help you out to ski at Canyon Lake. You can e mail me at s_haines@live .com

  9. Scot Chipman has a table that he has formulated. Maybe he'll re post it. Or, you could do a search on The Waterski Forum. I know I saw it there.
  10. holy crap! he"s on fire! where at?
  11. what are looking for? Is there a hot babe on the other side of the lake?
  12. I think skidawg said it, "The rules have always seemed to b set up for trying to make the skier fail" I know a lot of guys that don't compete because of the pressure of the "Do or Die" opening pass. I've always thought that was kinda wierd that you only get one chance to succeed. Jump gets 3 tries, Trick gets a few tries (not a tricker) why not slalom?  Maybe that's where the Turn and Burn would help to relieve the pressure? Personally I could care less about the tourney, I'm just there for the fun of it all and to see if I can better my past scores.Â
  13. First and foremost I want to thank Horton for this great site and the wealth of information and entertainment it provides me and secondly I want to thank his his Dear old Dad for the vision and desire to design the ultimate ski site. Without his pioneering efforts who knows where the sport of slalom skiing would be with all of the restrictions and competition for lake time on public waterways. With that said, my name is Steven Haines. I'm 47 years old, M4. I was raised in the upper northwest corner of Montana where I learned to ski when I was 8 at our family cabin. For years I skied recreationally until my High School years when we tried to build a slalom course and failed miserably on our first attempt (we uses 1/2" emt conduit, can you say limp?). Since then I' ve been involved in 2 lake projects and started competing at No Wake Lake in Helena Mt. I now live in Canyon Lake Ca. where I'm a member of the Canyon Lake Ski Club. With work I only get to ski our local tourneys and sometimes make it out to Barstow. My TPB is 5@ 35 prior to ZO and my ZO PB is 1 @ 35. In practice my PB is 4 @ 38. I have a 95 Malibu Response and ski on older MPD wth Fluid Motion boots. If your in the area get a hold of me for a ski ride.
  14. Off topic but, What's the deal on the Quatro? Is that the new high end ski or an addition to the line up?
  15. Looks sweet! It'll be interesting to hear what the ridges are all about.
  16. Ya why? I have a friend that has a beautiful site outside of Christ Church. You going? Type in Rangiora, Nz. on Google Earth and you'll see it. I think he calls it North Brook Waters. Great people!
  17. Ya I talked to him and he was too proud to be embarrased! Keep it up!
  18. The_Krista, It doesn't hurt that your dad skis about 10 sets a year and usually runs -35 either! It must be in the genes, or maybe it's all of that training in the Canyon Lake bath tub that makes you so resilient! ha ha
  19. Krista matched the top slalom scores and out jumped everyone at Canyon Lake this past weekend. Look out, she's on fire!
  20. Not that it's going to happen but couldn't they attach a hull to a railway (of sorts) that is on the bottom of the lake that is used to propel and guide the hull down the lake. They could have complete control of the speed and path. just a thought. But again, never gonna happen!
  21. I'm already out of the game when it comes to ZO. I'm not buying a boat that can be equipped with it and I'm certainly not going to purchase a gps steering system. If they want to continue to pursue skiing at the Olympics, I think it's a great idea! But I don't see how it could help the sport of skiing if it is ever mandated in tourneys (which I highly doubt) At least I hope they're smarter than that!
