  1. A very proud father made this video after his daughter had one tournament pb after another in 2012 at our local SunTen tournaments in Utah. This is what he sent to me in addition to the video: After skiing on an intermediate ski last year, Shaela started skiing on her mom's 66" Nomad this summer. She started this summer with a best tournament score of 3.5 at 28 MPH at the SunTen Summer Opener in July. As the summer of Utah tournaments ended in August, she had progressed to a new PB of 3.5 at 32 MPH in the Goode Utah State Championships followed by 4 at 32 MPH in the last Utah tournament of the season the day after. Her tournament PB's were also her practice PB's. She has dubbed SunTen Lake 2 as her "Lucky Lake", as well as her favorite lake. SunTen does a great job to promote tournament skiing for young kids and I can guarantee you that both the progress and the fun factor would not be there for Shaela if we did not have local tournaments to go to. We are so proud of her and very thankful for the owners of SunTen who continue to put in the work to support tournaments in Utah that give kids a positive competitive atmosphere. Here is the link to his video:
  2. Brian Detrick has posted a schedule and slalom running orders on his website http://briandetrick.com/ Thanks @detrick Interesting format for slalom. It looks like Nate, Larkin, T-Gas, J.T., Rossi, Asher, Regina, Whitney, Breanne, April and Karen all get a bye from the first two rounds on Friday. Kind of like the idea that they are being rewarded for being the top six on the Elite list. I think that also gives them a top 10 finish before they even ski.
  3. I have an almost new 2012 Strada 66" for sale. Bought from local dealer a couple of weeks ago to give it a try. Has a total of four sets on it. Here is a link on Ski-It-Again: http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Slalom&postid=20840
  4. @horton - is there a running order or a complete list of skiers posted anywhere? Thanks
  5. @Detrick, Brian - will there be elite points for this tournament? Thanks for the recaps, updates, tweets and everything else you continually do to promote the sport!
  6. What skis do each of these skiers ski on? Greg Badal - HO Todd Ristorcelli - Goode Ben Favret - Goode Matt Brown -HO Andy Mapple -AM Chad Scott - Goode N1? David Miller - Goode Kevin Bishop Chet Raley Harald Hintringer Scott Larson - D3 Kris LaPoint - HO Todd Kuykendall Seth Stisher - D3 Fusion Mike Baldwin Todd Johnson
  7. @klundell - I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. That was Taylor Garcia who ran 4.5 @ -38 at age 14. I hear he is running -38 in practice. Not only can he slalom but he is even a better jumper and he can trick too. Incredible to say the least. One great group of skiers. Probably a few future pro's in the group.
  8. Boody39Off is tweeting scores for the open women. Hopefully will continue for the men. Thank you @broody
  9. Go to this link: https://usawaterski.org/rankings/view-tournamentsHQ.asp?sl=on&tr=on&ju=on&process=viewreg&rid=625499904156 and then click on entry status for the Goode Water Ski Nationals. After that select what type of list you would like to see. Registration Status works good to see all skiers in the divisions.
  10. I am curious if anyone knows which brand of slalom ropes are being used at the each of the Regional's and National's? What ropes would you like to see?
  11. @tfriess, D3 makes a great padded slalom bag. The boot area is higher which is good for hardshell bindings. I have tried the Radar and HO but definitely like the D3 best. @MS and @Kelvin, which sport tube model would you suggest and where is a good place to buy one?
  12. @lathompson, I know this is like telling a friend they are dating the wrong person but I would really think twice about having a binding system that will not release when it needs to. Years ago I had a friend screw his binding directly to the ski with no release mechanism. Within a few ski rides of doing that, he ended up with a broken leg. I learned my own lesson too when I kept skiing with a serious injury. That turned into double surgery and a wrong site surgery. @LeonL, my quote would be "One ski ride is not worth risking your health for the rest of your life!" @lathompson, get the right combination of interlock so your binding will release when it should.
  13. Has anyone tried the new 2012 Reflex Boot with the white cuff? What differences did you notice from previous Reflex Boots? How about the single carbon plates verses the alloy? Anyone switched to the aluminum buckles? How were they to install? I have an older Reflex with the older 400 series release. It is in pretty good condition except for the buckles. Instead of replacing the old buckles with the same, I would like to have the aluminum buckles. Not sure why they do not come standard with those. Anyway, thinking about upgrading to new boot, buckles, plate and release but would like to hear some input before I spend the big bucks. Thanks in advance for your comments.
  14. I am some friends looking at buying a Centurion Carbon Pro and I am curious on what options help sell the boat? Would you put it on a single or tandem trailer? Thanks in advance for your responses.
  15. @Than, I am not sure. They are one size up from the blue wrist banded small's. These were just a little to small for my ski partner who normally wears a size large in gloves and liners.
  16. If anyone is looking for some good Dupont Kevlar Liners, I have 30 new pairs that I cannot use. They were sent as size small but I would say they are a men's medium. They have the red banded wrist but they are not the large ones with red band. I will sell them in lots of 10 for $33.00 total including USPS shipping. Send me a message if interested.
  17. Here is the current running order and wait list: nautiquebigdawg.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Big_Dawg_Q3_Cypress_Texas_running_order_2012.pdf
  18. With just over a week to go and Mapple second on the waiting list, will Andy be skiing in the Cypress Big Dawg?
  19. @TRST, I soak and wash all my neoprene stuff in my sink using Woolite. After about 15 minutes of soaking, I gently "knead" them for maybe 30 seconds to a minute max. After rinsing, I sometimes then soak in a small amount of Downy for a few minutes. I found this method to be easy on the water clothes and keeps them smelling much better.
  20. Be extremely careful with Diuron. It will kill the trees on shore if the trees have roots near or in the lake. If you have been using Diuron and had some trees die later in the year or the next year, there is a good chance it was the Diuron. We have had great success with the grass carp with coontail and milfoil. We add additional fish every two or three years to keep total control of the weeds.
  21. @davemac, did you get your mirror installed on your Malibu? How did you end up doing it? We are absolutely loving the mirror. We are happy with it in the middle but I got I also got the other bracket to try it above the driver.
  22. @richarddoane, I would have sent a beanie to Horton but he would not know what to do with it. We get absolutely no sympathy from warm water skiers. I knew there would be a joke or two about that. Your beanie will be sent out in the morning. As a side note, Horton could use a beanie just to hold all that hair in place. That would add balls to his score just from less wind resistance. Suddenly all the skis he reviews will be lightning fast.
  23. I have finally found an excellent beanie to replace my discontinued O’Neill beanie. They are made by Mystic. They are soft, warm and flexible and can be worn above or below the ear. Beanies are great for cold water skiing. They come in three colors: black/blue, grey and black (only have sm/med in black). I have two sizes – small/medium and large/extra large which fits most adults. They now have a bungee/cord stop to tighten. The bigger size gives you room to cover your ears or fold it above. If you would like one, send me $25.00 through my Paypal account (lliddell2011 at gmail dot com) or order on my website www dot water ski stuff dot com. In the message section let me know what color you would like. I will get it in the mail asap to the shipping address you have on Paypal. If you want it sent priority, add $3.00. Thanks, Laurie
  24. The Ball of Spray Rules of Conduct are all the reasons why this is the very best website and resource for water skiing! Thanks John for keeping it that way.
