    new engine

It's crazy how much horsepower is easily available these days. I'm old enough to remember when 400 HP was a big f---ing deal. The new GT 500, 760 HP with a full warranty. It also idles at 700 rpm's and gets over 20 mpg on the highway.

@kurtis500 Haven't seen a whole lot of Mopars in ski boats!
  4. An interesting test of the placebo effect would be a blind test. Take a top level skier and without telling him (or her) either change or not change a fin adjustment. Have them take a set and see if they can correctly say what was done. Repeating this several times would be interesting. I know at my level 99.9% of my problems are above the ankles not below!
  5. He's putting in a chevy engine why not chevy wheels
  6. @OTF Cool guitars! Do you CNC the bodies? When I purchased my CNC you got a 2 day class. In the class were a couple of guitar builders who said they built guitars for Zak Wylde. I'd love to build a guitar only problem I have absolutely no musical talent. I have to be one of the most tone deaf people in the world. Guess that's why I've always admired great musicians.
  7. Since most of us are only dreaming of skiing right now how are you filling your time? In Michigan not only can't I ski, you basically can't do anything! Thank God I have a shop. Just got done with a ski related table and lamp as a Christmas present for the wife. Thought you all might enjoy a view. The big news for me is more power for the hot rod! Just shipped the engine back to the builder today, aluminum heads, roller cam and 350 HP. Can't wait for spring on two counts, skiing and burnouts!
  8. I agree totally about no politics on BOS, just wish everyone wasn't pigeoned holed as a lib or a conservative. There are a lot of us in the middle.
  9. I'm 67 and I had the most days/sets in our small group. I'm the oldest with the next being 9 years my junior. I don't ski that hard knowing one bad fall could be the end of it all. Saying that I still don't foresee ending anytime soon. Down the road I'll probably give up the course and just switch to freeskiing.
  10. @DW Didn't know you were a Spartan, Go Green!
  11. I was also there. Could only hope to have half that number of people at a pro tournament today! It was packed.
  12. I have nothing but good things to say about Factory Five! If anyone is even considering building one, go for it!
  13. It's a Factory Five kit car. You get a bare tube frame, fiberglass body and about 40 boxes of parts and you put it together. It's a little more than just bolt together but with a little diligence it's doable. You provide the drive train, rear end and wheel/ tires and every other nut, bolt, whatever is in the kit. I received my kit middle of Nov. '18 and was driving it beginning of April '19. It was a fantastic way to spend a Michigan winter! Factoryfive.com
  14. I ski with a RTP, really helps. Another way to reduce the stress of the deep water start is the jump start. If your site allows it, starting standing on your rear foot and jumping up just when the rope hits dramatically reduces the strain on your back. If you ski with the same driver most of the time you can get in a rhythm to the point where it's almost like starting standing on top of the water. At our site we have an area at both ends set up just to do this. The jump start has allowed my main ski partner to keep skiing after he really screwed up his back last year. He's so dependent on it that if he falls he gets back in the boat and we motor back to the end.
  15. Read your E-mail!!! I told you what was coming. Seriously, thanks, great unboxing. Don't worry the wood boxes will be back! I sent these skis UPS and they don't accept wood. Usually use USPS but they have not been what you could say reliable lately and wanted to make sure you got your skis on time.
  16. @NikolG Great skiing by Blaze, hope you have enough space on the wall for all my skis he's won!
  17. Sucks that I'm not there but excellent production on the webcast. TWBC has really raised their game, multiple cameras everywhere and the whole time I watched no glitches at all! Was kind of cool to be in my shop putting the finishing touches on Horton's skis while watching the skiers compete for the ones I just shipped out. I still would much rather be there!
  18. It's time for the annual unveiling of the Malibu Open trophy skis. Considering the times it looks like a stellar field! Unfortunately for the first time in 10 years I will be unable to attend, My wife is the executive director of an assisted living facility. Due to her and her staff's diligence they do not have covid in the building. The risk of me contracting something traveling to and from Charleston is low but I have to make the responsible decision and not go. I'm sure things at the tournament will be fine. If I brought anything home I'd be dogmeat! It's killing me not to go. It's great that I'll be able to watch The Waterski Companies broadcast but there is nothing like watching Pro skiing live! So if were going to be looking for my booth, so sorry, hopefully next year!
  19. As soon as I bitch about USPS the ski I sent to CT. arrived today on time! Now what do I do the next time?
  20. I have always shipped my skis USPS as there is a little post office about 2 miles from my house. Out where I live that is close. Last month I shipped a ski to Royal Oak, MI which is about 75 miles away. Scheduled delivery was the next day, it took 3 WEEKS!!!!. A ski rack to Cleveland took 2 1/2 weeks. Don't know why but I just sent one to CT. this week. Hopefully it will get there, as it is a championship ski needed by September 1. I'm pretty sure that will be the last time I use USPS for awhile until and if things settle down.
