  1. For $80,000 "boat show special" what are they giving away? The wax job? Sheesh. No wonder this sport has drifted to the elite and wealthy. Gotta think they could offer a good boat for less than $40,00
  2. A curved or bent handle has saved many season for me. Although I did change technique to avoid slack line hits, having the curved handle prevents or at least reduced medial epicondylitis (elbow pain).
  3. Ski Nautique 1995 1200+ hours in mint condition! love this boat.
  4. Matt Rini is not far from the airport in Orlando. Great site, great coach. AM in same area. You can't go wrong in Orlando !,
  5. Had issues a while back ,more than 3 months ago. But now nothing I can recall OS 7.1.1 Ipad model mc705ca
  6. Many factors dictate progress as outlined above. It is also true that many of the factors mentioned above from the ski to the driver, if deficient, or let's say "not ideal" will hold you back! IMHO the biggest influence on improving to shorter lines or faster speeds is consistency. Nothing beats time on the water. Being from the great white north, when I get to ski more than 1 set per day of each weekend it's bonus time. This past October I went to FL and skied 9 days in a row 2-3 sets per day. I jumped from running -28 at 32 mph to running pretty consistently -32 off at a soft 34mph. And I also had 2 of the easiest -32s of my life (wish I could feel that every time!) but I digress. Being able to build on your last set instead of "rebuilding" from the last set that was a week or two ago makes a HUGE difference! Getting at least 9 sets in over 7 days is the goal I'd say because it lets you spend more time at your best rather building up for a day or two when you get back to it. Yes ski, driver, coaching especially all have an important influence in your improvement, but getting consistent almost daily sets in is key.
  7. Geez that ski is stable and fast in the arc of the turn around the buoy. Then again TW could run -35 on a paddle I'm sure. But it, and he, did look great!
  8. @Phil2360‌ we've been shooting Canon 7d for 2 years now and love 8fps! Manual focus at each drop and over expose by .5 stop seems to work well. From the boat, we use the 4.0 70-210 and it does great, although like @SM said you cannot beat buying good glass and some of our best shots come from our L F 1.8 85mm prime lens. Spectacular! But my number 1 recommendation is this: Get out of the towboat! The best slalom pics I've ever seen including this one of me is from another boat.
  9. Hmmm.... Jumping with a speedo! Bravery redefined! Plus "35 miles per hour and over 50 in a turn"! (Maybe 24! Tops) Great to see though
  10. @ab ah, the late, great hydrodyne. A wake way ahead of its time.
  11. Was at matts today for a set between Whitney and a gang from Portugal, Greece and New Zealand in for the 32+ worlds. What a great site, great coach. He corrected 1 thing and I ran one of the easiest -32's of my life. Called him back today and booked a set for early tomorrow morning. Impressive. Highly recommended ! @cragginshred‌ your old green lithium is doing just great btw!
  12. Booked in with him tomorrow Saturday. Can't wait. He's familiar with the lithium Vapor right? (Canadian sarcasm)
  13. @Skoot1123‌ pizza at Anthony's - check ! @true_skier_1172‌ tour at CC - check! Still haven't done Flyboarding or airboat tour. (Weather has been very cooperative for slalom)
  14. We had KC at the site this week and at each of our first sets with him we spent almost the whole set talking about getting high on the boat. To paraphrase KC, getting high and wide does a few things that are desirable on entry, first it allows you to make a turn at course width that is really a set up turn for 2, 4 and 6 ball. (Especially the 2 ball) Second and more importantly it allows you enough time to turn smoothly, progressively, and with angle and intensity peaking behind the boat when it is most powerful and efficient. Going to hard in the cut for 1 ball too early and not all the way wide will wake the sleeping beast that is ZeroOff! Thus giving gas and speed at a very bad time in the course- before 1 ball. If the timing and width is right, you come into 1ball with correct speed, stance, preparedness and especially line tension. If speed is late on turn in, we lose line tension and thus a very important mechanical point of balance to be able to exit the turn well. So we all changed our setup to the KC/Chet method with great results. Pierre # 1 ran 8 passes in a row of -32 off and Pierre #2 ran -35 off smoother than he ran -28 earlier in the week. So this thinking is really paying off. And makes sense, at least for us this week. Thanks KC!
  15. Update: Conditions so-so, sunny, 80 deg glass water for average 4 hrs a day HO-hum another day in paradise. Our session with KC was tremendous! @Than_Bogan‌ What a great young man, and I'm not talking about his skiing. We truly are lucky to have such great ambassadors in our sport. Everyone's improving, especially me, I have lots to correct. KC at -39.5 below. Nice drive Pierre
  16. Awesome ,! Just arrived, did $350 damage at performance, (it's on the way don't you know) and it's hot hot hot! New gloves, vest and high level of excitement and anticipation to be skiing in Mecca with great friends on a semi private course for the next 9 days. Pich me.
  17. Ok, so we leave tomorrow for FL! Planned: - KC at our site on Tuesday - Andy on Wednesday - Rini, when we can get in - Museum no firm time/day yet - Flyboarding, no firm time/day yet - Airboat alligators, same - Performance ski & surf, as soon as we get there! Gotta get new armour for my now soft hands. - Maybe: lucky Lowe, jack Travers. Various restaurants that Ballers suggested, thanks. Weather looks suspect but if it's calm and not raining all day were good! Having trouble sleeping, haven't skied in 3 weeks and my body and hands are now soft. It'll be great, I'm sure so long as the gator stays by bob Lapoints dock! Any last ideas, thoughts? Thanks so much for all the input. Gw
  18. @disland‌ totally agree with that statement, what other sport can you call up the Tiger Woods of the sport and have a chat about technique? And the reason is not just numbers, it's because of the spirit of the sport and the people in it, generous, friendly and kind. Great don't you think ?
  19. Fantastic company built by people that believe customer service is at the top of the list. Wish they had the same status as ZO for tournament skiing.
  20. Isn't there a shortage of handbags and boots? Shouldn't say that, my son the aspiring vet would not be amused! But sounds like a place to put on the list, and @mike_mapple‌ "4' or so,." Does that mean it might be 8'? Cue the Jaws soundtrack.
  21. I crave the combination of high exertion, high speed and high intensity. I hyper-focus more than any other sport that I've done. How many sports do you know that puts sooo much intensive work and technique into 16 to 17 seconds. Awesome!
  22. Great info guys @skinut @ChadW‌ Does he have his own site or is affiliated with someone else?
  23. Great tips @6balls‌. My buddy Pierre and Diane were there last year at the same time and had super calm water and no gators. What time of year were you down there? Hopefully jet skiers were vacationers too not locals and it was a 1 time thing for you. Will bring flip-flops fer shur So far tentatively planning Afternoon with KC Trip to mapple for a seT ! Flyboard possible Rini's possible, where is his training site? Must trip to Performance. Sheesh all that and 2-3 sets a day? Back to the weight training !
