  1. @dave2ball I believe they typically allocated 1 spot for reigning champion, 1 spot for world champion, then top 5 on the Elite List (now the Pro Tour Leaderboard) then 1 spot for the LCQ where they had to win and meet a minimum score. If say the reigning champion was also the world champion then 2 spots would be up for grabs at the LCQ. @buechsr Jump, yes. Trick would have to use the World Ranking List (as Masters has in the past for trick) because of the lack of pro events.
  2. @buechsr There has been an LCQ (singular) for some time. But only 1 or 2 spots were allocated there instead of 6 or 7 with the MQS (Masters Qualifying Series). I don’t think anyone is advocating getting rid of the LCQ, but I would be a fan of getting rid of the MQS.
  3. @buechsr No that is the World Rankings List. The World Rankings List utilizes scores from all IWWF sanctioned events regardless of whether they are pro events or not. The Elite Ranking List awarded points based on finishings at pro events and each event was weighted based on the prize purse of the event. For example: if Masters had a larger purse than Swiss Pro slalom, a skier would earn more points for winning Masters than Swiss Pro. When the Waterski Pro Tour was established, they used the framework from the Elite Points system and worked with IWWF to modify it. At this point the old Elite Point System became obsolete and IWWF stopped publishing an Elite Rankings List.
  4. @buechsr The Elite List is now the Pro Tour Leaderboard. The "Elite Rankings List" no longer exists.
  5. @LeonL There are two private lakes at the Isle of Lake Hancock development Lake Ledbetter (where the Drew Ross Ski Academy is and site of the MQS) and the HOA / ski club lake. Drew does not have a ramp on Lake Ledbetter so in prior years of the MQS, the jump portion of the event took place on the HOA / ski club lake. Given the fact that the jump portion is taking place at Sunset Lakes this year, I would assume an agreement with the HOA / ski club could not be reached.
  6. @Cooper_Trelawney Jake is 16
  7. @jpwhit The Infinity ZX-1 is a V-Drive with a center mounted engine.
  8. @RobHazelwood This is correct, there is only up or down. The position is determined based on a matrix developed by Nautique which takes into account both speed and line length. Here is a copy that I found, not sure if it is dated or still accurate: NautiqueMicroTuners.pdf
  9. As others have mentioned, sealer may last longer but it’s a bear to get off when it starts to deteriorate. Teak oil is great in that once it gets dry you can clean up the platform easily and add a couple coats of oil.
  10. @RAWSki Correct Craft didn't move to composite stringers until 1993 😉
  11. @Mastercrafter The word micro is fitting eh?
  12. @Cooper_Trelawney Brittany Greenwood slaloms LFF and tricks RFF. Mariah Fields slaloms RFF and tricks LFF. I'm sure there are a few others.
  13. My ProStar 190 Limited was built in December of 1992, so it was one of the first boats with the Corvette LT1. If you look on the inside you can see where the motorbox was cut in half and stretched to accommodate the LT1.
  14. Likely somewhere in that 27.5" - 28" range.
  15. This was my boat. Sold it for substantially less in January of 2016.
  16. @RAWSki In a lot of ways we focused on performance and standardization. Kevco was spot on in his podcast echoing what I have been proposing for years. Pro skiing is entertainment. Period. Just like college football. Until we (organizers) accept that and start to tailor the product in a manner that increases the spectator appeal which creates more value for sponsors, I don't see much changing. The problems that we are facing with professional skiing are not unique to our sport. Major programs in college football are struggling to fill the stadium on a weekly basis. No doubt the increased production quality of broadcasts have had an effect on attendance, but our lives are also much more complex these days. There are so many other things we could be doing that the time investment required to attend events in person is less and less palatable. There are ongoing efforts to figure out what drives people to attend these football games in person, and how they can improve the in-stadium experience to help with attendance. We used to go out of way to create atmosphere at events: beer trucks, vendor tents, music on site, etc. and often made concessions to try and increase spectator appeal: four buoy courses, head to head formats (even tried in W jump at one point), announced line lengths in "feet on," freestyle jump... Now its more like a golf tournament with death by slalom.
