  1. @skibrain, that's not far from the truth, but that 2% you're out there is pretty amazing. 65mph laying on your back 4" above the ice with minimal control is quite the rush.
  2. @TWB and I just got done with the last set of the season and what a way to wrap up the season. 76 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and light wind on Nov 4 in Michigan! Wow and this was the third day like this, plus we both skied well. Sure made it a lot easier to pull the balls, sink the course and finally winterize the boat. Time to tune up the snow skis and get the ice boats ready.
  3. This will show my age. For my 5 years at East Lansing, Tom's party store had a standing special. A 6-pack of Old Milwaukee in the short keg bottles, $1.00 tax included. Wasn't the greatest beer but on a students budget who cared!
  4. @skoot1123, just got done towing my Malibu to the storage barn with my Lightning. Since I live on a lake I don't tow much, but when I do I don't lack for power!
  5. I've shipped several of my skis internationally using USPS, no problem. Just fill out the forms at the post office, hardly took any more time than shipping in the US.
  6. Proud to announce that @TWB knocked down -35 tonight. After getting to 5 ball numerous times this summer he finally turned it in good shape and made the pass! To top it off it was our first night in drysuits. The main reason, of course, was the superior driving he received.
  7. I had a laminectomy on 3 vertebrae and was skiing 6 weeks post surgery. It was remarkable how immediate the pain was gone. Pre-surgery, transitioning from sitting to standing for months took the top of my head off! The next morning after surgery I felt like running up and down the hospital hallway. My surgeon skied so when I told him I had a trip planned to Seth's in six weeks he cleared me to ski just not to fall!
  8. Thanks @skoot1123, I happen to think my skis are easy on the eyes too!
  9. As much as we here in the midwest bitch and complain about the weather, this September is one to remember! Just got done skiing tonight on Sept 23 in Michigan with just a heater top and shorts. The water is still 74 and I was perfectly comfortable. We've only had 2 rainy days and the rest have been sunny, warm and glorious. Even greater is the 10 day forecast is nothing but sunny and warm! Sure makes the upcoming end of the season easier to handle!
  10. Having a skiing wife who can also drive the boat is a double bonus! Plus I never get any crap about skiing, only when I'm going and she can't.
  11. Hey ballers my wife hurt her back 3 weeks ago and has not be able to ski. Needless to say she is not a happy camper! I'm thinking of buying her a power vest to help her get back to skiing and help prevent future episodes. They are not the cheapest purchase so I wanted to get some opinions about the function of the vest. She is a PT so she is somewhat skeptical. I know there other PT's and medical people that post, maybe you've had experience with the vest. She has DDD of the lumbar spine, L4-5,S1 with an acute strain from skiing. Thanks
  12. There is a reason for Will missing the gates, he couldn't see them! I was standing right at two ball and it was dark as hell. Add to that it was misting/raining, dark and 60 degrees, I'm amazed there were not more missed gates. I asked his wife if he knew whether or not he missed and he didn't know.
  13. Hope to see you all this weekend in Milwaukee. Stop by and check out my skis, I'll be right next to the skiers tent.
  14. I'll echo that Lyman should only be thanked for his support of the Malibu cup. It is an amazing site and the skiing reflected that. As far as no vendors being there, what am I, chopped liver? I was there the whole day, and while not many were in attendance, I talked to a bunch of wonderful people. I even made a few sales which made watching the great skiing even better!
  15. Hey Ballers, proud to announce that the ProSkiTour has selected DBski to provide the trophies for another Elite tournament the Malibu Cup. The Cup is being held this Fri./Sat. in Tuscaloosa, Al. A bit of a change as I did actual trophy/cups vs. my skis, check out the picture. Thanks again to the ProSkiTour and hope to see you all this weekend!
  16. Wait until you get old enough that you start getting ear hair!
  17. Modano, a good Michigan-born player, eh!
  18. Detroit not a car town anymore? After living in southeast MI for 61 years I can't even begin to comment how wrong that statement is! You have no idea how deeply connected we are to cars and the culture. Be it the manufacturers, suppliers, racing, the hot rod scene, cars and everything about them rule the Detroit area. We have the largest new car show in the world, the largest hot rod show in the world and the largest single day auto event in the world (Dreamcruise). On top of that the Wings lead all of pro sports with a 21 year streak of making the playoffs and have one of the best young teams in the league this year! Go Wings!
  19. We use the flexible cutting boards and they have lasted for over 2 years. I also cut the shape closer to the handle and use a center zip tie. I've had no interference issues getting back on the handle.
  20. I had the same problem in explorer, had to go to chrome to get it to work.
  21. It's a Labfest! I often joke the only reason we bought a house on the lake was to keep the dogs happy.
  22. After reading the thread about the passing of @MS's pup it's seems alot of ballers are just as in love with their furballs as they are with skiing. I'm fortunate to live on a lake and I would guess 90-95% of the homes have at least one dog. Dogs and water just go together. To honor all the dogs we've had over the years and the one we have now, lets post some of the best dog/water pictures you have. It's winter and most of us are not skiing so dig out your best shots of Rover. I'll start with a picture or our favorite lab of all time towing in one of our present dogs from the deep water.
  23. Sorry for your loss. Being a long time dog guy I've been through this too many times, never gets easy. It's even harder because as I type this my 11 year old lab is curled up at my feet dreaming of chasing ducks and my 7 year old is giving me the look that it is time for the morning walk!
  24. @AdamCord , have you checked out Shopbot CNC machines? I use one of their smaller machines to cut the graphics and smaller parts of my wood decorative skis. They are fairly reasonably priced. I find this thread really interesting as building things yourself whether its skis, boats, cars or houses is incrediably rewarding. Seems like this is common trait to alot of skiers.
