  1. Richard- Please dont take this wrong way but You need to read my post! I have had 4 ZERO off equipped boats since 07.  I ski regulary at least 5-7 sets a week with ZO. when I move over to PP I pick up a pass and a half running the exzact same times. Their are a number of us that just do not fit in the box that Andy and Zero Off have made for slalom skiing , My son who is a great 36mph skier loves it and has not skied better in years. For me It just is not fun getting four at 28 off (Or worse getting launched out the front) one day with ZO and four at 35 the next with PP. I would say suffering thru the learning curve is over at age 53. Maybe this year the AWSA will get the message that their will be more that quit because of ZO. The software is out their for a 4th option (RPM Overlay)! The pig headed elite thinking  Monoplistic industry and AWSA just wont supply it! Keep in mind I have also sat on the AWSA Towboat committee as a industry rep for the last 10 years and it still blows me away that the committee relenquished ALL control for speed control over to the towboat manufacturers! That's your organization working for You...
  2. I complain about ZO and have owned Four ZO equipped boats since 07. Have not skied a tournament since May of 08 and have never skied a tournament  round behind ZO I am right at 200#. My daughter also has a dislike for ZO she is a w1 120#. I have talked in depth with Randy AT PP and they are willing to sell or provide their software for the ZO controller. To me ZO is missing out as are the boat manufacturers to not be persuing and providing this software to their unhappy customers. I guess the wheel is not squeeking loud enough yet. As for the ability to install PP on a 09,, Some early vesions of the PCM E-control ECM had the ability to communicate via the V-guv line with PP however their is not an easy way to find out if the ECM is compatiable without sending it to PCM. All 2010 PCM motors now are not at all able to utilize Perfect Pass as the wiring will not now accomadate it.Â
  3. Those of you headding out to the nationals have a great time and ski well. Above all be safe! Jody
  4. We have had some discussion here in the Southern Region and have had a couple of T&B tournaments. I think that the format is great for the sport and can only see plusses. We have even allowed a few skiers to T&B at Cory's because they for some reason or another could not wait around for their second or third round. As for the record Issue with T&B I do not see a problem provided that the skier goes and starts from at least two line lengths longer then the record. But going right back out on a line length that he or she just missed a record on Will not fly. Any way I am supporting it at a State and regional level here in Florida as are many others that have been educated after all is it not time for the sport to evolve?
  5. Thats what happens when you spend way to much time in the desert sun!! I do wonder what is going thru Daves mind. Great picture.
  6. I remember Standing on the dock at the 1995 Regionals at Sunset lakes (Jacks) with 110 men 3 slalom skiers. This year I think their were 17. Â Ski Paradise in Mulberry is going to put in a bid for regionals and at this point I believe they are the only site intersted. We are considering holding the FL State tournament in SRB (Cory's).
  7. Mens division 36 MPH any age !!! Good idea but trying to impliment it is another problem. As for anyone running 38 should be in MM, No not my thinking but would like to see the cut off over three at 39. Their is another thred that is going is skiing dying? well one of the issues in the big picture is truly ability fairness! I have a wrestling mentality and do not belive that everyone should get a medal for participation but one of the aspects of our sport having difficulty's is the number of great skiers sking in age divisions where they dominate rather then skiing in a MM/open division, this tends to run off good skiers as they feel they do not have a chance against these elite level skiers skiiing in age division. after all I think we are all after the same thing in this sport and that is skiing to the best we can and enjoying what we do but it gets old when a skier runs a few at 35 and has to ski against a skier for a state or regional or even national champiponship that has the ability to win a elite world level event either as a pro or amature. Me personally have not skied in a tournament in 2 years, mostly because ZO has kick my ass (another problem in the big picture). I have now just begun being able to run some decent slalom with the zo and for me and now go into the men 5 division and will start skiing a few tournaments again. This division does not get any easier but attrition brings the playing field a little closer and their are not so many elite level skiers in it.
  8. Gentlemen, As per our rules any men 3,4,5,6 can opt to ski at 36 mph if they choose to do so. I would rather see a sandbagger rule and get a lot of these guy's that run deep 39 and better out of the age group classes and into the MM class. maybe we could start a sanbagger thred!!! LOL!!! As for boy's 3 that will never happen because it is a international jr class the rest of the world runs 58K.
  9. I dont think that skiing is dying, but the world of AWSA is dying.  I ski both on a public lake and at Cory's here in the Panhandle of Florida. In my business I see many ski boats a very large percentage of my customers are slalom skiers/towable recrational types. many of these customers are pretty accomplished slalom skiers as are their children. but they have no want to sit around at tournaments and wait all day to ski a round and pay$75-$150 per entry. Their is a young man up on the public lake that has never skied in a tournament in his life yet can run deep 35 at 36 mph. Skiing is not dying only the Governing body of the sport. How many of you have recently attended your State meeting? Regional Meeting? National Meeting? I can only use my experiances here in Florida and The southern region, but this year at our State meeting their were less than 15 people in the room, average age of the group exceded 55 years of age. Many of these people have been in control of the sport in Florida for over 20 years. At our regional meeting of the 15 committee reports to be given only 2 were heard because the other 13 members were not present including the chair of the rules committee and the President of USAWS Who lives less than an hour away from the meeting site. No I do not think that skiing is dying just the organizing body!! Me, I encourage the under 35 skiers in my state and region to take control of the direction of the sport. These are well educated young professionals yet they are not picking up and running with the ball. Sad is it not?
