  1. Nice looking boat, but no speed control?
  2. As a rough wag, you could classify it similar to this, and interpolate when less than a full pass: 15' off - 18 Handicap (Bogey Golfer) 22' - 14 Handicap 28' - 10 Handicap 32' - 6 Handicap 35' - 2 Handicap 38' - Scratch 39' - +2 41' - +4 43' - +6 I have no data or statistics to back this up...just my .02. The argument could also be made, if you consider every Wally who has ever put on a slalom ski, that any one who has completed a pass in the course is a single digit handicapper. I guess it depends on how many folks you want to consider.
  3. @Mortyski...Real names? That is awesome!
  4. Thanks guys. I'll look into it the next time we are out in the Moomba. @6balls...are you referring to shaving the rudder when you say "tuning?"
  5. Occasionally I ski behind a friend's Moomba Outback ('05...I think). The boat seems to track fairly well, so long as the driver doesn't try to make any corrections. By this, I mean the boat does not get pulled around much by the skier, but when the driver attempts to make a heading correction in the course or even counter the skier, it begins a constant struggle of oscillating between too far left....to too far right. At skiing speeds, the steering wheel seems to have about 2 or 3 inches of turn before it actually moves the rudder and impacts the course of the boat. How is the best way to fix this sloppy steering? The rudder is stock and has not been shaved or adjusted. It does not have a trim tab on it. Thanks in advance for your inputs...
  6. @Jefflyman...not familiar with that particular lake. I grew up skiing on Brant Lake, which is on the East side of 87. It sounds like your lake is quite a bit west? Either way, the Adirondacks are heaven...
  7. @jefflyman...Where exactly in the Adirondacks are you located?

But since I've contributed nothing of importance to your question...here is the link to Ski It Again. 10 biminis for sale right now. Not sure what type of boat you have, but here is a start. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Bimini_Top

Bikinis provide very little protection from the sun...
  11. @Wish...It only takes reading a handful of threads to pick up on all this!
  12. @ Taelan28...Burning bridges is usually a bad idea, except when trying to achieve certain strategic objectives in a land war. You never know when you might need a pull in the ATL one day! That said, here is my impression having lurked on this board long before I got a handle and began posting. @OB is probably not the type of dude who is offended by things posted on an internet forum...he is not waiting for you to apologize. Additionally, his passion for the sport and desire to share with others is so great that if you were to make the trek from the ROK to Atlanta one day, I'm sure he'd offer you a pull. I bet a bunch of guys down there would love to meet you.
  13. Is that @Than Bogan from 2:13 - 2:33? Funny video...
  14. Never thought I'd see @OB posting show skiing pics...Lucille must have been a heck of a gal!
  15. Great interview, but we now need you to press for more info about their lake record!
  16. Is anyone having issues with the part of the tread title that indicates whether there are new posts in it or not? For me, whether there are/are not new post is completely innaccurate/erratic.
  17. Two different events. I think KC won Boys slalom earlier in the weekend, but on Sunday, he and Zane had a head to head battle for some scholorship money. Zane won that event.
  18. Quit skiing, and sit around all day drinking beer, and you too can have one. Oh wait...you mean the flotation belt?
  19. You can "Chair Ski"...basically it amounts to running through an entire pass while at 0mph. In your mind, visualize exactly what it is that makes a good pass for you before you do it, and you'll be more likely to remember to do those things at 34, or 36mph. Start with the get up...and go from there through the entire pass. It's easier to build muscle memory when you have brain memory...
  20. @slalom_frog...My club is using an EZ slalom course that we've had in for over a year now. Though I have not personally seen the anchors, I'm told we have a small block motor anchoring one end, and the drum brake off a dump truck on the far end. I do know that we use a come along between one set of 55s and the engine block. It seems to work pretty well. Our lake is fairly sheltered from the wind, but we do have the occasional significant water level fluctuation, since we are at the mercy of the USACE (Corps of Engineers) and their flow management of a nearby dam. This sometimes results in us using the come along to adjust course tension. This is only really an issue once or twice a year. If we know about it, in the past we've sank the course by removing all buoys and letting it settle to the bottom. Maybe you could get away with this on your public lake? When the water level returns to normal, we drag a crazy looking hook contraption made out of rebar across the width of the lake to snag the mainline. We pull the mainline up and go down the line replacing buoys. This year, we didn't sink it in time, the lake flooded, and became one with the adjacent river. This ended up snapping a few arms, which we had to rebuild. To be fair, the arms broke from the current strength of the river, not just the rising water level. Long story short...We use a come along and it works well!
  21. @markchilcutt..Great videos of you and your daughter skiing. I've seen a number of videos from this ski site (in Utah...I think?). I'm always wondering how a nasty out the front would turn out here? How often does someone end up in the reeds, and how does that turn out?
  22. I was surprised it had sleeves...
  23. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the website seems to be up now. For those interested... amskis.com/layout.html
