  1. Summer of discontent, lots of boat probs this year. End of the day yesterday boat started slipping when trying to pick up a wake boarder. Trans fluid in bilge. Topped it off and idled back to ramp. Missed church this am. When I pulled the dip stick it has a small amount of air pressure. Weird that it holds air but fluid is leaking. Guessing it's leaking under load?? Checked for obvious leaks but don't see anything.
  2. The tires on the trailer now are radials and the flat was a result of the side wall failing. I am guessing that over the week it lost just enough air to build up some heat and cause the failure.
  3. @TallSkinnyGuy YEP!!! The boat sits a lot, it is out of the sun but I do not believe it has the high ply sidewall tires so we are done with that program!!! We had another flat on our previous boat about two years ago and one flat out on the road has cost us the equivalent of a set of tires. This past weekend, the pin that held the spare was bent and we could not release the spare and had to pay to have another wheel brought out to us. HUGE PITA!!!!
  4. Yep, I do not know the age of the tires, I checked them before I left, pressure and visual and they looked ok, tread was maybe 60-70% and I had a sidewall failure. As mentioned, not waiting for the other 3 ; )
  5. Hey guys! Been away for a bit, had an injury and havent skied in almost six month but happily put in several runs this past weekend. Not so happy to report I lost another tire. The other three look fine but not the least interested in dealing with another flat or quasi blow out like yesterday. I did a bit of looking around and so far its Maxxis or Greenballs, I am an avid Costco nut so that is probably my first choice. Any confirmation or other thoughts? Thanks! Doug
  6. Thanks Horton!!! I could see the envelope sticking out of the box from the street and clearly saw BALLER MAIL on the envelope! Perfect! One on the truck and will get it on the boat friday!
  7. Backfires are unspent fuel cooking off in the exhaust system. Bad plug, plug wire. Per Gregy, see if you can duplicate, if you can get it to duplicate you can systematically pull plug wires and see if you can isolate a cylinder. Could be a bad head gasket, I have not heard of this prob with indmar and think it is more likely fuel/ignition, but it is a possibility.
  8. @waternut that is exactly what I do. I like to drive and I pride myself on doing it well. I always idle the line out and reverse the boat just as it is drawing tight so the rider doesn't get that huge tug as the line draws tight. She will often give me the nod while it is still in gear so I give it a bit of throttle to set her and then roll the throttle up to about 80% and she is up. I can count on my hands the number off times she has lost the handle in the last two seasons so I am doing a buddy check to make sure I am doing my part. She is not quite as adept at drawing the line out, often gives me a good tug, but does a nice job of pulling me out.
  9. I mean I can drive the boat right down the line but I always wonder. My partner lost the handle twice when picking her up yesterday and I of course ask if I did something wrong, but now ask you guys the above question. We don't seem to talk about driving all that much?
  10. http://www.jmsonline.net/crc-06026.htm?gclid=CM_rhoqIpcECFYGTfgod1wgAcA This is the product I am using. It's nasty but seems to be working well. Won an award from a national boating association.
  11. @SusanT‌ I was properly represented and funded and was interested in buying a house and an adjacenct lot. I asked to take a couple of passes with my own boat at a time of their choosing and was told the hoa would not allow it. I subsequently met two of the owners and was happy that they were not my neighbors. I was relatively young with a fairly successful business and it wasn't the first or last time I was mistreated by people when I was buying "things". All that said, I am happy to tow a fellow baller if I can accommodate them. If you think you have a lot of visitors you should see it here, hell even you zoners come here! Lol
  12. It feels "softer" IMO but I don't think it's faster. salt this week and fresh next, see if I can tell any diff in speed.
  13. Haha AZ. I looked at a house in crystal point long time ago. Snobby would be a massive understatement. They wouldn't even let me ski the lake when I was looking at a house and a lot. No offense but they were idiots. I think I heard the word exclusive about a 100 time and I definitely felt excluded. ;-)
  14. @bassfooter‌ we are in a blue and yellow response with an aluminum tower. We usually ski Friday am give me a wave if you see us! And there are sharks on the bay. Someone from the club said they saw a nurse shark under the course when they were doing maintenance. :O
  15. I ski in saltwater. As far as the ski itself I am sure it is impervious but maybe a manufacturer can confirm or correct. I suspect my boots might degrade quicker but after two seasons I can't tell. We wash and flush everything rope vest gloves and of course the boat and trailer. We just got a newer boat and trailer and I have put anti corrosion inhibitor on it but we have only been down there the last two weekends so time will tell but previous trailers have shown almost immediate signs of exposure. So far with the new trailer being coated has shown no signs of corrosion.. We also flush the engine on the boat. 2 older boats one showed some dedragation in the headers and some metal components like the engine mounts that will show some rust but these are just superficial cosmetic things. It's definitely some
  16. @BraceMaker‌ good call on the bolts. And yeah I figured out I could do the bow blocks that way but I don't know if I have enough stuff around to hold up the back end as well. Is there any preference on the carpet our just any old indoor outdoor I can find?
  17. Only one bolt is really degraded but I will take your advice and do the hardware as well.
  18. Sounds like fab ing it up and doing the swap at the ramp would make the most sense. Thanks for the comments. I am going to use all new materials. I may re use bolts but deff new wood/carpet. The carpet on the passenger side outside bunk wore away and has been scratching the boat.
  19. So I see the guys at the boat dealer putting the boats up on blocks using a forklift, but I dont have a froklift. Any suggestions on how to get the boat off the trailer so I can redo the bunks????? I have no place to moor it. : (
  20. I have Talons and I think I leave them fairly loose. I cinch the lower string but leave the upper boot a bit loose. I skied for decades with a rear strap, but feel I have more control with the rear boot and I can actually relax my rear foot where in the past I felt I kept it tense to maintain its position on the ski. Not something you have to worry about in a boot. I also struggled getting up with double boots but now I think its actually easier.

  22. @savaiusini That sounds exactly like what I would be looking for, thanks for the tip!! Can you put me on a mailing list if you have blems or promos or anything of that sort? I was planning to try and steal something off of skiitagain, but if I can get a good off season deal, I may buy a new one. Thanks again asmith6565@gmail.com
