  1. I'd like to see if someone's got a good easy explanation of it too. When I tell people I slalom, I can see from the way they respond that most people have no idea what it is. Heck, the majority of people are surprised to learn I do it on only 1 ski!
  2. Off topic, but will the airline be reimbursing her for the broken ski?
  3. I think we should all wax our eyebrows before each set to ensure minimum drag
  4. @Skoot1123 I feel like the huge variance in the materials found in lake water would make finding a reliable equation to determine the effects of oil on a ski very difficult
  5. @Brent, Dish soap removes car wax from a car body, so I'd be willing to bet it would remove wax off the bottom of a ski too.
  6. My Radar Clinchers are holding strong after 2 seasons. The part of the glove around the Radar logo on the side of the thumb is fraying, but the actual parts of the glove that take the beating are in pristine condition
  7. Ooops, you're correct, it is the VTX. I'll be sure to inquire about the diamond hull and removable pilon
  8. Okay, so my father has said no to the Prostar and Response (stinks, I know). The dealer he went to recommended the Wakesetter VTX, apparently it's the shortest Wakesetter and doesn't have the V hull, making it the Wakesetter family's smoothest wake. I will be demoing it in a few weeks (including skiing behind it) so we'll see then what all those fancy words really mean. Anyone have suggestions on what to look for in a demo, or have experience with this boat? Please don't bother to just say "wake boats suck, get a Prostar". Trust me, i know, and I would if I could. Edited: VTX, not VLX
  9. at first I thought you were just mounting that entire aluminum plate to the ski and I was thinking, "What have you done?!?!" But now I see, it looks great! How do you like the EXO system?
  10. So, being in my early 20's, I have far less experience with boats compared to many other members of this forum. Something that surprised me is how well boats seem to hold their value compared to cars. I mean, a 20 year old 3-event boat can still fetch almost half it's original price! So looking forward to the near (or perhaps distant) future, I can see myself one day owning a boat of my own. What are some tips you guys suggest as to prolonging the life of your boat? Anything from cleaning schedules to when to replace engine parts. It just surprises me that a 1984 MC prostar can still run like butter and look like gold, but a 2000 BMW M3 has everything under the sun breaking on it.
  11. @Kelvin taking him to the local ski club is on my list of things to do. Also, I'm impressed you were able to buy a boat right out of college! This is all great advice guys, I appreciate it!
  12. @crashman I was thinking that as well. We do currently have a wedge so it'll be something familiar
  13. Okay, so an update. My father has mentioned that he is considering trading in our boat. Now, that's a big "considering", so who knows if it will actually happen. The thing is, he wants to just get a newer model Wakesetter, even though no one in my family wakeboards. How would y'all suggest trying to convince him otherwise? I'm gonna do some research and compare prices of a new Wakesetter vs a used promo boat, but I have a feeling price wont be enough to do it. Any other angles I should come at it from? I would almost rather stick with our current boat than trade up to a new Wakesetter, it's almost like adding insult to injury.
  14. HO only makes Mini, Standard, and XL sizes. Large doesn't exist (I could be wrong about old model years though).
  15. @kfennell you must hate America. Lol JK, i personally prefer no wrap, but I still can definitely see some people being all over this.
  16. @crashman you're right. I've got plenty of time left in this world, no need to worry now. @6balls maybe when I have the money...
  17. I'm having trouble understanding the "funneling" phenomenon of having a flexible arm guard. To me, it seems like if my hand is already where it would need to be to get the guard to funnel it, wouldn't that mean that my hand would still go through even if the guard wasn't there? Am I not getting something?
  18. @SkiJay that's about what I was thinking. Liability will forever keep any company from producing one.
  19. @crashman, can you your wife confirm if Zoomba helps improve ski form?
  20. I switched to Radar Pro-Locks a year or so ago and haven't had a problem with blisters since. Forearm fatigue has gone down as well.
  21. @dave_n, did you sew the mesh into the rope? It looks like it came from the factory like that!
  22. at $20-30 a piece, I could hardly use the "I don't want to spend the money" excuse in this high cost sport. I ordered mine on Monday.
  23. If money were no object? 2012 Syndicate A2 with 2012 Exo Pro bindings.
  24. What I seem to be hearing is: "Without a handle guard, injury is unlikely, and if it happens, will result in intense damage to the entire arm; a worth-while risk. With a handle guard, injury is extremely unlikely, and if it happens, will result in intense damage to the elbow and below. So we should stay away from them." I'm failing to see the logic here.
  25. Amen to that. After starting to course ski, I find it hard to keep good form when free skiing because I feel like I have no way of judging whether what I'm doing is "good" or not.
