  1. @cusefan that would be typical of the river here. They are more interested in people drinking and I couldnt imagine them going to the trouble of seeing whether or not it was an approved vest. All said, I want/need the bouyancy so Camaro/Eagle might not be the best for me anyway. I was just annoyed we got caught one short, and not to be a prude, just dont want to get ticketed for something like that.
  2. I would prefer a USCG, but there is no oversight on Mission Bay and while there is on teh Colorado river, I would be shocked if they actually looked to see if it was a USCG and furthermore, if I really liked the Camaro, I would buy a second one if for no other reason than to pass inspection.
  3. @Horton how long will I be treading water? Also do we have a board sponsor that has the Camo or sells good high end vests? How about this one?? http://www.perfski.com/cart.cfm?cart_action=item_info&category_guid=fdb2c46f-65bf-d230-47e9-314e529f47eb&item_guid=3416905d-5056-8800-78bf-3a0b0e16b592
  4. The "carpet" in newer boats, 90 and up are nylon and olefin and are essentially plastic. They can be damaged by bleach but are relatively impervious to cleaning solutions. Most household cleaners arent labeled, but you should be able to clean them with degreasers as strong as 12.5-13ph however, you should treat the carpet with a mildew specific cleaner (its actually a fungus) like wet and forget (name??) or moldoff (sp??) just google, not sure if I got the names correct .
  5. While skiing at the river this weekend, we were towing some friends and they were using our gear. I wasnt quite on the ball and one of them took off on a jet ski wearing my vest. He then gave it to his son who disappeared down the river. Hours later I was informed he had LOST my vest WITH the key fob for the jet ski attached. I was angry not so much at the loss, but that we spent a day and a half on the water one vest short and risked a ticket and while we are all good swimmers on a relatively narrow river, its always a safety issue even if its small. So, I didnt want to break the news to my friend that it was an expensive vest, but is it time to get a Camaro? I am 6'0" 200lbs and I do like some bouyancy in the vest. With my old one I could lay flat on my back with my ski straight up very comfortably. We skiied Fri/sat/sun on our new to us 04' response, great boat!!!
  6. All I know is that I could have easily downed 2 beers during the delay and so I support rerides as a general rule.
  7. I can tell just from the amount of chatter about the night that it is WAY OVER BLOWN. Headlights distracting a driver? Uh, if you can drive a car down a line on a freeway with lights from opposing traffic "distracting" you, one set of bobbing headlights in your periphereal vision is a pretty comical excuse for not wanting to take a pass, (I was not there of course) so maybe it looked like a landing light from a 737???? Anyway, and I think its cool Nautique wants to help, but as mentioned, no need to write a NEW book, if you havent read all of the old one.
  8. You know, you gotta wonder how they do that kind of thing. I mean you would pretty much have to run one of those things over with the little tugs they use to pull the baggage carts. Crazy, name the offending airline so we can recoil in horror next time we have to fly on one of their planes.
  9. We upgraded to a newer Response but spent a lot of time and money on this boat. It is ready to hit the water. Nice boat, happy to sell to a board member. Doug 6197721876 http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Comp_Boat&postid=29344
  10. OK we are actively looking for an 09+ with the V config. Someone mentioned that the interiors/materials looked to be of better quality in recent years, if there is any specific Model Year to look for in terms of improvements, please let me know. My brother is in Seatlle, I am in San Diego, and will will travel or ship the right boat. Thanks for the help so far.
  11. @crashman, even if it were rated for 12 that would make ME uncomfortable : ) Well it sounds like the general consensus is that it is a good boat. Wouldnt be my first pick, but I would like to support his choice
  12. He actually wants to buy a new one, although I think I talked him out of that, but a near new one. The ones we have seen have the wave plate and are certainly nice boats. The above description is excellent, sounds like you pay less, but you get less too. But hes throughly fixated on it. I wont see it much and his needs and mine are pretty different. Thanks for the feedback. He slaloms, and wants to teach his kids to ski but they LOVE TO TUBE!!! They have a new towable every year and they ride those things non stop, in fact had me pulling them with my seadoo. The layout of the V is really family friendly and would allow for evening cruises as well, I think its a 9-10 passenger boat though that seems like a lot for a 21' boat????
  13. My brother has been talking about buying a Moomba for several years and we were discussing it again. I think they are essentially wake board boats as I never hear about them on skiing forums but he is specifically interested in an outback V. He likes off brands, can afford whatever but just wants what he calls the Hyundai of tow boats??? I really dont have much info on them but would love to hear if anyone here owns one or has experience with this boat. Thanks! Doug
  14. @Hurricane, those were bad ass. I had a girlfriend who had one and the throttle was a big ass knob on the dash that you pushed in to accelerate. The wake was for shit though. Not like they had anything worth skiing on back then anyway ; )
  15. You got balls for even trying. I actually broke a rib and it was pretty horrible. I remember sneezing and dropping to my knees and shedding a few tears. I would listen to your doc and the group here, I would think 3 weeks would be minimum. I would also ask about ice/heat therapy for the bruised area and stay on an anti inflammatory. Ask around, a lot of docs will just say sit it out, but others may suggest some helpful strategies to get you on the water again. My bro is an orthopedic surgeon and will tell you most docs are pretty conservative but some sports minded physicians may help you get back on your ski a little sooner.
  16. He is asking 5300, I will probably insult him at 4000 but would probably buy it if I could get it for 4500 or less. I dont imagine anyone is beating down his door to get it, it looks funky and the boat has a pretty specific purpose and likely small audience.
  17. Its a 235 Johnson, new lower unit and he had the motor gone through before he spent the money on the lower unit and was told the head had good compression and was in good condition and the carbs were redone at the time the lower unit was installed. It has only been out a few times on the new lower unit. Says it has 250 hours on it. Yeah the micro platforms would make it hard/impossible to put the ski on, I imagine I would do it inside the boat and flop over the side.
  18. Its a Century Arabian I believe, def, not a competition tow boat, my neighbor at the lake has one, his, unlike this one, is mint and is a very cool boat.
  19. I found one and its right cheap. Watched a vid and cant see a wake. Curious if anyone can comment? Its an outboard and I am a solid 200lbs. Would be nice to have an alternate boat, the newer response I had been skiing is no longer available and would use this as a backup to the older response we have. I have been seeing some pretty hardcore guys skiing a sanger barefoot outboard for the past couple years and seems like a lotta boat for very little $$$$
  20. I know the few times I have shipped skis I did a better job than that. I just ASSUMED the box would get thrown around, dropped etc..... My bindings which you could probably drop off a cliff and come away unscathed were neatly packed in a bag of peanuts. Go figure.
  21. @skijay, that is how mine shipped as well, It was rattling around in the box with only the bag around it. It did not have a mark on it and had been shipped from conelly>dealer>to me.
  22. Its pretty bent, maybe 25 to 30 degrees off center. Should I take it off and try to pound it straight or just chuck it and get a new one? I googled but only found one on ebay, looks pretty generic for $93 is that a good deal???? Would like if someone could tell me a part number or if I could support a vendor. Thanks in advance! Doug
  23. I felt like the 11' I skied was more stabler (LOL) than my 12' . I dont know what the 12' weighs but it is light in the water. It actually floats.
  24. Nice work Connelly, it looks like an HO syndicate : )
