  1. Talked with Dave Miller today. Here are his numbers for his 65" 188 AMP Nano Mid: Front Boot = 28-3/4" Rear Boot = 17-3/8" Length = 6.820" with Goode caliper (jaws) Depth = 2.445" Tail = 0.725" I am planning on ordering one.
  2. And why does Goode screw the fin clamp into the ski if water is not allowed to touch the core?
  3. I spoke with a technician at Goode today. The explanation they gave me for no inserts in the Nano is it has a different core than the 9960 and Fire which is not as waterproof. I forgot to ask if water could potentially reach the core through the fin slot though. Goode quoted me a price of $1940 for the Nano "Twist" Mid. That must not include shipping.
  4. No insert option on the top model Nano Twist, but inserts are available on the lower priced models. Is this correct?

  6. Original Fogman (Riedell) shells with Intuition liners mounted to a 29" x 0.125"  G-10 plate. I use 6 strips of clear 3M 250 (SJ3560) and 2 strips of clear 3M 400 (SJ3561) to mount the G-10 plate to the ski.

  8. I heard that Fogman was working on a new and different release system. But no timetable as to even if or when they would be introduced. I was told they would be compatible with the current boots.

I removed my G-10 plate that was attached to the ski with VHB tape. First, I heated the plate with a hair dryer to soften the tape and adhesive. Then I carefully wedged a sharpened wooden paint stick between the plate and ski to pry the plate off while still heating the plate. Worked pretty good, but you must be patient. I also think a strong Kevlar string or fishing line pulled tight would work to slice through the tape between the plate and ski with minimal damage to the ski. This is similar to how they remove an automobile windshield.

Yes, I know all about the difficulty in getting accurate, repeatable DFT measurements on the Warp due to the rounded tail profile. I am using the EZ Fin Tool (which was advertised on this web site) for this measurement. No problems getting DFT with this tool! I switched from the stock carbon fiber fin to an aluminum one and experienced a noticable increase in performance.Â

  13. MAD11, The reason I went with the HO fin was it is the same shape and thickness as the stock Warp carbon fiber fin. I will try moving my fin back to your DFT and see how that works. Are you a 34 or 36 mph skier?
  14. Thank you MAD11. I am also running an aluminum fin (HO). The Warp seems much better with the aluminum fin. I think the factory carbon fiber fin flexed too much. My measurements: L = 6.791 (tips), 6.691 (jaws) D = 2.495 DFT = 1.007 (EZFT) which should be about 0.838 if I had a slot caliper. Front boot = 28.5" Rear boot = 16.75" My HO fin thickness is 0.099". Do you know the thickness of the Radar fin?
  15. I have the EZ Fin Tool and was wondering if anyone has the factory DFT measurement using this tool. Factory setting is 0.84" but I am currently using 1.007" with the EZFT. It is very difficult to measure DFT on the Warp without the EZFT due to the rounded tail profile.

I believe the bicycle components have a unidirectional carbon fiber structure to them and the final finish layer is usually a 3K or 1K weave under the clear coat. Is this the same for water skis manufactured with the natural weave? I don't think the final finish layer is structural, but rather for cosmetics. I could be wrong though.
  18. I kind of like the "naked" carbon fiber look of the Warp, Elite, and Fischer #01. Makes the ski look hi-tech. Many bicycle component manufacturers also use the natural carbon weave on their high end carbon fiber bicycle parts.

I have a Fogman adapter plate made out of 0.093" G-10. The release units mount to the plate, then the plate mounts to the ski using 3M double sided automotive trim tape (the same stuff that goes underneath the release units). When you are ready to remove the plate from the ski, simply heat the plate up with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then gently peel the plate from the ski.
