  1. @thager they sure as hell aren’t anymore...two of them right up through my heel!
  2. Just a quick post to say that I need another driver (and would also entertain someone who wants a place to coach and earn some cash) at my training center in Charleston, SC! Free place to live, free skiing, gear discounts, and some Dollar bills too! Post here or if you’re really interested email your info and availability to bookings@skiseth. I can also answer some questions here if needed. Thanks! @Horton move this if I posted under the wrong topic please!
  3. Almost 3 months out on subtalar fusion of my left ankle (front ankle) and removal of bone spurs. A couple of screws later, working my way back but still not skiing for another few months...late start this year.
  4. Sorry to be antagonistic, but there needs to be some clarification as to where specifically you are talking about rotating your hips and where specifically you start to move forward putting pressure on the front of the ski. If you do either of these too soon it creates an exact opposite effect of what you want in my opinion. Can I hear some clarification before I throw in my full 2 cents?
  5. Very impressive skiing! Looks great and tons more to come obviously! Congrats!
  6. Forgot about this post and just looked. Pretty damn funny! Hope you guys ha e a great weekend!
  7. As in 3rd pass up the line. As for answering @skidawg, the reason I can smile like this at 38 is BECAUSE I'm riding the Connelly...we all know it's not my skills...
  8. Nice work guys! Let's start a new contest...which of you can do this and still run your third pass. Feel free to post on this thread or start a new one with your photos. But I have to admit, it is a pretty damn creepy smile!
  9. @skidawg we'd love to see you there for sure! As for the 66" sticker, you have to earn the right to rock that on your GT...that being said, I'm riding my own stock demo right now and somebody has already removed it from the tip thinking that was their right as they demo-ed it. Anyway, don't think I pulled it off myself if I show up without rocking the 6-6. Seriously, for anyone who is willing to show up at the Centurion Ball of Spray Cash Prize at Whitestone, I will donate $50 per person who beats me to the charity of MY choice (which will be the March of Dimes for Babies in the honor of my awesome nephew Lucas, but I'm not sure if I can officially mention that without their approval) and if no one beats me, I will donate half of my prize money to that same charity! Anybody up for it? @horton
  10. Thanks @crashman. Would love to have you back. In general we aren't the cheapest per set but would Love to have anyone who wants a quality ski ride or coached set. We charge $45 for a ride, $70 for a staff coached set, and $80 for me coaching a set. I wish we could do it for less, but that's what we have to charge.
  11. @ozski, @horton and I have discussed quite a bit but I always urge people that there may be magic numbers but the skier definitely is a huge factor. Your settings are very similar to some settings @skijay slid my way, but you're a little further forward, a little longer and slightly further from the tail. @skijay spent some time helping Gordon Rathbun setup his @Connelly_Skis_Inc GT. He also had some deeper, shorter numbers too. I will share some options and also say, fin numbers for me are still a work in progress, but I got my originals from Fred Halt when he first gave me a Connely to try. I keep going back to something close to those numbers. They are: 2.523 6.810 0.725 Wing at 7 or 8 depending on the water. Bindings: 29.125 That having been said, I think a lot of people will want a little more length than that, just don't go so long that you have to pull all the way to the buoy. I have had some luck with students and others I train with using more average numbers like: 2.512 6.850 0.745 Wing at 8 and bindings the same as above. @skijay would you like to throw out your shallow/long numbers and your deep/short numbers?
  12. I beg to differ. @horton, that first pass was obviously some of your best work and the second pass was obviously a body double who knew how to ski. @richarddoane, although I know those are all good products, keep an open mind. Oh and Roll Tide!
  13. 1-I'll be taking that rope and handle back Wednesday morning when I invade your lake again 2-you guys have entirely too much time on your hands 3-@horton, you don't deserve your beautiful wife and daughter...they are far more beautiful and a ton nicer than you 4-See you Wednesday
  14. I am going back home on the 7th for a few days then back to the Big Island. I may have to try and hook up with Kenny to go ski for a couple of days if I have time off while here. Thanks for the info Marcus.
  15. @dtm. Being that I am new to the Connelly family, I don't know all of the details about what they have physically changed on the ski from 2015 to 2016, but I do know the difference in how they feel. The 2016 that I'm riding is definitely a lot more user-friendly and fluid through the turn without sacrificing any speed. In fact it feels faster to me perhaps based on the fact that I finish the turn much more fluidly. As far as 36 versus 34 mph, Fred Halt is the other team skier that gave me the first opportunity to test the skis. He is the world champion in the 35+ division, meaning that he's at 34 mph. I am also obviously a 34 mph skier now and we both love we both love the skis. Once you get back into your season of skiing, I think it's worth giving the GT a shot again. Let me know if I can help.
  16. Thanks @chris55 and @DW . Also, it has been brought to my attention by one anonymous person who may happen to own the best waterski website on earth, that I am a total waterski loser because I still have the size sticker on the tip of my ski. I would like to propose that all skiers rock the size sticker on their skis...and if you're ski doesn't have one, make one out of tape. This should be sure to drive @Horton crazy (oops, I think I may have just said his name).
  17. Thanks Eddie. I and trying to figure out if I have enough down time to get over to the Y and ski with Kenny. I have communicated with him in the past but I will be working on the big Island and would have to fly to Hawaii. Still, it might be worth it. @Horton I have been in island I have been working in The virgin islands and then Puerto Rico of and on for the last two months and now a Hawaii for almost a month off and on. At some point you have to stop hanging out at the beach and drinking beer and looking at bikinis and get back to work. A man's got to ski!
  18. Ok. Out of curiosity why wouldn't you ski it? Dangerous?
  19. Thanks Ed. Don't need a course. Just want to stay in ski shape while I'm away from the lake. I appreciate everyone's responses
  20. Not sure how I made the category "Site Info and Instructions" @Horton, move appropriately if you'd like.
  21. I have to travel to the Big Island for work off and on for the next month. Does anyone know if there is a place to ski there? I know of places in Kauai and Honolulu, but how about the Big Island? Thanks in advance for any help.
  22. Thanks for the friendly comments. Love the ski and love that Connelly is really re-focusing on slalom...this ski is evidence! And no, this doesn't speak negatively of D3 skis in any way. They are a great company with great products! I just happen to love this Connelly and I love where they are going with things. As for the comments about being back on the top, nice to read, but slalom score-wise I don't think I was ever there...so maybe it's time! I certainly won't have any excuses if I don't ski well. Stay tuned for great things from Connelly and let me know if I can help get you on one to demo!
  23. Haha...thanks Than. Maybe I should have phrased it as, "I may not be the best guy to ask because so many people seem to be kicking my a__!" Ha...but not for long. I am relearning some things...
