You would be surprised. A ski not set to at least the manufacturer's numbers can perform very poorly. If your skiing the course your really looking for precise and highly repeatable technique. Maybe not as much if your free skiing but I would think that still would be the goal. Either way to give that ski a fair chance I'd get the fin pretty close to where the people that made it says it belongs.

@GMC looking forward to your comparison to the Rev.
-
Nope
-
Terrific departure from the normal marketing hype! Makes me very interested in this ski.

Stokes glove fit tight. Give them a try no need for liners.

I knew if I held out long enough Animals would come back into style!

@bishop8950 Is it a flex tail design like the Rev 6 or just the backbone no tail slits? Really like the Rev never skied the xtr heard it was "slightly" more work than the Rev. any comparisons?

I switched a few years back. Did it in the off season. Practiced leaning on a pole with the new position. By spring It felt pretty normal. Not sure it made much of a difference one way or another to my scores though.

Seems like Goode takes quite a hit around here. He builds a solid preforming product, sponsors the sport pretty heavily. Lets face it he wants to sell skis same with the rest of the manufactures. Everyone here seems pretty giddy when Radar or HO turns out new product each year. Would love to hear more about Goodes new stuff, but here its mostly crickets. I don't get it.

look at your ball times they tell the real story!

Get more weight on your front foot at the glide and the turn in. When you extend to turn let the ski swing out a bit more before you reel in the handle. Be more patient there. Those two things will give you a much earlier line.

@gt2003 the background settings are a difficult time consuming process and in my experience they don't work like the paper work reads. your numbers are like something I've never seen. Since the boat is constantly trying to slow down I would be having a hard look at the way it's throttled up ,baselines, and return spring in that order before going after any background settings. I keep my skier weight at 0 for what it's worth.

@alex38 yes

@alex38 try my numbers just for fun. Let me know what it does for you.
-
@gt2003 those numbers are really wrong! It's backing the speed way off. your looking for .01 .02 Just guessing but either the base lines are off or the boat comes in really hot and has too much cable to reel in.
-
My background numbers 25-15-36 that's on a MasterCraft EFI. My partner has a Nautique and his numbers are very close to those. His is a carbureted version. If that helps anyone.
-
@gt2003 those numbers are hard for me to make sense of. Looks like the boat is over throttled coming in???
-
@alex38 If you got 2 ball at .01 I doubt you will improve the system any further at that segment. You could add a bit more at ball one get 2 ball to 0. What boat, and what are you background settings looking like? Are you feathering the throttle up just before the pre-gates? Example get the skier up, run the boat at 32 hundred rpm until the boat is straight and pointed at the pre gate. Add throttle until the beep. Do you have a pretty straight run in? Is it tight?

I would raise it 5 at a time running several passes each time to see if you have the desired result. I would have to look cause it's been a while but mine is in the low 20s. Don't be afraid to raise it. You may have to take some out of the middle if your getting some run away. The ball numbers have to be within a couple of thousandths or it just won't ski right. I have access to 3 boats with stargazer the big 3 and all have the same issues with stargazer out of the box.
-
@alex38 look at the 2 ball time. I know it sounds counter intuitive but usually you have to raise the 1 ball background setting or you get a big hit at 2 ball due to that correction your talking about.
-
The perfect pass system is designed so that your boat throttle goes higher than the set speed and is adjusted by a servo that lowers it and raises it as needed. The servo has the ability to lower the speed, but the only thing that lets it go back up is the return spring. You can put an additional spring on with some zip ties to see if the extra tension helps you. The spring has to be able to pull the throttle back when the servo lets out slack. I hope this makes sense.

@Dacon62 There is a easy test to see if you need to invert. It's in the manual, If memory serves you just hold a steady 2100 rpm or something like that. You need to map the course if you want to find out what's going on really. The ball times are there when you hit the down arrow after the pass. They need to be within a couple of thousandths or it wont feel right. Learn to feather the throttle at pull up. I bring my boat up to 3200 rpm and hold it around there until I'm running straight in front of the 55s. (for a 34mph pass)Than I push it down until the system engages. That give the best results for me. It sounds like a pain but once your used to doing it, it's pretty second nature.
-
You have to adjust the first segment to get the 2 ball time right. I had to go quite a bit higher than 5 points. Quite a bit of trial and error but once you get the ball times within a thousandth or to it quite good.
-
Look at your ball to ball times they need to be within a few thousandths or it will feel like crap. I don't have z-box but from what I understand stargazer has to be running correctly for it to work right. @hemlock I do believe those background instructions are obsolete at this point. I think the pre-gate settings are gone. There are 1-3 ball settings still.
