  1. I recently bought a mastercraft X7 from a fellow baller. I now use it on lakes and rivers, not private water, which have lots of sticks, logs, trees, and literally anything else you can imagine floating in it. I mostly stay in our protected course but do like to get out and free ski a bit. That said, I think I would like to have a spare prop as I just know I am going to hit something eventually. Hopefully a spare prop might save a weekend. Anyone have anything that will fit a 197 or x7. Needs to be splinned and left hand turn. I have 1:1 tranny. Acme said I should go to a 3 blade 13X12 with .08 cup. If I buy new I may go with that. But I really don't want to spend the $ right now. Anyone have anything they want to sell me?
  2. I have a high chair just like that one. I will try that out. The only problem is our little guy does not want to sit still in the boat. I think he has to be strapped in.
  3. Just picked up a shock tube today. I'm going to strap him in the car seat with a life jacket on and have him be part of the action. I can't wait to get him on the water in a year or two.
  4. I have a mastercraft x7, so I should be able to rig something up to the walk through "trap door".
  5. Hi All. I have a quick question for all of you parents who have had to deal with a youngster while skiing the course. We just got our boat and I want to get out skiing as much as possible. My wife is my driver so I need to figure out what to do with our one year old son since he is with us most of the time. When we can't find someone to come along to hold him, I need an option to keep him safe in the boat. Do you see any problems with securing his car seat to the observers seat? The issue I see with this is that it is not super east to get him out if there is an emergency. Have any of you been able to engineer a quick detach system to hold your kid in place? Any suggestions to how you all have dealt with this would be appreciated.
  6. OK, now that I have my new boat, Mastercraft X7, I need to get the right equipment for the job. I currently have a 67" Radar MPD. I am 6'3" tall and currently weigh about 210. I was 190 two years ago before our son was born. I hope to get back there sooner than later but think a 200lb sweet spot will probably work. That said, I feel like the 67" ski may be a little small. I skied the course yesterday, ran a couple 22s at 34mph, but it wasn't very pretty. I am thinking about a Vice or S2 but would consider other skis or models. What do you all think about the ski choice and most important, what size? The Vice is available all the way up to 69" while the S2 is only available in 67.5 wide at the longest. I would preferably buy something used off of ski-it-again, so trying the skis out may not be an option.
  7. Thanks you guys. This is serious stuff and we all need to be careful. I am going try really hard to look like Mr. Rodgers this season
  8. I'm going to have to look into those 24/7 hoodies and a good hat. I guess a good tan is a thing of the past. I better thin down a bit, I can't be fat and white. At least I'm not bald yet.
  9. Hi All. I know there has been a lot of talk and activity around here on the topic of skin cancer and melanoma. I recently went through a scare of my own and had to have a melanoma surgically removed from the back of my calf. The dermatologist and surgeon told me that I need to stay out of the sun and be fully clothed when in the sun with high spf sun screen on any exposed skin. I have to admit that scenario is not too appealing to me as I love the outdoors, getting a tan, and being in the boat under the sun as much as humanly possible. So my question is to you folks who have dealt with this or have knowledge about this, what do you do to protect yourselves against this sneaky killer? Skin cancer is the biggest risk we all take being involved in this sport. What can we all do to protect ourselves better without looking like Mr Rogers on the boat?
  10. Wow, thanks for all the advice. It sounds like there are alot of different opinions out there and that if the engine, transmission, and prop are all working efficiently, both engine options work quite well. Thanks for all the advice, I love this forum!
  11. Hey all. I am looking at purchasing an X7 and have some questions about engine options available. The boat I'm looking at has the 310 hp Indmar predator engine. I also see other adds touting the MCX engine. Can you educate me on the engines. Pros, cons, fuel economy, etc. Thanks!

    Boat Advice

What do you guys think about a 98 ski nautique closed bow 196 with 1500 hours, assuming all the maintenance was done. Anything specific I should look at or consider with a boat with this many hours?

I think I agree. I love the 196 and have skiied behind one alot, but given my needs, the RLX seems to fit the bill. Anyone know anybody selling one on the west coast or preferably pacific northwest? 99 or newer?

    Boat Advice

Thanks for all the advice on the boats. After alot of talk with my wife, I think we are going to stick with a open bow idea. With that being said, is the interior space in the SNOB smaller than the Response LX? Here are the boats I am looking at. Thoughts? http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Comp_Boat&postid=18221 http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Comp_Boat&postid=17076 http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Comp_Boat&postid=18009

    Boat Advice

Hi All, I am new to posting at this site, I have been a lurker for about a year now. I am looking to purchase a "new to me" boat for skiing this summer and need some advice narrowing my search. Here is a little about me. I am 33 and an avid skier. I am getting into 28 at 34mph and running it 30% of the time. Most of my skiing is done in a course on the Willamette river in Portland, OR. I currently ski behind a friends 2001 Sunsetter LXI which I like and a a 99 Sport Nautique which I don't love. I need a boat to serve my slalom addiction but one that works for the family as well. I also have a budget of around $15k. I started my skiing addiction behind my parents 99 nautique 196 and the Michigan State University waterski club 1998 prostar 190. I loved the 196 and liked the 190 except for the mechanical issues we had with it. So hear are my thoughts. I think I really need an open bow to meet the needs of family and friends. I have one child right now and another not too far off. I am looking at the snob in the 97-2001 vintage but am worried about interior space. I am also considering the response lx. Goods deals are out there for this boat. How much of a difference in skiability is there between a 97 and earlier vs a 98 and newer? Any and all opinions are welcome. I am also looking for ski buddies in the greater Portland area. If you love to ski, lets have a beer sometime and talk bouys. Thanks!!
