  1. There used to be a lot skiers on the Wide Ride, especially the Big Dawgs, does anybody have a insight, as to why some skiers moved away from it ?
  2. @Kris I think the Radar RTP comes up small, I am UK 8 which is US 9 , I normally buy the XXL, the rubber used to stretch a bit, not sure about the foam type stuff they are using now with the rubber overlay, which I normally remove, I also move the back two screws into the inboard counter sinks, to give a little more height so your foot moves in more, no good if you want to kick in, if you are two feet in for start, you have to turn your foot side ways to enter the binding, always releases in my experience. Caviat: this works for me, any modification to equipment is the owners responsibility.
  3. Huge Topic, All the Top Skis are superb, but will feel different for different skiers, what suits one person may not suit another, really difficult one, because you have to be skiing OK, to know what another ski feels like, really good skiers are able to adapt and ride many different skis. John Horton is such a person, all of the Pros, will make almost any ski work for them, but even they will be looking for a certain feel that suits them. The only real way is to Demo as many skis as possible, to see what you like, ask friends, if they would let you ride their ski. Buying a Ski Blind or on recommendation, is a bit of a lottery, as many have said before buying a ski from SKI-IT-AGAIN, Can reduce the risk of a expensive mistake, chances are that you can always sell the ski on, if it doesn't work out.
  4. Ah Ha ! I have so many people interested in it, if you want me to hold it for you, Transfer X Amount of Dollars into my Bank Account and it's yours. Oh Yeah ! Old Scam they advertise everything under the sun and pull the same stunt time and time again, because it appears a bargain. Good Folk get sucked in and lose money. Dislike those scammers a lot, nearly got burnt when looking for a Trailer, but common sense prevailed.
  5. @UWSkier you will enjoy stepping off the back of the boat or the dock, there is a reason some Pros went back to RTP, there must be benefits.
  6. When the Boat picks you up ? Does the boat have to feel resistance before it initiates your chosen power curve, another variant, depending on skiers speed around the bouy and ability to head back towards the wake, surely a skier who is not so good at maintaining speed around the bouy, will get picked up sooner, for the same setting. Again individual requirement depending on skill set. @VONMAN could be a good example C3 and A3 power curve are similar, they are just initiated at a different point with the possibility of A3 giving more gas due to the delayed pickup.
  7. Thanks all for the input, so basically the Zero Off Graph, is not that useful in determining what Letter/Number would be most suitable for the task, it,s more about individual technique, feel and what works for you. Because somebody suggests you would be better off with a specific setting, they may not be helping at all, because they cannot feel what you are feeling, I was persuaded to go A2 but always felt that I was not getting the space, that I had on B1,B2 or C1. Time to re-visit and stick with whatever, feels right for me.
  8. Hi Good people, I have been looking at the Zero Off Matrix, trying to understand why so many people use A2, looking at the Matrix, where th Zero Off picks you up, duration and intensity of the load. I am thinking accelerate and achieve a good load into the centre line and release energy outbound B2 ,B3 and any of the C settings look a better option on paper, than A2 So why do so many skiers prefer A2 with later pickup with a longer duration of potential load. I may have the wrong concept, when viewing the Zero Off Matrix/Graph, please put me on the right path.
  9. Ok Ballers, I, ll let go of it, I will become the pebble in a stream with the water lapping over me.
  10. Because they are into Jumping or Tricking, they think to promote or show people that's what they are in to, they want say another part of our sport is uneccesary, I don,t think they realise how powerful some words are, it only needs some nut case to latch onto it and it could end up not so cool as they think. A bit like social media or emails, things can get read in the wrong context, in this case clearly not meant to be offensive. But I am sure something else would be more appropriate and get the same message across and be more humorous. Most water skiers respect all disciplines and participants skill and talent, why not promote all aspects of our sport. People have their individual opinions, for me It,s not funny or clever.
  11. Hi Guy,s and Gals I am 5'6 , skied my best on a 66 ski, put on some weight and now ski on a 67, then I got to the point where I dropped the speed to 32mph, bearing in mind that I have always thought there is a correlation between, Height and Length of ski, I have tried a couple of wider skis, they really do not seem to work for me, started to think 68 ski, is that just too long for my height. Currently 180 llbs on 67 Vapor Pro @32mph, just about in the range for the ski, but not allowing for wetsuit/jacket etc.
  12. Body Mechanics, try this one if you are right handed, hold your left arm/hand out level with your shoulders ask somebody to push down on your hand/arm and you should be able to resist, can't remember which foot but try both, two or three dimes, under, say your left heel, hold your arm out and ask somebody to push down, your arm will collapse you will not be able to resist. For left handed it is the opposite way round. Does front and rear binding foot bed height matter, yes it does.
  13. You are just going to have to try it, looking at weight / height and speed , I would of thought the 67 would be just right, Maybe look at the front binding position, not sure but 30.25 rings a bell for the 67. I think the Lyric Graphite has Adjustable Fin, do get that checked out and have it setup correctly, it can make a big difference. Out of the box, it is not likely to be correct, If your 67 is a Graphite check the setup if it is just a Lyric I think it has a fixed fin, in saying that the Lyric is a Good ski. Good Luck enjoy your skiing. Like @jjackkrash says you do not have to go with a ski that is marketed at Female skiers.
  14. Somebody, some where, would fill the gap, if there was nobody producing, just need something with zero off to pull you down the lake, there are quite a few extras that you do not need. Must be a mould kicking around for the carbon pro.
  15. Will Asher, still at the top, Style and Technique, So Smooth, what a Great Athelete and Ambassador for the sport.
  16. Missed it on the list, sorry my bad, apologies to Dane Mechler
  17. @jimbrake for me the problem was Sacroiliitis, sit on a hard rubber ball(pet store) and move it around untol you hit a couple of spots where it is unbearable, keep sitting on that spot, until the pain subsides and then do periformis stretches. Sorted my problem, but it is a painful process, if you get the ball in just the right place, you will feel the tension let go and that just feels like heaven. Good Luck
  18. Dane Mechler has the tools required, not as tall as some of the others, but I still think he could give it a good shot.
  19. @MDB1056 Smart move my man, No Hat, No Lotion, No Bimini, equals something that none of us want, to deal with. Look after Your Self and your Family
  20. I have a big chest but have always used a12inch, I have never tried a thirteen but thinking tells me that if you are big, it is going to be easier to get your chest up, not sure if iot would be restricted by a twelve inch, but then as you have stated, Mapple used a ten or slightly smaller and he was fairly well built.
  21. People who do not check their equipment before they ski, also using bindings that should of been replaced a good 3 months sooner. As somebody else said people, that have the money but will beg and borrow gear rather than go out and buy it. Continues to amaze me, the potential for injury using gear well passef its sell by date and then blaming a bad drive for their mishap. Seen and heard it, a fair few times.
  22. Tie string or attach some cable to the rudder end so the you can pull it back through, you may find that it is cable tied in two places that you cannot get to easily under the floor, there is one awkward place under the floor, but if you get the angle right, it will go through quite easily , take note of the angle when you take the old one out. Ideally it is a two man job, one to pull on the Cable/String and one to Feed the new one through. With a bit of thought the manufacturer could of fitted plastic conduit for the cable to pass through to make replacing a steering cable, so easy.
  23. I use a HO RTP , if you release the back two screws that hold the plastic blocks that grip the rubber, you can make the back narrower by moving it across the the next counter sunk holes.
