  1. I'm really looking forward to this review. The D3 website statement of "skiers who ride the middle to back of the ski and want a quick turning ski will want to try the NRG" is intriguing.
  2. Excellent finals and I enjoyed Freddy's and Zack's commentary. I agree with Freddy that the Big Dawgs should ski at 35mph.
  3. Awesome video indeed. Interesting to see Mastercraft as the title sponsor.
  4. My guess is that Radar is viewed as a worthy competitor to the Nats title sponsor whereas O'Brien not so much.
  5. Since we are touching on max speeds, I'll add that I would really like to see MM slalom at 35mph so it is materially different than the age divisions.
  6. Ouch! Going to check my release before my next set!
  7. Shadow (80's Connelly ski), Stiletto
  8. What's the body of water just adjacent (south) of Mystic? Potential practice lake, demos, swimming etc?
  9. I've noticed other threads mentioning trying to ski smooth, so I thought I would share this story. In June 2014, I was in the market for a new ski. At that time I was about 50% running 35off at 34mph. Andy Mapple was in the Houston area so I did a demo set riding the 6.1 with Andy in the boat. After a couple of (I thought) smooth 32s we shortened to 35 and I got 2. While sitting in the water, he could tell I was bummed and here's what he told me - which no one ever told me before (my wife was videoing in the boat and kept the camera rolling): "Don’t try to be smooth. OK that sounds kind of funny, but being strong, quick and aggressive and a sense of urgency from the apex of the turn…your pulls should always start from the apex, not around the buoy, pull always from the apex. An aggressive skier will make a pass look smooth. If you try to be smooth, you’re reacting slow and then things go away from you. When you see the pros and you see them run passes, josh it’s so smooth and so early, it’s because they are hitting it hit hard…quickly and where they need to and that becomes the result…is a smooth looking pass. 35off you’ve got to hit it, smooth will happen. It will look smooth if you do it right, but don’t try to manufacture smooth." I proceeded to run the next two passes at 35 and purchased that exact ski. So as the new ski season approaches and I get back into skiing shape, I will replay the GOAT's words and focus less on being smooth and more on hitting it hard where I need to.
  10. I'm LFF and at 34mph so I enjoy watching her ski and other LFF females ski as I think they rely more on technique than brut strength.
  11. If you can wait and demo the ski before buying one, that is the safest way to be happy with your purchase.
  12. Extra rounds would better justify the expense and time off from work. If its just me skiing one round to place 25th or so, more than likely I don't go to Nationals or Regionals. My wife and kids would probably ski the class C if available.
  13. I have a 67.5 and live close by so you could have a look at it. Just send me a text - two eight one, nine seven nine, five one one seven. David
  14. My Wakeye is already on the way and I purchased a couple of accessories. Excellent customer service!
  15. Thank you very much John and Wakeye! I video almost every set as I rely mostly on self coaching. The Wakeye will certainly help and get lots of use!
  16. If WPB and other potential host sites need additional revenue, I would pay $50 for four passes under the lights. I'm guessing other would too.
  17. Any pictures of the completed H2H bracket and handicap round with scores? Looked like epic conditions.
  18. Kelvin, thanks for posting. I guess they did not do a straw pole for #4 - How to qualify for nationals?
  19. Since 2017 will be the 75th Nationals, I would hope for a site that can attract a large turn out. We just need an Okeeheelee in the middle of the U.S.
  20. Kris & Bob LaPoint - Growing up and competing against each other. Ski design from wooden skis to present day and how has that changed the technique required to be successful as well as speed control. Where do they see the sport going in the next 10-20 years and can the glory years be recaptured?
  21. A Hall of Fame legend told me when discussing preventing injuries, "You've got to know when to let go of the handle bars."
  22. Great skiing indeed! Have the handicap winners been announced?
  23. Yes, I have always thought there should be something materially different to MM, like skiing at 35mph. I was a bit surprised to see a recently retired OW skiing W3 slalom, so not sure how MW can be made materially different than the age groups.
