@ToddF, what type of lake do you have? If it has no outlets, Triploid Grass Carp will clean it up. Be careful not to overstock. It is better to start slow with them.

These photos remind me of one of my favorite days at the lake. This is Sam and Gabe. My neighbor had adopted them and their little brother from an orphanage in Brazil. They had never seen a ski boat or a water skier before. They were so excited to come to the lake. Sam got up on the first try and Gabe got up on the second try. They were so appreciative and had to of thanked me at least 100 times for inviting them to the lake. Thinking of them reminds me of how fortunate we are.

Went out to the lake today to work on the weather station and ended up taking the drone for a quick flight. Snapped a photo that reminded me of a photo I took in May a couple of years ago. Spring cannot come soon enough.

The -22 off pass is almost a brick wall and not fun behind the Correct Craft.... especially at 32 mph (Women's 5 and beyond speed), difficult but doable behind the Malibu, a sweet and fun pass (including at 32 mph) behind the MasterCraft. The -28 off (at 32 mph) is fun behind the MasterCraft and Malibu, still a little difficult behind the Correct Craft.

Over the years I have heard "okie-dokie", "pull me up please", "make it happen captain" and "I love you".

Looks like the only division sweeps are Alexia Abelson (Girl's 1) and Joy Kelley (Women's 6). Big congratulations to both. Joy Kelley is a great skier and a great person.

Interesting that this thread resurfaced tonight. I have been skiing behind other boats for the last couple of weeks until tonight. It was so nice to come back home and ski behind our Prostar. I always thinks the other boats are fine but they are not the same. Nothing beats the wake on the Prostar which is huge when you struggle with the wake. The other thing I have noticed with the Prostar is you only hear small complaints about the boat like the fan is noisy. If there could only be one ski boat, this would be the one for me. I love this boat!

After owning 15 other boats starting with a Ski Brendella when in college, this year we purchased our first MasterCraft Prostar. There are so many good things we have noticed that makes me just love the boat. I get excited to use it. I am not promo person and do not have any reason to write this post except to say how great I think the boat is. After using the boat for a few months, here is a list of what I have noticed and like: The driver’s seat rocks. It easily adjusts to where you want it and it reclines. A big bonus is the ski rope never gets caught on the seat when pulling out a skier. The middle seat is engineered into the boat and part of the boat. You can fold the back down as a step or to get it out of the way. The passenger’s seat lifts completely up to make it easy to get to storage. It is also heated with the heated seats option. The fiberglass bow cover makes the boat like a closed bow. The large notches in the swim platform make is easier to get into the boat after a ski ride. The boat drives great. The steering wheel is weighted just right and is comfortable. The drain plug location is so easy to get to. Best of all is it is not in the engine compartment. The bimini is one of my favorite things. I can put it up and take it down myself. It easily stores folded down and protected under the travel cover. Engineering = 10+ out of 10 The base engine has plenty of power getting out of the water and up to speed for the average skier, even at high altitude of 5,000 feet. The oil filter location makes changing the oil simple and less messy. The fan in the engine compartment helps move hot air out of the compartment which is a bonus at high altitude. The ski racks are terrific. They are out of the way which works for our use. Yet, they would be great for skiers that do not ski off a dock. A big plus is how the rope rarely gets caught anywhere on the boat when picking up a fallen skier or pulling out at the ends of the lake. The touch display is easy to use and very intuitive. You do not have to read the manual to figure anything out. The quality of the gelcoat is very good. We have not found any little bubbles or air voids and it looks really nice. Water temperature gauge is accurate. It is always very close to our weather station and mercury thermometer readings. Best of all is the wake. It is great at all speeds…. Especially -22 off. No surprises and it seems to be consistent from Prostar to Prostar. Really the only thing that we miss even a little is being able to fuel from either side of the boat. Not a big deal. Just need to think ahead. In summary, big kudos to @MarcusBrown and all the other engineers at MasterCraft who thought of everything to make the Prostar such a great ski boat.

Skied our third day in Utah. Water 52 and air 55. No wind. Snow capped mountains. Snow skied day before. Love Spring in Utah.

@MISkier another idea to help with phragmites is to use goats. A relative of mine works for Draper City in Utah and they are effectively using goats in a wetlands area to clean up the invasive weeds. There is an article on Facebook about it. The link is too long to post here but if you look up Draper City, you should find the article posted on 1/2/2019.

The temp is 38 degrees one foot under the ice. Skied just over three weeks ago with 45 degree water and now you can ride a 4 wheeler on it.

Good looking boat. The gelcoat options are pretty limited. Either all white or lots of color on the sides and deck which means a lot of time spent cleaning when you have hard water. The options look about the same except for the slide in air dam and bow cushions are options while standard on MasterCraft and Malibu. Really like how the rear seating is done. When I built the boat online, I did not see an MSRP. Will be interesting to hear price.

@bbruzzese in our many tests, we noticed no difference in running the blower. The only way to keep the power up was to lift the engine cover between sets to stop the heat from building in the engine compartment when it was sitting.

We had both a 2017 and 2018 TXI on a short lake and at high altitude. We did a lot of experimenting along with putting an outside temperature gauge in the engine box with the temperature display in the phone holder. The engine air intake temperature does not rise much if you are running the boat constantly. A bigger problem is when you come back to the dock and the boat sits between skiers. We would find the temperature in the box to climb 25 to 35 degrees while sitting just for 10 to 15 minutes. There was then a noticeable difference pulling the next skier out of the hole and getting up to speed quickly. After all the experimenting, we found the biggest help was to open the engine cover between skiers to let the hot air out and stop the heat from building up.

I owned one of those boats when I was in college. It was florescent pink and blue. Sweet wake at every line length. I believe I paid $14,000 for it new. The only downside was that my mom was upset with me that I owned a boat before a home. Everything ended up working out after all and I still own a boat.

@horton, I think you are thinking of SunTen Lakes in Rush Valley, Utah. Parsons and Rossi are owners at SunTen but they usually ski at Stillwater. Here is a photo of SunTen.

The DJI Mavic Pro works great for skiing. It takes incredible photos and with a little practice, the videos can be great too. It goes 20 mph in regular mode and almost 40 mph in sport. When in sport mode, it does drain the battery pretty quick and it is harder to video smoothly. I have had a few problems come up but usually a simple google search will resulted in a quick fix. They are rated to go a distance of four miles but I do not think that is possible. I have made it two miles with clear path of sight and the signal gets pretty weak at that point. It also takes almost 50% of the battery life to go two miles and you want to be able to make it back to where you took off from. Overall, it is extremely easy to fly and return safely. I get a pretty good adrenaline fix every single time I fly it. It was a birthday present which was by far the very best present ever!

Here is some interesting information about Boca Laguna Ski Club site. It is a man made ski lake that is located less than .5 mile away from Lake Chapala which is Mexico's largest fresh water lake at almost 50 miles long. The elevation is right at 5,000 feet which is pretty close to the elevation of some of the sites in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana .
