  1. I briefly tried to play my Go Pro video camera through the link screen with no success. I also tried to play videos of training sets through it without success. I'm definitely not very tech savvy and I haven't spent too much time trying to figure out the whole link system. You can tell it was not developed by Apple. Anyone done anything like this or using any type of camera input?
  2. Thanks for the correction, didn't go to LAKU. I haven't spent enough time behind the 6 liter to have an opinion. The only times I have skiied behind one I was at a different site, different driver. Couldn't really tell much difference in the boat. Greg Davis told me at least last year he or(they Nautique) intended on using the 5.7 at the Big Dawgs.
  3. I had an 05 SN 196 with a 6 liter and it was not as quick to speed as the 5.7 liter. Really the boat with the 5.7 felt better. That was a long time ago, but it felt like most of the torque came in at too high of an rpm. We have used the 5.7 liter on the Big Dawg exclusively, why I don't know for sure, could be just for continuity for the skiers. Most are slalom specialists who don't need the 6 liter for jump. When I ordered my 2011 SN, I contemplated it, but I believe it was 6K option, was not worth it to me. I did like the closed cooling of the 6 liter, I think all marine engines should have this and it was a smoother, more well balanced engine. The 6 liter is a nice piece, but hard to justify if you are just a slalom skier and not a high end jumper or barefooter. The 343 Cat engine in my 2011 SN 200 feels much stronger than the 2010. I heard rumors that it is actually stronger due changes in the DBW/zero off. I run the 422 prop on a short lake and it works very well.
  4. I use my Nautique on the lake and I think it's really good there. I sit in the open bow while we ride 20 some miles to the slalom course. The "saddle bag" compartments swallow up a lot of gear. More than you have in the rear compartment now. It feels very roomy. It also handles lake chop pretty well with the gate up. Most of it's time is on our private lake where it performs flawlessly. The wakes at slower speeds are very, very nice for kids. The boat is very impressive. Tracks beautiful. The trough at 38 and beyond is very shallow which is a huge advantage. I'll give you the downsides as I have observed. Turns much more rpm than your used to. Will use more fuel. The wakeboard wake is pretty small without adding ballast. Much better than the 196, but will not be as large as your boat. I am very happy with my 200. Thankful to be able to own it. Heard the new txi is good. Go try both before you buy.
  5. I think Todd is doing a good job with the magazine. I enjoy it and will continue to support it.
  6. I've had a previous incident arm through the handle. Now no medial biceps attachment to clavicle. Three days in hopital vascular surgery, etc...... Rules committee supposedly would not recommend mandating the use of these modified handle bridles because to mandate this might make it easier to sue if an accident still happened with it's use. Another example of the absence of common sense. Glad your alright Ed, when you have this happen, you see how easy it can happen and how little you can do to control it. Still to this day when I fall I hold on to the handle util the boat takes it away. I don't buy mine, I sacrifice a tupperware top. All you have to have is a tupperware top. The tupperware brand is a much higher quality material than the cheaper ones. Lay your bridle on the tupperware, strech handle tight, mark the area in between. Cut out. Punch hole about every inch with a paper hole punch for zip tie. Zip tie. Leave several inches for your hands. This works very well. The tupperware plastic is up to the task of dragging behind the boat. Everyone please take a few minutes to do this.
  7. Isn't the Dairy farm near the lakes in(near)Bakersfield one of the largest and most progressive dairies in the country? One of my patients who's a dairy farmer in Kentucky went out there for a tour to get some ideas for his farm. There is one right up the hill from my farm(lake). It is not a pleasant smell, but they are good people. You might want to get hooked up with a milk truck driver and get to see multiple farms in a day.
  8. I had a Goode 9100 that was one of the best or maybe the best ski I ever had, that after 10 years of hard use flexed essentially the same as it did when I got it. Just got a good one.
  9. I think there is a market for bare bones models now. Nautique has done these sporadically without much sales success. Moomba's small boat was a great value but I have only seen a few of them. Personally for the way I boat though I'd rather have a nice used loaded boat than a bare bones model.
  10. Truly the reason why promo prices are increased is because boat prices have increased. There me be a few people who try to make a thousand or two on a boat but thats about it. The promo guy(s) in our area just try to break even. The boats get more and more expensive all the time. Everyone needs to be thankful that there are those who are willing to be a part of promo programs. The hassle of trailering your boat rain or shine to a tournament, getting there before the tournament starts, staying til it's over, cleaning it up, the wear and tear on your tow vehicle, cost of tow vehicle gas, cost of hotels, hassle of selling, titling, etc...... At this time there is no real financial incentive to do this, people do it because they love their sport. My thanks to them for doing what they do. Why are the boats going up in cost? I think we're getting more than we have in the past as far as technology and size. Govenmental impositions in emissions have increased cost in engines greatly. Now manufactures have to engineer there products to meet these standards. Developing safe catalytic converters adds sv
  11. When you move forward, flex your ankle, you can apply tip pressure when the strap limits forward flexion. May also be helpful keeping the achilles in one piece.

  13. Got one and have only used once, but felt good to me. I had to cut the cuff off the old ones to be able to extend my foot. Think it is good we'll see next year. Looks like Reflex is trying to create a better product all the time.

  15. Had a similar incident @39 two years ago. Traumatic herniation of C5, hands went numb, shoulder weakness, mild cord compression. 2 opinions with multiple MRI follow ups at 2, 4, 6 month intervals. My disk resorbed instead of calcifying.. was lucky. No surgery necessary. Get a couple opinions like you are planning. Be thankful your not a quad.

  17. That's a cool classic boat. I like them, but I think there is no way to make the wake much better. The beam is narrow and they ride deep in the water. They throw a wake that is painful to the ribs compared to modern boats. If I remember the attitude of them, raising the transom would be a help. I've done this temporarily with several layers of thick tape. Gorilla duct tape would work. You could try bonding some lifting strakes and see what happens, but I would be careful as the boat could handle dangerously. If you've got a bunch of time you need to get rid of then go for it.

  19. Isles of Lake Hancock is fantastic, personal best there. Dipol's in Louisiana is beautiful. Hard to beat Okeeheelee.
  20. Make sure to get the bindings right before you mess with the fin. They are very, very sensitive to binding position and not as sensitive to fin adjustments. May not need the ventral with the stiffer tail. Enjoy.
  21. Boody, Ive got some like new medium powershells. My son outgrew and is on Reflex. They are the 4 not 5. Eric
  22. Jeff, Where did you end up with your front binding? Had to move mine to 29.75.
  23. I had a 422 that I tried last year. It brought down the rpm's a lot on my 2010 with the 343. I ski on a tight lake and getting up to speed was no problem. I'm not sure there's a lot of difference there. The prop seemed to handle very well, I liked it better than the 14.25. I used it for just a week or two earlier in the year when I was just getting in shape using wetsuit, etc.. So I can't give an objective opinion on how it feels from the rope end. I thought why would I buy the latest equipment and change it to where it will be different than I am using in tournaments. So I switched back. I believe that it will be a different pull especially for those that get into the boat hard, which is me for sure. I would recommend the 422 as a better prop except for the issue is that it is not going to be the same in a tournament.
