  1. Jody, no difference for the ZO software with the 13X15.5Â 4 blade OJ? What is the difference in fuel consumption? With the 800 hours/year we put in our boats, we could pay it pretty soon I guess...
  2. First of all, I think that 20 members and their families might be a big crew. We made our calculations for 10 families for a theoretical maximum of 40 skiers (members and their families). Rules. I cannot stress enough what Horton states regarding reasonable people. Most of your members and visitors will be reasonable. But the few that are not will be a PITA. Some members will think they own the place. Some regular visitors will think the same. For schedules, get an online booking system. www.supersaas.com is the best I could find. You need to be kind of software-savy for the initial setup, but then it works like a breeze. Be strict regarding no-shows, and be strict regarding show-up time if the lake is full. If you have issues regarding preferred times (e.g. everyone wants to ski Sat between 10 AM and noon), you will have to establish a rotation for booking that time slot. Do not accept lawyers as members (just joking on this one...). Ballers. My experience might be different as I am not in the USA. I am happy to host any Baller/TWSF member that comes to Chile (maybe I will be banned after that...). That has allowed me to both meet exceptional people and have places to ski overseas. "Ballers" cannot be regular skiers of the lake, though. Finally, almost for sure the person in charge will have rough days because of those 2-3 unreasonable people out of the 20 members. One recommendation: have a way of sacking a member when needed. One rotten apple can crap a whole case, and one crappy member can make life miserable for the other 19. When the lake starts filling, Matt will not be that laid back. I speak from experience...
  3. Thanks for all the valuable info. I have one thing bugging my mind , though. The following cable allows getting into the CAN bus: Â http://www.cancapture.com/ecom.html To me, it looks AWFULLY SIMILAR to the ZO update cable. Â Is the ZO update cable a reduced functionaliy version of the cable in the link, or is it the same cable?
  4. It is that "electricity" feeling MS gets in his spine when facing hot nurses...
  5. OB, Â what did you get as compensation for it? More water days?
  6. Razorskier1, Â what line length are you running?
  7. If the battery autonomy issue was solved, all boats would be electrical. If the battery autonomy was not there yet but you could charge for 1-2 sets in a couple of minutes, i would put one in my lake on a breeze! This is a step on the right direction by all means.
  8. I do not think I have buttons in my tachometer. I guess they come in the LE package only...
  9. Thanks. Looks like Diacom/mefi is what needs to be used. Â A question, just for my short term piece of mind. Oil low level should have triggered the check engine light, right?
  10. I tried it but did not clear the light. I read, though, that newer engines have a capacitor that allows the computer data to be saved for a few hours. The recommendation was to disconnect the battery and push the horn button to empty the capacitor. Will try this today. Do not have radio, so the only thing I will lose is the ZO slalom warning time...
  11. Our engine ran low in oil (the guy in charge of the oil change did not put enough). So the check engine light went off, and now, even though we refilled it, it is still on. Everything else is working perfectly, but the light won't come off. Â There is no official service here, and the only boat shop that has a cable and diagnostic software is overbooked, does not go on site and can give us a slot in the shop in 8 more days. So we want to have one just to avoid driving 150 km towing the boat and pay US$ 100 to just reset a light, and we want to know what is going on if we have the check engine light going off in the future as well.
  12. Can the ZO cable be used with engine diagnostics software to check/reset engine diagnostic codes?
  13. IMHO, everybody that has driven or skied behind a Nautique 200 would agree that there is a lot of development on the boat - considering the volumes they sell, these ain't For Explorers...
  14. Jim, drop me an e-mail, rodrigo dot andai at mincom dot com. I think I can send you something you will appreciate...
  15. That book was great in 1988, ski racing technique has changed A LOT since then. A better one for 2011 would be http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Skiing-Ron-LeMaster/dp/0736079599/ref=pd_sim_b_2  Just compare the skier's position in both covers and you will see how different they are.Â
  16. Just an advice on the "big three have become too big to really invest time in the dd" thing. It is usually a mistake to assume that when companies become big they also by rule become inefficient/sloppy/disconnected from the marketplace and users. Companies do not become big by just doing stupid things. Having a profitable and sustainable business needs much more than good ideas and passion. When the Nautique 200 was released, many skiers (including me) were complaining about the extra cost, how illogical it was to have a larger less efficient comp boat, and how good the 196 looked compared to the new squared monster. Then we said that the company was just losing their mind and focus when they did not renew their IWSF sponsorship (which is something that should have a much larger impact outside the USA thtan inside). CC is now using 1 hull to replace 3 different boats from their old line (196/206/216), they seem to have produced the first v-drive with world class slalom wakes, they cannot produce 200's fast enough to keep up with the demand, and at the club think that our new boat is great and better than the 196 terms of skiing performance, driveability, look and finish, despite a noticeable lower acceleration performance. Every visitor that looks at it and skis behind it wants one. Go figure how stupid the new CC management was by dumping the old faithful 196.
  17. Googling Linsey Vaughn yields fewer results than googling Lindsey Vonn...
  18. countymountie, without trying to offend or anything like that, the equivalent to rip 39s is to be around the same time on a GS or DH than Daron Rahlves and Hermann Maier, not to hit almost any mountain...
  19. I can agree with him on this. Not on his view about the graphics on the Razor being the best ever on a ski...
  20. Anyone knows what size are the prop nuts for the Nautiques 196-206-216? Need to see if I have the right wrench.
  21. People I know that use them put on a regular ski swimsuit on top, to avoid damage when seating (and I guess to minimize the strange look from other people when using them, as they leave little for imagination...)
  22. I have a better one. Â Why Kevlar liners, made in the same country, NOT for waterskiing, cost 10 times more when branded by a ski/glove manufacturer than when sold in a hardware store?
  23. Anyone knows how to switch from ft to m in the basic depth finder?
  24. You could try a Nautique 206 or a 216. The 206 has a really good slalom wake (have skied it in the course) and a reasonable wakeboard wake when loaded. The 216 has a decent slalom wake (have skied it on open lakes and feels harder than the 196, especially at longer lines), but has a killer wakeboard wake with the water ballasts are loaded.
