  1. That image is awesome! Would be cool to see one for the time since.
  2. @The_MS funny how you are holding the media to a standard that you aren't holding the president of the United States to.
  3. Some of the comments at the beginning of this thread are not aging well.
  4. Posted on the GOODE blog and sent via newsletter back in late February: http://goode.com/celebratedave/
  5. @Horton Of the two lists (Elite and IWWF Ranking), the Elite list should be the let's-put-pro-skiing-in-front-of-the-masses-and-pay-skiers-some-money-even-if-conditions-aren't-perfect list of the two. Cash purses and crowd sizes are (or should be in theory) inextricably linked.
  6. It's a good thing. Moomba is a show for the "hundreds of thousands" on the banks. It's not a R/L for ranking scores.
  7. Yeah, that darn media needlessly stoking fear and spreading false information.
  8. Gordon was such a nice guy and has had a huge impact in the sport. Condolences to his family and friends.
  9. @unksskis Funny you mention Tige. Right after posting my comment above I went to their website to see what they currently offered. They still have a 20-footer but it's not direct drive ...
  10. Maybe it's time for a new player to come up with a slalom tug designed specifically to pull tournaments and serve as club/ski school boats? I'm sure producing a 40k boat didn't look attractive/possible to anyone a few years ago. But with the Big 3 edging toward 100k-plus now, I wonder if that creates room for someone to come in at a 60-70k price point.
  11. L/R scores are already given more weight than C class scores. Two L/R scores can be used for your average without a penalty while you need 3 class C scores. This increases scores for those who ski L/Rs because a third, most often times lower score is then not considered. This might not be perfect, but I prefer it over a system that will make things more confusing. And let's face it, not all regions (or skiers' budgets for that matter) have the same access to L/Rs that others do.
  12. Thanks for the info @Bruce_Butterfield! We are staying in Aurora, so not too far from the cove you mentioned. We'll check it out.
  13. Booking a week on Cayuga Lake in late July and bringing the boat. Any slalom courses and/or ballers on the lake?
  14. One reason to sanction it would be that it would likely boost the number of entrants. While some people are looking for just a fun time on the water, many others (like myself) are looking for a score in the books too. Providing both would be a big lure.
  15. Awesome work Michelle! Hope you find some time to get back into skiing at some point.
  16. I take issue with what a previous commenter said: "I have no idea what the pattern of a sexual predator looks like, and unless you are on the crime task working sexual predator cases, I doubt anyone on here does as well ..." That's actually not true. The SafeSport training pretty exhaustively identifies these patterns and highlights things to look for. Just burying your head in the sand and saying "welp, who knows, who are we to judge, amirite?" is not an excuse for inaction and in fact helps predators continue to get away with things.
  17. They put on a fantastic Nationals so I'm sure they do a great job with Regionals as well.
  18. @Horton host Regionals in Bako #problemsolved
  19. Congrats and welcome to the club!
  20. @escmanaze so you are willing to completely disregard the findings of a professional, investigative body just because the Washington Post reported on them? You know the Post didn't do the investigation right, they just wrote an article about it. But that's enough for you to not believe any of the allegations? Wow.
  21. @gmut I would think that @BraceMaker's 3,822 posts (literally) put him firmly into the "real person" category.
  22. "The report also includes screen shots of digital messages between Smith and underage girls. In one, for example, he’d mentioned a “threesome” to a 14-year-old girl ..." @aupatking not exactly a "college boy with a high school girl" nor not newsworthy in my opinion. "'Outrage/call-out culture' has kinda become the zeitgeist in the US these days." @jhughes it's hard to tell from your post but are you criticizing "call-out culture?" Do you think this type of behavior SHOULDN'T be called out? As the father of two teenage girls I sure as hell want to know when there is a predator around my daughters.
  23. Go with the best deal you can get then use the savings to buy gas (or beer).
  24. @jpattigr maybe find out the minimum budget needed for something like this and start a kickstarter campaign? I'd put in some money.
