  1. What is the difference with downhill skiing, it's just someone skiing around gates as they go down the hill. But the general public has an understanding for the sport, and and the difficulty of what's going on. Personaly I don't think the general public would be interested in our sport unless they are educated on what's going on. Just like Tal28, he free skies but clearly doesn't see the difficulty in the course because he has never attempted it. As soon as he attempts it he will have a different look on the sport. It seems like almost everyone who free skies that has never been in the course sees it as "how hard can that be" or "I can do that". If someone has never attempted a course they're not going to understand the difficulty thats involved. A science to skiing bit would give people more understanding to our sport which might spark interest, but who knows. Not worth much, but that is my 2 cents
  2. If they can't seem to get it, and I don't let them drive my boat. Then I can't ski behind my boat. So not that simple, do see what I mean. Thank you for the input, but that's not really answering my question.
  3. I know there is more to it than just slamming down the throttle. I can pull consistently. The question is will it be any easier to pull consistently with the zbox. If it makes it easier for my wife, or someone not that familiar with my boat, it's worth it. I have cable version. I don't have any problems, it's just for the others that drive my boat. If someone else is driving, I'm at the end of the rope. That is why I am wondering. My settings need to be lowered also, but that is different thread.
  4. I am wondering if it will be easier to drive with the zbox, as far as using throttle control to engaging the system. I thought someone told me you just floor the throttle with zero off and it does all the work. Where with stargazer you throttle up to your speed and the system takes over. If the zbox made it easier for my wife to drive, I would purchase one in a heartbeat.
  5. Will the zbox make the boat any easier to drive, as far as engaging the system with the throttle? If it makes it easier for wife to produce consistent pulls I would purchase one.
  6. I have some molded orthotics from a local shop in my reflex bindings (r-style in the back). They were spendy but worth it. They were made for mountain bike shoes. I get crazy cramps on the outside of my feet, that's the only reason I put them in.
  7. http://www.usgearonline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=USGEAR&Category_Code=CBSR I use one of these. They make them for 12" and 13" handles. It's made out of neoprene.
  8. What kind of boat do you own/use? Malibu Mastercraft Nautique Centurion Moomba MB ect . . .
  9. I am newer to the sport and am wondering how you follow the events. Are you just following the results online, is there ever any air time on the tv, ect?. I have a subscription to waterski mag, but I never see anything more than that. So where do you go to see a schedule of the events and results?
  10. If I was betting on it, the spray probably isn't all that big.
  11. Ya I know that, I just don't really want to go and miss my first pass. I would probably show up, miss the gate . . . and then be frustrated. I want to get some consistentcy so I have fun with it and look forward to participating. I am afraid if I show up and blow it right off the bat, it will take the fun out of it.
  12. @sully what is a Tebow? Slim down a little, I'm around 190 Get the wife into skiing more. (I think this is the most difficult goal) Get into 36 mph Try skiing in a tournament. Learned how to free skiing in july or august of 2010. Started skiing the course in 2011 and my PB is 4 at 15off 34mph. I am hoping to get comfortable and consistent at 36 mph so I can participate in tournaments.
  13. Also if you're going to upgrade from your venoms, u should think about getting the radar strada boots or rs1 boots (very similar). You can probably find some closeouts on them somewhere. I think you would be a lot happier with that set up. But if you don't want to do that, go with the vectors. That rail boot looks just like my prime boot (2010).
  14. I think the prime replaced the rail. But if you can spend a little more money go with the vector, it is the better boot out of the two. I have primes on my wifes ski and they do fine. They are easier to get in and out when they are wet also. I am not sure about the width question, I would think they would get larger in width and length with the a bigger size.
  15. I have a Sanyo Xacti VPC-WH1 High Definition Waterproof Flash Memory Camcorder and use it on a trakker p4 pylon mount. Works great except if I have a crash with a load on the rope the video gets all blurry and won't focus until the camera is shut off for a bit. The worst part is whenever I crash I never get to see the video. Anyone have problems with this when using a pylon mount? Other than that the camera is great.
  16. do u need to lower baseline at each speed, or will the baseline take care of all the speeds? Also anyone know if a indmar should be inverted or not?
  17. It's crazy that idiots even try this! And crazier that there are people that think if your hanging, swimming or napping around the beach and get hit by an unmanned boat, you deserve it. The statement from above is as stupid as attempting this stunt in my mind.
  18. @Taelan28 what speed are skiing at and r u only free skiing? If your only free skiing I think you would be better off with out a high end stick. A cheaper ski is going to be more forgiving in open water when its a little rough. And it will probably speed your learning curve to start on a intermediate ski.
  19. Just curious what your thoughts on moomba are, seeing how they're a less expensive boat? I own a moomba outback and love it. I ski at 15 off at 32 and 34 mph because I've only been skiing for a little over a year now. I've skied behind a few malibu responses and like my wake better at 15 off and at slower speeds. I've pulled a few experienced skiers and nobody has complained of anything, one of which that skies into 35 off.
  20. overtons.com has new blemished elites for $799.99
