  1. My daughter videoed my passes from the end of the turnpike lake. When I watched the videos, on my 22 and 32off passes (34mph) the right hand gate ball went under the water as I went through the gates. I got credit for the gates, but was surprised they went under water. Just assumed that only happened at slower speeds and longer line lengths. I think gates should not be judged for B1/G1 & B2/G2. I don't see the harm in giving the younger skiers a break, they are not skiing max speed for their gender anyway.
  2. Daughter G2 slalom on Wednesday, Son B1 slalom and tricks Thursday, Me M4 slalom Saturday, and going to Disney on Sunday.
  3. As a spectator, there is more than enough idle time between passes. Another delay of a gate review turn people off. I understand rules are rules, but I also want the sport to grow. If a gate change can help, let's get it done.
  4. Here's what Gordon's gate looks like. The additional ball is 14m (approx 45.9 feet) in front of the right hand gate ball. Seems reasonable to me.
  5. @Horton As we all know, the gate balls can move as the skier enters the course, the turn balls don't. The sport needs to do everything within reason to make it more skier, spectator and logistically friendly or the participation numbers and $$$ will keep declining.
  6. Cool. Good to hear Charles is running 39! Big Dawg 2014!
  7. Shane H - What has your M6 been doing lately? FYI - I lost your number when my phone took a dip in a glass of Iced tea.
  8. Focusing on "landing on edge" after coming off the second wake helps me hold my edge. You should be able to feel the difference between landing flat vs on edge.
  9. My 10yr old son and 13yr old daughter ski in tournaments with me. I had a family rule that they had to be able to run two passes before entering their first tournament, which they both accomplished their first tournament (novice) and came home with trophies. Two years later they are both still hooked and this past weekend was the first tournament we all shortened the line. Fun stuff!
  10. Using the color of the loop and the distance to the ball should be simple enough for Joe Public e.g. "Purple doesn't reach the buoy".
  11. Shane, I would be interested in trying out the 67 A3 if possible.
  12. Just curious, does anyone ski on the lake at Daytona International Speedway?
  13. I use a free software called Kinovea. It can do slide by slide playback and frame by frame as well.
  14. I video as often as I can - my kids hate doing it but it really helps me compare my form to skiers better than me that I want to emulate. I'm left foot forward so I like to compare form with CP.
  15. S2 in 2012. PB just 1/2 ball increase over the A1 but was way more consistent with the S2. This year I'm looking forward to the new ZO + setting over trying a new ski.
  16. Guilty as charged! I've only lived in California and Texas, thus hate being cold. Is it wimpy to use a hot water shower in 70F air and 65F temp water?
  17. Guys, thank you for your comments. Much appreciated.
  18. Chuck, I currently ski on a 66.5 S2 and would appreciate your comments on what you like about the Nano One over the S2. I ski at 34mph 98 ball tournament average. Thanks.
  19. I got back into skiing tournaments in 2010 after a 15 year hiatus. My 2013 goal is to ski on the Varsity lake at Nationals this year (we called the turnpike lake the JV lake).
  20. theheidss, I would recommend the 2012 model as the ski was redesigned in 2012 (stepped bottom). My wife loves her 65 Triumph and skis the course at 24-28mph 15off. I did buy a HO syndicate fin so we could make small adjustments to the fin setting. There is a 2012 65 Triumph on ski-it-again.com listing SIA21520. Good luck, there is nothing more fun than skiing in college!
  21. I'm 6'2'' 180-185 and went from a 67 A1 (ran 35off 34mph 3-4 times in 2011) to a 66.5 S2 this spring and running 35off about 60% of the time. The 66.5 S2 and 67.5 A1 are very close to the same surface area. The thing I like about the S2 is if I get on my back foot on my off side, I can typically make it to the next ball and still have a chance to run the pass.
  22. Hmmm, I have a ski buddy that wants a N1 and is a United Airlines pilot...
  23. Will the left foot forward skiers have a big advantage with the 4 ball course? Just one true off side turn.
  24. If anyone out there has any influence on next year's Nationals schedule of events, having OM & OW close to the little kids events was great! It was my 9yr old's first Nationals (B1 slalom) and he had a thrill getting autographs from Nate, Parish, Wilson bros, Rossi etc. He didn't ski as well as he wanted to, but his shirt full of autographs will be his biggest memory of the event and motivation to coming back next year.