  10. Here in the south we practice the get-r-done style! And do it with a big grin!!!!/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif
  11. I would have to agree. I utilize a RS-1 front and a D-3 High wrap rear, the rear is loose around the heal yet supportive on the ankle. I dont cinch it down this alows from some rear heal movement from side to side. World overall Champion Javier Julio utilizes almost the same set up as what I use. I know the Radar is more of a hybrid but it is still not a typical hiwrap.
  12. Slalom Starts at 7:30Am with jr girls on to g3,mm,m3-10,om,ow,b3,b1,b2,m1and w1-10 total 54 slalom rides then on to trick and jump!!!
  13. GEZZZZ Dude That was an honest invitation, as you state know one has invited you to join AWSA. We have a big tourney this weekend and would love to have you your team their at least as spectator. Three world champions and record holders will be their. Nothing against your vest! Tho ? And always dissing? Ok only the vest!! Cheers..
  14. Come on this weekend Clint bring your vest and a credit card we will hook you up with AWSA and get you two rounds at Corys international cup tournament in SRB. Then you will get a great Magazine 9 times a year and have all the benny's that we AWSA members get!/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif Yahoo!!!!
  15. Funny thing is that Asher could probably run 38 on that paddle!!!
  16. I ski quite a bit a Cory's where they use rope release only. Shoot I keep a spool of rope for him and build releases by the dozen. Over the years I have seen numerous accidents atributed to a mech release and only one or two do to a late release on a rope. I think that most that say a rope release is hard to hold or difficult really do not set it up correctly. Most want to wrap it around the pylon two or three times. I release for some pretty heavy hitters and only half wrap it around the pylon. My daughter I dont even wrap just hold the other end. I do think that with these youngsters learning new tricks they need to be on some sort of release. Handle well that is one prefrence Stephen uses a wakeboard handle more because he has more upper body mass then most men and really can not pass a 12" handle easily. Arm guard? could not hurt !
  17. Yes these big bad boats are tough on the little ones. But a couple of things that might help. Get the child a Youth rope as they are lighter and the young ones can keep it out of the water. Also A handle guard and maybe a helmet. I saw a very small  girl rippin it this past weekend at a tournament at Cory's she ran 24mph up to -22 off. Remember though some of us learned how to run the course behind 70's era Nautiques as adults!!! would not want to go thru that again!
  18. Congradulations goes out to Chris! Chad Scot was driving. Boat path looks pretty good at the 41 off pass. That is the pass that will get scrutenizd along with the 39 before that. The 43 looks good. Chris is an amazing skier. However he does not work the boat as hard as one would think he would. Their are many a 39 off men 3 and 4 that will work a boat harder than most of the top world level open men. Thanks for posting the video! Regina will be taking a poke at the womens world record this weekend at the Picko's SuperStars in Santa Rosa Beach, florida.Â
  19. I think maybe MasterCraft utilizes a 3.5 display although it is back mounted. Tim would only have the large display and probably did not think about the 02 boat and designing a adapter ring and utilize the MC ZO control. Plexus works wonders... Food for thought!
  20. Hi no worries, I have not done a 02 as of yet but I would believe that a 3.5 display would be required on the 02 SN.
  21. Wow Crescent Bar Washington!!! Their used to be a couple big tournaments their in the 80's every year. They were held at a back water slough in a golf, marina, resort complex. The Kosney's and Goodmans used to put these on. What a lot of fun those tournaments weres. Back then a lot of guy's that course skied on the main parts of the river brought their own portable courses.
  22. Hi Roger, AS per Joe Grogan Of ZO one of the designers and programer, in quote when I asked him about five min ago on the phone he said " Their is no physical difference between a head unit that is mounted in the dash and one that is mounted in the console of a 200. The program to run each of them are different." So Mr. Dunlap is out to lunch on this one! Now what is not available is a program to run a display forward that has the "current" RevQ 200 program in it. So If I decide at this point to swap positions I will have to run an "original" version revQ 200 program that was available early in the year like what We ran at Moomba.. At the Lakeland open this weekend I did hear from a couple other drivers say that they also would prefer the ZO display mounted in the dash as it was a little irritating at times to opperate the system while taking their eyes off the water. Not a big deal just a prefrence.
  23. If any that want to change the cup on their PS197 You might want to talk to Ray Crenshaw as he has been doing it to his promo boats for the last number of years. he can be reached thru the MasterCraft Promo program and is in GA. I am sure he will tell what cup he has been using.
  24. In the 196 I could not percieve any more or less noise either in or out side the boats between the two that I have had cat and not cat. The mufflers are the same Vernay hull hugger that have been in the boats for the last 10 years and remains the same muffler in the 200. As far as efficient it is six of one and a half dozen of another. PCM has done a very good job with both motor combinations and have wrung about as much hp out of them as is possible and remain rather stock. I am still trying to get used to the slower speeds that this hull produces on top end but then again if I want to fast in a boat I have two flatbottom v-drive sprint boats to go harass the fishermen with. I am also playing around with a few propeller combinations and will spill the results when I have enough data.
