  1. In the USA you can start a tournament @ 32/22???
  2. Switched some years ago and never looked back. As a reference, I am still using the same original shell, have had the Carbon plate for more than three years now and I did switch to the new Silvretta 500 an all steel horseshoe two years ago.
  3. @kfennell http://www.miamiskinautiques.com/2008-Rip-Curl-5mm-Hotskin-L-S-Crew-p/08riphotskincrew.htm
  4. @klundell, to be young you need to be under 21 or over 42...
  5. Young guys like me ski d3. Look at the U21 worlds winners.
  6. 0.5 to 1mm. More important than thickness is the interior lining. The silver "titanium" type are much warmer than the normal cloth/reversible ones. Go long sleeve.
  7. They do suck. As I mentioned in a previous post, for me a good skiing day is when you can ski the following day. The only way for a ski day to be bad is when you get injured. Heal fast!
  8. 38 off would be more interesting to see if the camera had been shooting the skier and not the boat...
  9. One of our skiers travels often to Los Angeles, and he was wondering what are his skiing possibilities in the area. Anyone can provide info on clubs, lakes, etc...? Thanks
  10. I was 35. I had skied for some days in the course, with my ex-beloved and soon to be hated HO Mach 1, which was my open water ski for years. I could not go past 4 @ 43 KPH. I borrowed a Goode 8000 from a friend for the next set. First pass, I could not turn the ski @ 1. Second pass, I ran all 6. Celebration was a tough e-mail negotiation with jdarwin to buy his Goode 9300...
  11. Meaning that CP switched to HO?
  12. OB wouldn't ever cut any ski in decent shape to make a chair (might sell it and get a Herman Miller, though...). And he will not be sitting in the dock after running 38 in a tourney. And his kids will run 38 w/o major struggles before they are 1/3 his age.
  13. Post a video of your gate. Drills need to focus on what you are trying to improve. IMHO, if you are working to get consistent @ 22 off, you should concentrate in getting 36 buoys on each 6 pass set rather than working specifically in gates and forgetting about the rest of the pass.
  14. My first 38 will happen in 2014...
  15. Went out again with the Fusion, water still cold/drysuit and first time skiing in 7 days. I had planned, though, to start pushing it a bit, especially in 1-3-5 (onside, LFF). The ski turns beautifully, and gets into the exact spot you want it to be. My offside is crap, and off season it tends to be even crappier, so no comments for it other than I do not end up in the water with the Fusion and, if I am late and fast @ 6, I can force it to turn to the gate. With everything I had up to now, trying to do it would mean a nice OTF.
  16. I only have enough time and energy to hate my offside...
  17. If it was easy, it would be called wakeboarding... If you are getting a few @ 28 on a good day, you are starting too fast @ 15 off/34. You should be starting @ 15 off/32.
  18. ..and my grandma says that food in the ole Poland was so much better and tasty...
  19. Where I ski numbers are not dwindling at all. I would guess the mentioned dwindling, if present, is not because of ZO. Numbers are raising here because of a thriving economy which is significantly increasing the living standards. We all ski ZO. In our ski lakes, just the club boat (or two), no personal boats. Lakes are packed every day during the season. In Atlanta, you can become member on a really nice lake, nice people, with a club ZO boat, and ski for less than what it costs to ski where I live. And the lake is empty during a large part of the day. I cannot figure our why.
  20. One handed gate (LFF), helps me to turn the ski with speed and have it in front of me rather than back, with good angle and body position at the gate... Got some really good coaching last year, where I was told not to fear speed when doing my one-handed. As a matter of fact, message was "when you feel that you are way too fast to turn in, you will be just approaching the speed I want you to have...". And it worked. When turning with speed, gate feels effortless and 1 is really good.
  21. We have a couple of snakes in the dock during the season. They are the skiing kind though, and difficult to get rid of as well...
  22. I do not envy the fact of skiing with 10+ different skis in a season. Not at all...
