  1. Well here is the bad news first.....I ran my first set of the day on my 67" Senate C. I blew my -22 opener (I rarely do that) I ran it the second pass and then two -28 passes. The ski did not feel too good so I went to the dock thinking I maybe need to go forward on my fin. Instead I bolted on my bindings on a 67" Strada one hole forward like I have them on my Carbon Senate. RD then tells me just ride it and make some turns to see how it feels. So off I go 55K -22. I pull out and all feels good so I turn into the gates figuring I will just see how the off side turn into the gate feels. WOW, ski turns in beautifully and there I go through the gates smooth and early. I then just kept going, running a beautiful -22. My off side where I struggle the most was awsome. The ski was smooth and turned like it was on a rail. I had instant confidence so I shortened to -28.  I then ran -28 and the ski felt even better. I then shortened to -32 and ran that. I did not go any shorter, but ran another set and ran right up the line and through -32 again. I am not a very good skier in a dry suit and cold water. I ski in the winter to stay in some sort or reasonable ski shape.  So the fact I just got on the ski and ran that well was huge. The best way I can describe the feeling is I had instant confidence with the ski and smooth rail turns on my off side.  When I got out of shape the ski didn't do anything funny and let me scramble right back into the pass. When I rode it like I should, it was that much better. Why is that bad news...? I just spent a bunch of money I was not planning on spending... The good news, I now own a 67" Strada. My only advice is, don't try one if you don't have the money to buy one.....OF    ÂÂ
  2. Horton, are you going to come up to Seattle and ski with us if I get Andy to come to BroHo?ÂÂ
  3. Saw the add in the latest Water Ski magazine about Team Mapple and having him and his wife come to your lake. I looked at the info on his web site and the price is $1800 for a day. He recomends only 6 skiers, saying that will give each three sets each. Anyone had him to their lake? Is it worth $300 a skier? I am giving it some thought........
  4. Alright you all, don't make me jump in here to keep the peace.....
  5. Zip, that picture of Braden and and I is too funny. We are all howling...ÂÂ
  6. dsmart, I could not agree more... After 4 years in the Marine Corps and 20 years in LE, I know the people your talking about.  Actions, not words......OF
  7. No demotion, just more money and responsibility.....OF
  8. Video I made from on Halloween when RD and I repaired the course up at Radar...a typical day for Zippy and I....
  9. I am now the Junior Developement representitive for Washington State. I have comitted to putting on a "Best of the West" camp. I want to get a jump on setting this up. I am looking for any imput or information on coaches that are good with junior skiers in all three events. If there are any coaches that read this and are interested in coming out for a couple of days at the end of June, drop me a line. I got two lakes lined up and we will take good care of you. Rob SchollÂÂ
  10. Hey Jean, just learn to keep your hips up and the ski balanced and out in front of you.......do that, no crash. No crash, no injury...ÂÂ
  11. Finally got around to putting together Richard Doane's son, Braden's, internet tournament set.   He is on a HO A-1 with Radar RS-1 boots in this clip, FYI.  ÂÂ
  12. I talked to the guy that told me not to wax the bottom of the boat. He said the same thing as MAD11.  If you wax the bottom of the boat, it actually creates suction on the water. He said you should sand the bottom to make it go fast.  He then said if you are looking for protection, go ahead and wax it. He builds hydroplane and speed hulls so I figured he knows what he is talking about. He then added, "Dude, it really is no big deal with a ski boat, just do what you want. If you want to wax it, wax it, if you don't, don't."   He just smiled and walked away shaking his head. He went back to work glassing up a race boat hull.....  ÂÂ
  13. Give me a chance to sticker up a patrol car...........OF
  14. I have heard it actually slows the boat down and creates more drag. I know, it does not sound right, but that is what I heard. What I do know for sure, is two people that I know have waxed their hulls and had them slide off the trailer going down the boat ramp when launching the boat. I know, why did they unhook the boat before it was in the water? They just forgot about the wax and did not think it would slide off the skids. ÂÂ
  15. HG, up here in the NW two years ago, the SN promo boat had the big motor. I never skied well behind it no matter what I did. I felt the same things you described. I pulled, but the boat never gave. Jumpers loved the boat, but unless you were a beast of a skier, you were not given any slack. I am 165lbs so you get the picture. I guess a person could change the prop, but I would just open his engine box before you ski and pull a couple of plug wires.....That will put it back down to around 300hp. OF
  16. Man Zip, the boat driving when you were skiing was awsome......oh yea, it was me. The only way I can watch my ski partner is to watch his video on YouTube. Nice job Zip. Oh yea, and I ran that 32 even with my driver shooting video and driving.......You see what i have to put up with... OF  ÂÂ
  17. "The lovely Mrs. Horton wants to park her car in the garage so it looks like I have to dismantle the old CarbonFins workshop."   Boy, that did not take long....didn't you just get back from your honeymoon?  I bet I know what is in the Mason Jar above the fireplace.....Another reason to stay single.....ÂÂ
  18. Hey SM, Overtons and other boat places like them, sell what is called an air dryer. It is a metal box with holes in it and a heating element in it. It works real well in the motor box and under the dash where heater core is. The good part is it will never burn out like a light bulb, so as long as power does not go out, it will never fail. I also use it to dry my boat out. It works great and will never break.ÂÂ
  19. I was just being a smarta##. Up here in the Seattle area, even if power went out and all, my garage would never get cold enough to freeze. The real reason I don't winterize is, I don't stop skiing. If it is 45 or above and not too much rain, we ski.......
  20. I just back my boat into my heated garage and call it good........
  21. No sweat, you can have it. You just have to give me a place to sleep and pull me if I ever get up north.....I will call RD and see if he has shipped the ski. Of
  22. Seth, thanks for your comments. It is nice to hear from the other side. Being a police officer, I always hear and read things from the perspective of people not working in law enforcement. When I hear them and am able to tell them the other side of things, it is amazing how their perspective many times will change. I appreciate your honest oppinion and know if I go to a ski school, yours will be top on my list. OF         ÂÂ
  23. I have a Malibu 5" Tach/PP display and black box, if you can come up with a servo unit. OF  ÂÂ
