@Texas6 and @Wish are going down the right path. Here's what I discovered last night that has already made a HUGE difference in my skiing:
RESIST letting the boat rotate your shoulders back to the pylon as you travel outbound into the ball. As you can see in the freeze frame, my outside shoulder is being twisted back toward the boat. I'll have to disagree with Texas6 about staying on the handle too long. But the need to stay on the handle has led me to being turned back towards the boat. Last night, I thought about RESISTING the boat pulling that outside shoulder in. I could feel a lot more pull in my left arm/shoulder going into 2/4...and VOILA!!!! I was wider, earlier, and finishing 2-4 with a lot more speed, angle, and consistency!
I tried the technique at 38 once last night to see what would happen. I had a crappy gate 1, pulled too long into 2, but applied this "resistance" to the boat and I still had enough width to make a clean turn at 2 and be wide and early at 3! Normally, if I messed up 1 ball like that, I may get around 2, but would have no chance of turning it and going to 3.
