  1. @Drago This stipulation was likely added because many of the best skiers stopped making the trip to Melbourne after COVID due to the high costs associated with attending the event and the fact that valuable Elite points were no longer on the line which used to be needed to qualify for Masters. The field has been noticeably weak the past few years, especially when you consider that there are more events than just Men's Slalom. 🙃

  2. The fact that Nautique is not taking advantage of the chance to build suspense and interest in the event by utilizing instagram stories to follow the qualification process is perplexing. They could be doing reaction interviews as skiers qualify.

@kc Nate won both 2022 Masters and California ProAm, TGas won Botaski, and the Moomba champion did not meet the cutoff score. This meant that only 2 skiers were qualified going into the MQS tournaments. With 2 skiers qualifying during MQS 1 at Drew's this meant that only 4 of the 8 spots were filled.

Pigozzi would have qualified outright with 4@41 at MQS 2 hosted at Travers with a 5 way tie for second between Sedlmajer, Neveu, Travers, Descuns, and Ross. Based on the selection criteria posted online, any remaining spots for Masters would be filed utilizing results from MQS 2 at Jacks. I am not sure how they resolved the tie (I would assume a runoff) but there were posts on social media that Jon Travers and Adam Sedlmajer would be competing on Robin Lake.

  4. @rockdogThe 2021+ ProStar features 4 tracking fins and tracking rails that run from the first tracking fin to where the shaft exits the hull. The linkage at the rudder has also been changed in order to remove some play and create a more direct connection to the wheel.

  5. I always drive with the left hand on the wheel and right hand on the throttle or at least resting on the armrest with the throttle easily in reach.

I learned how to drive the slalom course firmly in the cruise control era (2011) but had also been driving outboard center consoles and I/Os growing up so I was used to having the left hand on the wheel and right on the throttle.

I think that using the left hand to drive allows you to feel what is going on at the other end of the rope better and helps lead to a better pull. In my experience driving with two hands generally causes one to overcorrect and react later as Horton and Bruce mentioned.

Side note: I wish the posts showed the user's poll selection like the old Vanilla Forum

  6. @HortonI tried to do some digging, but no dice.

@A_B may have some info. In a 2012 post he said "I tried to track down the original LISA unit, as it was called. Talked to Benzel, who gave me the guy's name who designed it. I called him and he said he basically threw it away, as there wasn't any commercial interest in it. This was years ago."

I did have another thought--I'd be willing to have a good fiberglass shop cut 12" off the front of a ProStar 205 and reshape/refinish it. Would probably look a bit funky but shouldn't change the performance and would get me the clearance I need in the boathouse.

I would install some drop down platform brackets wayyyyyy before I start destroying the value of the boat by going to town like Dr. Frankenstein.
