  1. Lucky is my favorite coach, but this is not a Luckyism: "Strong like bull, smart like tractor." I heard this at a high school graduation awards dinner. Fortunately, they weren't describing my son. My favorite Luckyism: "You know when you are drivin' down the road behind a pick up and its got like a bucket or somethin' rolling around in the back and you are just waitin' for it to fall out? Well that is what I'm thinkin' about watchin' that guy ski."
  2. TPMC: email me at wilkins at northnet dot org and I'll fill you in.
  3. And the water tasted like chicken soup, although I am pretty sure that was by accident. Maybe they could add noodles.
  4. If your lake is outside Sacramento, I skied it three weeks ago and loved it. I skied a lake this weekend in Pennsylvania that skied differently Friday night (way fast) than it did Saturday or Sunday (ski really set in and skied slow). I was not the only skier to notice the difference. One thought was that on Friday all the algae was on top, but by the time we skied an Saturday (after tricks and all the juniors) the lake had been stirred up enough to "mix the algae back in". Is this possible?
  5. In Pennsylvania, a "heater top" is known as a "chicken shirt."
  6. So the Reflecting Pool at the Washington Monument will be reconfigured to accommodate a slalom course and jump? Tow boat becomes "Navy One"? Hey, wait a minute. California politicians with two balls get in enough trouble. I can't imagine what one with six would do!
  7. Ditto Horton, but add 13 years.
  8. That's "Daisy". And she says she misses you.
  9. The lakes are very nice. Both lakes are long and ski well. You get a pretty constant cross wind, but they have planted bamboo to create a wind block. Ryan and Breanne Dodd recently built a lovely home there and that got the jump back in the water. Pre recession, lots resold in the mid 200s. Recent sales reflect and different market and have traded at half their peak or less. They host a lot of tournaments each year; perhaps six or so. Usually a record on what is called the "Record Lake" and a class C on what now may be called the "Jump Lake." Palm Bay is out in the sticks, and it is about a half hour drive to Melbourne Beach, the closest sand and ocean. The community is a mix of newly weds, young families, more mature families and a few retirees. And they have a huge bald eagle that flies over and sits in a tree watching when anyone is skiing. Come to think of it, I haven't seen any small dogs over there...
  10. I agree, it is a great site. That being said, be careful of your fin when you set down. You may touch bottom. Also, check out the ski racks. Very cool. And they have coffee and danish.
  11. With all that southern skiing this winter, I am expecting to see greatness this weekend, Brent.
  12. Okidoki Artichokie! In my real life: Tighten up...Pull, please.

  15. The three rules of growing old: 1. Never pass a washroom without using it; 2. Never waste an erection; and 3. Never trust a fart.
  16. I am going to give the VW a try. Since I am neither an engineer nor a machinist, I am going to buy one. If I will only buy one, do I go small or large, flat or angled? I know a camel is a horse built by committee, but what the hell. 6'2, 190, LFF, Fogmans, Prophecy, tournament average 98 something.
  17. Ice is out and water is up to 34f! Should hit 55 my Memorial Day! Summer is here! I'd put my boat in but the marina is under three feet of water and they are a little tied up with a project called "sand bagging". WTF!
  18. Darn! I thought I was special.
  19. Hey John, why are my comments always in blue? Am I on double secret probation or something?
  20. My wife would move to Boca in a heart beat. I wonder if she would want me to move with her?

  22. They must have been ducks eggs. You've heard of Peking Duck, no?
  23. My personal favorite wooden ski was a Mesle. Made in West Germany. Very bright orange or very bright greeinish yellow. Paul Seaton of GB and Willi Ellimeier of WG skied on them. I also had a bright yellow French made Reflex. In fact, I still have those skis
  24. 54, 55 in July. In my first tournament ever, I lost the slalom to Wayne Grimditch.
