  1. Financially, and I am really hardcore about vehicle purchases, this is in my opinion the most logical and financially prudent way to aquire a "certified pre-owned" boat and hope you can find someone who will cooperate and let you pic color/options. If it were something I was considering, it is exactly what I would try to do.
  2. So I got it, let my cat jump around on the boxes for a little bit, then opened the boxes. I scanned the deck and the bottom of the ski under a light, nary a mark on it, but does look like its been on the rack for a year, its a 2012 model afterall, but it is really cool looking, thought the throwback wood (hook) graphic was not that cool in the pics, but in hand it looks good, you cant see the carbon weave very well in the pics and it looks VERY cool. Talon boots smell like Made in China, boo, but the fit and finish is great (as is the ski) and they are easy to get in and out of and feel like they will be comfy. VERY excited, I buy and sell cars and am getting not one but two Harley's this week and WAY more excited about this ski!!!
  3. Not plausible it is a great idea. If you were buying a new promo boat knowing full well that you were going to sell it at end of season, having a buyer pre arranged would be the very best thing you could hope for and allowing the buyer to select the color and equipment is a no brainer. BUT BUT BUT.... that said, I would have to know you personally or have some kind of gaurantee that you would in fact buy it and I wouldn't let you pick brown and orange. : )

I am NOT buying a new boat though, I have way too much fun buying used stuff. : )

It is again a great idea and I would think you could find someone who would work with you.

  4. Is it me or..... When I was kid, it was so flippin easy to demo a ski, we would take a "new" demo out every weekend for the first month of summer than buy the one we liked best. I know my local shop will give you 100% credit for anything you buy from them and told me I could ski every stick in their shop if that is what it took to find the one I liked. If you have access and are going to shell out 5-6-700-2000 on a ski, I think its worth it.

All of the above advice is great and definitely a couple of skis worth taking a ride on. : )

  5. OK, via ebay, I grabbed a 2012 prophecy with Talon boots for 930. I am saying 700 for the stick and 230 for the boots, I think that is a great deal. Thanks to my bro Jeff for not only providing a tow boat, but doubling down and letting me ride his prophecy while I waited out a deal, I love to ski but my ski buds are the real reason I ski. : )
  6. OK I know which ski I want, I have found a "good" price however I keep hearing that I should wait because I am buying a 2012 and the 2013 is days or a week away. A lot of skiers' seasons are coming to an end, so lots of downward pressure on pricing, what is the optimum time to buy???? The two "deals" I have found are both from ski shops. I have access to the 2011 model, that is what I am skiing on now so I can hold off a bit longer and still have a good stick to use.
  7. I would like to know what the spread of talent is on the site. Do we have a bunch of hacks like me, or is the site skewed towards an advanced/pro skill level? Will the pros be put out by lack of a structured tourney and conversely will the amateurs get lost/intimidated/bored watching and possibly sitting out competitive passes? I agree you will not please everyone, but I bet you can get close.

@Horton, I am going to give myself a 2 out of 6 balls rating in my sig and maybe others can follow suit. My rating is based on the fact that I can A. slalom ski and B. I can run the inside balls at 30 and 15 off. It would be great if everyone would join and give us all an idea of what our skiing ability really is.
