  1. I made first -28 in Jan his year then repeated several times into early summer. I can say it is way more intense than -22,...and I was way more likely to get injured with my sub-optimal form at that line length. Because I play in a band and rock climb up to 5.12 plus (and want to continue those activities un injured) I opted to stay at -22 and -25 the rest of the summer (apart from the 2 months our Cali lake was without water). People who know nothing about rock climbing think I'm nuts but I feel feel much more vulnerable to injury skiing. Once you do your rehab you will know what to do!
  2. That looks almost as inviting as the lake I ski at
  3. The site I ski at was never compacted correctly and is not your typical high dollar place. It is close to home and it is never crowded with a great bunch of owners/members who ski there. It is however, very 'slow' water due to the amount of suspended dirt in the water. One of the owners who skis at the nearby Delta or other tournament sites commented about the big difference and how much harder it is to ski here. This got me thinking about ways to increase the glide of the ski. My Vapor has a wing at the typical 9*, who would agree bring it to 7* then 5* would give me more glide and make it more compatible to 'faster' water? My nephews wondered why I ski in chocolate milk. In Cali we are just happy to have water and be skiing!
  4. @eleeski let me know when you want to go rock climbing with me. You will not get a harness or rope though! Helmet optional
  5. Thanks for all the replies fellas. . I actually made the mistake of trying knuckles up pull ups to save my right brachioradialis from being so sore and it resulted in getting puled forward from the lumbar spine -the slack hit did not help. I am on the fence as to get the Valeo more rigid belt or a more neoprene dynamic one.
  6. Yes Mark short term use for sure, but back injuries and blown discs are a reality in this sport. When flared up use the belt! This actually looks a little more dynamic for movement and a little wider dispersion of support. http://www.simmsfishing.com/backmagic-wading-belt.html
  7. Too many slack hit running ugly -28's has caused me to return to -22 to dial some things in. In addition to this I have a really sore back that really hurts when I get pulled up by the boat. This thread is for those of you who use back belts, which ones are suggested?
  8. Someone said there is a course on Fallen leaf lake,. that would be amazing (anyone one know if it's true)? For those who don't know Fallen leaf is a small ridge over from Emerald bay on Tahoe.
  9. Why don't you just put a 'Buy it now' on this thread? I want a blue one bad after reading this!
  10. It worked I ran back to back -28's yesterday at my home lake a PB! Now I have to get on my front foot going into 1/3/5 and qute pulling the rope back across my hip
  11. I ran my 1st -28 this past Jan then had an injury for most of March. The past 3 weeks I have ramped it back up and feel good! I only backed down .2 rpms last weekend to get around 3 ball at -28. The video revealed some very impatient handle control pulling it in ect. which tells me I was rushed and had not time to be patient in the turn. I am thinking backing the speed down .4-5 this weekend. What are some thoughts out there regarding this and how much you might slow it down just getting into -28?
  12. This is what I am shooting for!
  13. Interesting,.. I watch a lot of skiing video and Nate, Freddy, Regina, TW, on and on do not have straight legs. In fact they drop their hips overtly. There are a couple of styles out there and the straight up and down knees straight does not work for me. @kfennell JimBrake made the statement that helped me re think this 'falling away is putting the brakes on while trying to accelerate' @ozski the rope is forming a line from my ankles/hips/and shoulders shooting for what TW would coach me to do!
  14. I have been working on dropping my hips attempting to allow my COM to lead the way as opposed to just leaning back which is how I used to try and put the ski on edge in my pull out. How does this look?
  15. @mrpreuss than you for the input I did not mean to not respond to what you said -makes sense! By the way my profile pic was from 4 years ago when I was skiing -15, 30mph and was a total noob!
  16. @Horton yeah going to 1/3/5 I am certainly at my best stack. Staying on handle, but I am sure my hips are not over the front foot and i need to bend my knees too.
  17. My offside turn (RFF) needs a lot of work. Rushing it and pulling the handle back in are two big issues. A veteran skier I get to ski with is telling me to ski my left hip back to the handle on the 1/3/5 to hook up in a better position. It going into the ball I think about it but as the moment arrives to turn I jam the ski banditry to force it. How have you guys made your off side turn look like the onside?
  18. My home lake 'New Melones' is in the top 5 largest lakes in Cali and sits at 20% capacity. The Feds are currently releasing 'pulse flows' - massive amounts of water released for salmon down the river and the water ultimately gone into the ocean while the cattle ranchers and other farmers get the shaft. Two years ago as Melons dropped rapidly I joined a private club an hour down the hill. My skiing has gotten much better, but the club has to now pump water from their well due to the creek water drying up. If that dries up were done.
  19. Great profession! At 23 wow, I'm impressed!
  20. The Columbia river sends all that water straight out to the sea. Pipe it south through Oregon straight to Ca!
  21. Today at Sunspray in Nor Cal. Water now coming in from well -much slower than last year due to drought. Unsure if it will be pumping all summer?
  22. A local friend just turned 80. Not only does he still free ski on a single but he does it with two total knee replacements!
  23. I went with their top of the line skis way before I was ready for them and never regretted it! Riding the Vapor lithium now and love it!
  24. @Finnyski yes any numbness results from an irritated and or inflamed nerve,.sounds like the ulnar nerve. Look into nerve glides and slides for the ulnar nerve -non symptomatic though. Also at night while sleeping keep that elbow from flexion or bent as this will keep the ulnar nerve 'lit' up.
