  1. Here is where we spend our summer of fun! There are only four of us that lease this reclaimed sand/gravel pit so the only limit to the number of sets are time and old age. This has been one of the nicest summer and falls in Michigan in quite a few years, in fact they are calling for the 80's this week1
  2. Holy crap, I thought I had alot of equipment. Thats all one guy's stuff?
  3. Go to Bed, Bath and whatever it is and get the cutting mats that roll up. I made mine out one and its been on my handle for over 2 years. Plus you get a cool cow or pig graphic on the plastic!
  4. Thanks for the oak offer. what a bummer of a way to get some firewood! I cut almost all my wood to 4/4 as my skis are made of thin resawed layers. The tree was huge! One of the best stories was when the big ash died between my house and the lake. I had a guy drop the tree so I didn't KO the house. I cut the logs to 8' and rolled them into the lake. Hooked them up to the Malibu and towed them over to the public ramp where my wife was waiting with the boat trailer. Floated them up on the bunks and off to the sawmill. You should have seen the looks on the wally's faces when I came into the dock with the logs behind me. Told them this happened all the time and that you sure don't want to boat here!
  5. I actually do harvest downed trees for there wood. A big ass cherry went down in my neighbors yard and I got over 500 bd ft of lumber out of it. I've used cherry , ash, hickory and oak all from trees around my house. The frustrating part is that there a bunch of huge walnut trees all around but the damn things won't die or blow down!
  6. As promised here are the jump skis for the Malibu Open, See ya there!
  7. Don't worry jumpers, just came in from my shop and yours are almost done. I'll post them next week.
  8. Still working on those, I'll get back to you :)
  9. Just finished up the slalom trophies for the Open. Hope to see a bunch of you fellow ballers there, stop by my booth for a chat.
  10. When I ship my skis I build wood boxes. I use 1/2" pine for the sides and 1/8" plywood for the top and bottom. I glue and nail the sides and bottom and screw the top on. After that I use shipping tape and tape all the edges. I clearly write "Handle with care" all over the box. I've used USPS for years and until lately have had no problems. Recently that changed and two times they somehow managed to tear off the end of the box. I will give them credit because both times I filed insurance claims they settled with no questions. I even got the check fairly quickly.

  12. As an old fart skier I always claimed most of my skiing problems originated from the ankles up. I'm a recreational course skier and run 15/22 off at 32. I've been on a 2010 Radar alloy Senate (the ugliest ski ever made) and have always been happy with it. Believe it or not but my wife persuaded me that I needed a new ski. I picked up a left over '15 Senate Graphite last winter ($400 new in the box) and have skied it about 6 sets. WOW! Either I somehow got better over the long winter layoff or skis have advanced in 5 years. It is noticeably faster off the ball and through the wakes and I'm just waiting for the next ball. So if you're one of those guys that thinks that Ol' reliable is good enough, try a new ski! Hell I might get really crazy and try messing with the fin.
  13. @TWB and I set a new personnal record this year. Rolled into the site last Sat. with the boat on the trailer, 3 hours later we're taking our first sets in the course. In that time we set up the balls, got the lift in and installed the dock. A little tired but felt great to get back to skiing!
  14. The front of the super has rocker starting halfway between the boot and the logo. The rest is flat. I think the discussion has confirmed that it is going to be wall art. My wife even gave me the OK to display it when she got home.
  15. My neighbor was cleaning out his garage and this was in the dump pile. He said they used to ski on it back in the sixties, the only problem was they had to go really fast. No S--T, its only 38" long! Anybody else ever see one? @TWB says we have to ski it this summer! I don't think I'm quite young or dumb enough to try it.
  16. The other question is how many stickers do you put on your ski. I just got a new Senate so for me I have to put a DBski sticker on it.
  17. I have an older 67" that I'll sell once I get used to my new Senate graphite.
  18. The course in Kauai is definitely gone, skied there a couple of years ago.
  19. Getting access to a course before the age of 50 so I didn't have 25 years of bad habits to unlearn!
  20. I bought a leftover 15 Graphite Senate early this winter and its been in the living room since. Its just sitting there teasing me, come on spring!
  21. @0ldjeep love the efie! Please tell me your not putting a chevy in it.
  22. I live on a public lake with a course that I can ski free anytime. The course is in the middle of the lake so conditions even early are marginal. I'm lucky to be in a group of five other guys and we lease an old sand/gravel pit 9 miles from my house. Its an ideal 2100' long and skis fantastic. There is nothing like private water and being able to ski anytime. Beats the hell out of getting up at 6:00 am like we used to. The $800 a year is the easiest bill I pay all year!
  23. Horton, thanks for the shout out for my skis! Pretty busy right now filling holiday orders but I'm sure I can get a few more done before Christmas.
