  1. This is a tricky one. In my view, you have to ski away for the score to be at 39. This would mean you were entering the course on the next pass at 41, meaning the lowest score you could get is 0@41, I think that equates to 114 @ 36 and 108 @ 34. If you fall after the gates, I still think that counts as a 6 NC, which to me would mean no run of of the opt, you get a score of 6 @ 38.
  2. @MS I love the feel on the MC, hate the feel on the SN. I moved to C2 yesterday and it felt better. @Roger , I suspect this is the case. The boat was delivered in January. I will work on getting the latest and greatest from the dealer.
  3. Hey guys, We have a 2016 SN with the 5.3L. I would like some opinions from drivers and skiers about how the boat feels. To me, the boat feels like it is always running on me. I never really understood the feeling until I skied my Nautique and a 2016 MC in one day. The MC gives me way more swing and feels more efficient. As a driver, the nautiques engine note is flat, unlike the MC, which you can hear it react to the skier load behind the boat. The Centurion (Horton's old blue 6.0L) and the TXi all feel similar to the MC, along with engine note change while skiing. Is this a similar feeling others are having with the 5.3L SN, or is it just my boat and I need to reflash the ZO? @Jody_Seal might be a huge help on this one.
  4. I agree with the confidence aspect of it. The biggest difference between 32 and 35 is intensity and direction through the wakes. At 32, you can run a pretty narrow line and run the pass with low intensity. If you don't amp up the intensity for 35, you will find you get later and later. I have had some really bad turns at 35/38 and still ran the pass due to the ability to generate direction across the course. Now to run 38, that is where the superior skill comes in. I know a lot of guys who can run 35 all day long, but 38 is impossible.
  5. @LeonL I post up video all the time. It has been really helpful. If I was trying to set the ski off of feel alone I have no idea where the fin would be at. Mine is on some settings that as a skier I feel 'meh' about, but overall it looks really good on video. For me, the best way to tune a ski is not to get too comfortable until you know it is close. You will change how you ski to make a ski work with mediocre settings. The Adams, as well as the rest of us, will help you sort things out.
  6. I added the washer to one of the skiers at my lake last night. He had a killer toe side turn but the heel side just sucked. I grabbed a 0.040" washer and threw it on there, never measured depth, too lazy and no time. He went out and had a killer heel side, best I have ever seen out of him, and the toe side stayed the same. I did look at the angle of the fin after doing this. It didn't seem like it changed the angle. As long as you get the other two screws on that side flat I don't see it changing the angle more than a degree or two. The fin block is probably more stiff than the carbon of the ski. The ski was a Green Radar Vapor, 66", I think. I am sure by this point in time everyone has already done this, but if you haven't and you feel like one side is lacking, I highly suggest it. I am believer in this, it is just trying to get others to believe as well.
  7. My suggestion is Orlando in general. Jodi Fishers is a pretty protected place for the spring, when most places are blown out, Jodis will be calm. He is great a setting you with a solid foundation that will allow you to build upon it all season. And since you were RAF, I know he always like seeing fellow Brits. If you do decide on him, let him know I steered you in that direction. Good luck in the decision and have fun in the desert over the winter.
  8. So it's better on gas. My question is the wake. It has to be better than the 200, but if its better than the TXi MC will have went from number 3 to number 1. And yes I think the TXi is a better overall wake than the 200.
  9. @ab. Swap the pucks under the dash and let me know. Our 13 200 had the same issue upon delivery. Krueger ended up telling us how to fix it.
  10. We shall see. I heard anything made past march is pretty good. Flex is a huge deal. I have a pretty stiff 66 and it feels awesome.
  11. Just started riding the A3 a week ago. I have 66 right now which is a little short for me, shuts down fast at 39. The ski is unbelievable. As of today I am at: L - 6.840 D - 2.508 T - 0.763 W - 7 Best settings so far. Probably ride these until the 67 arrives.
  12. @horton, I had my pro skier title for a few days, now it is gone! That sucks haha.
