  1. Maybe one chance of hope is to create an entity for tournaments. BOS Watersports Events, LLC. Create, sponsor, and run tournaments etc. Than you can write off a lot, such as travel expenses.
  2. Sounds like it's a worth the effort to grab the deductions, if we're talking thousands.
  3. So it's a windfall if a boat comes with a galvanized trailer, if you can overlook the 'ugliness'.
  4. Just curious on how much write offs are we talking here. Are we talking about cost of boat, skis, bindings, tow vehicle, etc. Are we talking about thousands or hundreds?
  5. So, this is a consideration if you store your trailer outside where the elements will try their best to deteriorate it. Question is, are the galvanized trailer more expensive than the glossy painted ones from the factory? Second question, do most people care whether it is galvanized or not? How about single vs tandem axles? I know some states have requirements for tandems.
  6. I suppose the high jump reference also applies to long jump as well. That is, which is the push off foot.
  7. wow, less than a handful of left handed writer so far.
  8. 'He said air was 0C...' my mistake. I read it as 0 degrees C water. Need to get my eyes checked, or drink less.
  9. oh, that 4 'C', not 'F'. That's a 'big' difference, just go ski and have fun. uh, isn't 0 C = solid ice?
  10. I'm just curious on why you didn't just buy something like this: http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=RM0003 for $1.67, and install it with a very thin gasket sealer. I don't think you need to crank on the housing bolts. As mentioned previously, you don't want to deal with a snapped bolt.
  11. As far as I know, Texas state has an agreement with SMRR for training. SMRR is a fantastic site. One of the best in my opinion.
  12. @Kelvin...that WAS what I said,...'thus one would expect about a 16% increase in rpm.'
  13. and you would expect a better hole shot.
  14. I know there are many factors in prop design and performance. A 13 pitch moves the boat appx 16% less than a 15.5, thus one would expect about a 16% increase in rpm. someone just have to buy and plug one onto their 200.
  15. How about very simple handicap and not likely get creamed by someone breaking out. Here's my reasoning, chances are there will be a big handfuls of skiers entering that get into low to mid 39s. AND someone who has scores in the 38s are probably consistent at that level. A 35 skier will likely break out at best to 1 at 39. The handicap: Never ran 38 = 2, 35 = 3, 32 or less = 6
  16. As of now, AWSA is contributing to wakeboarding bid to the olympics. 3 event is a long long shot to be considered to the games as I see it, unless they are cable driven. I think AWSA can/should find a better use of the membership funds, since olympics is out of reach.
  17. '...Fin, block and foil sold separate.' I don't think there's any other way to interpret this. $1,750 for the setup if my math is correct. Of course you can 'save' $10 for going without the wing. And if tricking with it, then another $140. $1,600 vs $1,750 is really not much difference when you put it on plastic.
  18. 'Lb's of pressure taken when the boat hits.' It seems that that can be very high, depending on skier weight, amount of rope slack, boat speed, etc. For Gs, it depends on are you talking about average sustaining or peak. Both are relative short duration, and of course peak is very short. So from observations, it seems 1.5 to 2 for sustaining and 3 to 4 for peak are reasonable.
  19. I see several Houston area property listings in Ski-it-again.com. Seems to me that you cannot go wrong with any of the sites.
  20. I'm in the minorities to think it's cool. But I'm quite sure that if it's on my boat lift, it would be a little too much for me a neighbors after 2 two weeks. Makes a good poster.
