  1. @ab, You guys are getting what we were supposed to. We got a couple a showers, not much. "What did Jay say?" Maybe tomorrow he'll be right!
  2. For once I hope the weatherguy is right, he just forecast 2-4 inches of rain right on top of us!
  3. @MISkier, That's a long drive! We ski in a reclaimed sand/gravel pit between Clinton and Tecumseh. It's north of Adrian. I live on Sand lake which is low, have not visited the pit yet this spring to check its level.
  4. I was just wondering how everyone elses water level is around the mid-west. We had a really dry late summer and fall last year and our lake was as low as I ever seen it. We had ice out around 2 weeks ago and while the lake has recovered some, it is still low for this time of the year. March was really dry, hope we have some good spring rains! I'm located in SE Michigan.
  5. I have a smaller foot with a hi instep that makes it hard to get my foot forward in my RTP. The solution that has worked for me is to chuck up a small sanding drum in my cordless drill. Using a 80 grit drum I taper the back edge so that its thinner and tapers towards the front. I start with my back foot out and as I come up I kick my rear foot in until I can feel the front boot with my toes. The taper really helps my foot slide in.
  6. Please tell me the houseboats have holding tanks now. We rented one back in the 80's and while we're swimming the second morning we wondered why there was corn floating all over. Then we put 2 and 2 together and remembered we had corn on the cobb the previous night, GROSS! Other than that it was a great vacation, especially fun finding a remote cove and skiing among the trees.
  7. Sure is an improvement over my 09 Senate-C. I love the ski but it has to be one of the ugliest skis ever made! At least I was able to hide the ugly with a lot of stickers.
  8. There is no purer sport than wrestling. Think about it, no ball, no equipment, no teamates, no hoop, nothing but you and your opponent. You can't blame a loss on a bad bounce or bad conditions, or your teamate, the better man walks off the mat! As an ex-wrestler and coach I now have zero respect for the IOC its all about the money!
  9. Wrestling is out and twirling ribbons is in? You got to be f------ kidding me!
  10. I'm a firm believer no matter how big you build any garage/storage building you'll eventually find enough stuff (my wife would say junk) to fill it!
  11. Before I remodeled and added onto our house I built the detached garage. The garage is 25 x 38 with a 1/2 story work out area upstairs. The house at this time was 25 x 25. Several of my female neighbors commented that the garage seemed a tad big in relation to the house. I said "to big?" the only problem was that my lot and set back restrictions limited it to only 25 x 38!
  12. I have a Focus ST with the 2.0 ecoboost. I've owned other turbos before and yes there was turbo lag. The ecoboost is a lot different, it develops its full torque by 2500 rpm. Comparing it to the Audi A4 I had prior is night and day. The ST pulls hard at low rpms. Although I doubt it will ever happen, I bet the 3.5 would make a great boat engine. Off subject, if anyone is looking for a great small car go test drive a ST.
  13. The coolest times are on a clear cold night with no wind and the moon out. You can hear the sounds echo through the hills.
  14. One of the coolest things in the winter is hearing the ice "sing". Last winter there wasn't much snow and on a clear cold night the ice sang so loud you could hear it inside the house. For you southerners it's similar to the sounds whales make.
  15. My favorite part of getting old is when I wake up and something new starts hurting for no reason. Woke up the other day and for 3 days my shoulder was killing me and then the next day its fine. My wife and I refer to it as the "pain of the day".
  16. We've had a gps a couple of times. With a 15-20 wind on a broad reach we can average around 45-50mph. Throw in a couple of gusts and I'm sure we're getting close to 60. When the boat hikes up on two runners and your mast looks like a pretzel it feels like a 100!
  17. Not trying to diss on skibrains rig (any iceboat is cool) but I thought those who haven't seen an iceboat would enjoy seeing a more conventional set-up.
  18. Andy, you are in the snow belt! I have 2 DNs, one an older club boat and the other I built a few years ago. A friend across the lake always has about 10 boats in stock, skeeters, renegades and DNs. If you know anyone looking for a boat let me know. E-mail me your e-mail at dbski2@comcast.net and I'll keep you posted on the ice around here.
  19. Andy, where are you located? I'm on Sand Lake right by M.I.S. We're far enough east to miss alot of lake effect. Last year would have been great but ice didn't last, only 3 days of sailing. BraceMaker, try to catch a ride if you can. One ride and you'll be looking for a boat to buy!
  20. I've posted pictures of this boat before and it isn't my ski boat but when I see the pictures it makes me smile. It is going to get warm again and skiing is only 2 1/2months away!
  21. Waiting for ice so we can get the iceboats sailing.
  22. This picture of my wife always makes me smile and makes me realize how lucky I am that she loves the sport as much as I. I'm also blessed as she is a good driver too! By the way she is now on a HO Couture (a womans Coefficent-X) and loves it.
  23. I added a "h", should have been "orny". Wish is was the other way!
  24. I know I have a "keeper"as my better half is just as addicted as I'm am. The only problem is that she has had some back problems and she can get a bit horny when it keeps her off the water!
  25. I can paint the brackets any color to match the carbon fiber or I could cut one out of plex. Another idea would be to use corian solid surface material.