  13. I, as usual, skimmed this. The edge change begins to be important at 32, at whatever speed. Now the concept that you can ski like a 36mph pro at 34, pro or not, is wrong. The only skier I have seen edge change "early" at 34, short line or not, was Andy. Safe to say the only skier that skis like Andy is really Nate and it shows. The key to an efficient edge change is a good solid pull, load on the line. This, in engineering terms, flexes the ski, adds potential to the carbon fiber so the moment you unload the ski it rebounds and goes to the other edge. This is really a movement at or slightly after the second wake. I would say the biggest thing to work on is when you do get on edge, hold on the handle to the width of the buoy line, then a progressive reach and close at the finish will allow you get the load on the boat, and start all over again. I would be happy to try to explain more, but this is broad overview of what will help you get the space and time at 32off, even get tons of space at 35off. Controlled speed is a good thing! Don't be afraid.
  14. I skied behind one a long time ago. Turns on a dime, terrible bump at 22. I would stick to one of the big 3.
  15. Ralph Krueger, head coach of the Edmonton Oilers is Geena Krueger's, a fellow pro from Germany, dad. Had a long conversation with him at the Malibu Open over a few (maybe more) beers about hockey. He said in the off season he would always ski. It was awesome, caught me off guard when he said he was the head coach of the Oilers.
  16. Plain and simple, every boat is different. I know one of the promo guys in Michigan goes the MC factory and hand picks his boats. One of the best MC's I have skied behind. According to him there are 7 different molds, and obviously some are more tired, used, than others. I will say the CC I ski behind most of the time is a funny one. Super hard wake at 28, if you have a 190 lb driver and 120 lb passenger you have to put at least 50 lbs behind the driver to balance. The other two CC's in the state are better, with one being better than the other. Now talking about the TXi, it is as good as the 200. The wakes are similar, drives awesome, skis awesome. There is no trough behind the boat like there is on the MC. I must say, Malibu has built a solid boat. And I think towers help boats, puts some weight on the front of the boat and lifts the back of the boat. But that is also my opinion.
  17. I know this is probably weird, but I have a bent fin the bottom of the boat. Our lift can be unfriendly at times if the boat is put too far forward or the lift is not down far enough, but I digress. Does anyone know how to replace one of these? I took the screws out today and assumed it would come out with some force, the thing wouldn't budge. @jodyseal, can you help me out with this, or anyone really. Thanks Ballers!!
  18. All I have to say is, to get width at 39 and 41 you hold on to the handle forever.
  19. @spartanski, it is the site on triplett lane. The tournament is this weekend on Saturday, starting at 8am. This is our first record, I know Scott Tynan, Nate Smith, and Cale Burdick will be there, along with some other really good skiers. Reflex is awesome! @mzito, this wouldn't be a problem. Let me know if you want to do some lessons here. I am free most Sundays since there are no tournaments that day. Also, next weekend I am free. I am glad to help.
  20. @walleye, the S2 is an HO ski. There is only different sizes. The Goode Fire has inserts so no need to drill. If you want the best of the Goode skis you have to go to the Nano series, but you cant have inserts must use velcro.
  21. MC as in Monte Carlo. When I talked to Boris about 2 months ago he was going to France this summer to get production going. I know he has started advertising a little bit. I saw a nice advertisement with Manon Costard (sorry is I slaughtered that, feel free to edit @mattp). The ski looks sweet, and Boris is skiing well on it.
  22. From what I notice it depends on where the skier pulls out in relation to the settling of the boat. If they pull right after engagement it is around 34.6 or 36.4 After it settles I would say a little less. I will look for you today.
  23. @Spartanski I am late to the party here, but as @AB says I can help with Clio. We have a new 200 with a 5.7L every year, record capability course and a number to people to ski with. We are actually having a tournament this weekend if you want to come up and check it out, talk with Fred Triplett or myself about it. We are about 30 min from Clarkston, super easy drive, just straight up 75 and only 3 miles off the expressway. @mzito, I am not sure of the site in Grand Blanc, unless you are talking about Jeff Smiths lake in Gaines Twp, which is fairly close (15 min from GB). You are right about the price, they do have a new 200 every year, but they have multiple 200's throughout the year as he sells them and puts another one on the lake. Lyons is fairly hard to get into given how their club is set up. Of course feel free to DM me about any of the sites, as I know most of the guys that ski at the other sites!
  24. Pretty sure, for me, it just makes the ski faster or slower. I have never really noticed a huge change in the attitude of the ski. I tend to go less wing as the water warms up.
