  1. @Jody_Seal it is tempting, I'll be honest, but I don't think the grass is any greener on the other side. Any new organization will be like a SHIBU INU pump and dump. It wont last, eventually most of the regulations we are seeing will come into play if a new organization has any success. And the things holding back waterskiing from growing, and I mean really growing to a level of other sports, are not safe sport, not government, not your board....it is cost and access, plain and simple. You cant fix those things on scale without billions of dollars. Our sport is what it is, expensive, elitest, and up against wake surfing and wakeboarding. Wakeboard (now wakesurf) is the #1 reason our sport changed. WE DIDNT GET OFF PUBLIC WATERS, PUBLIC WATERS STARTED WAKEBOARDING INSTEAD OF SKIING. We lost our share of watersports enthusiast b/c a better, easier, and more fun avenue arrived for water sport enthusiast, which is fine, but we told them to F off. USA snowski didn't tell snowboarders to pound sand, they incorporated them and grew together, we told wakeboard to get lost, and WWA took the ropes and now the 3 boat manufacturers don't even relate 97% of their boat sales to USA water ski and wakeboard, epic fail we will never recoup from. And let me say I was one of them that said go pound sand. USAWS/AWSA is not the main problem folks, stop blaming people. Looking forward to not being president so I can earn some Pandas :)

  3. I don't think the same person wins all the time? @Horton Hey how do I get rid of that AWSA President under my name on here?
  4. Deadline to draft is Thursday morning. 10/14 not today. You still have time to play and see how your picks do.
  5. how is asher and /or freddie not on GBR team?
  6. Drafts are open and ready for the Elite Worlds next week and the line up of skiers is INSANE! You pick 3 skiers in each event for this one with over $2,000,000 in salary cap available. This event is 2 rounds with the top 12 making it to the finals. Best fantasy advice is to pick skiers who will make the cut. www.fantasy.ski.
  7. Running Order for prelims are now posted https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OhqIWwfz-g36_zkqWMEm66HOdCLanst9_PJkPTL5LVU/edit#gid=0
  8. @Broussard is right. First we need to figure out what ur trying to fix. We don’t have an issue with nationals numbers. However I could argue it’s simply b/c it’s so easy now. In the 90’s we had 1000 skiers but still only had 1400 pulls. Now we have 700 skiers with 1400 pulls. So what’s our objective and goal with Nationals. Determine that and then design the process to get there. but like most things in our sport we won’t satisfy everyone. Way too many different mindsets in the sport and why people compete. Yes states to nationals would help get the best skiers to nationals and increase numbers but we’ll need to make it harder to get there or you’ll have a 2 week event. I still think getting rid of regionals will have more negative impacts than positive. Ideally we need to spread it all out. The travel is tough but the travel all within 2 weeks is killer. But those of us in colder states can’t start much earlier. Nationals should be much later in the season. Right now it’s half way through the peak warm months. Need a labor day Nationals but I know that doesn’t work for kids. So no I don’t know the answer but nationals is plenty big but probably doesn’t attract the true top 20 on the rankings in each division/event.

  10. ok so how about someone not skiing in the U.S. Open, all the best suggestions are skiers or coaches who will be busy at U.S. Open :)

Slalom skiers will have their choice between 2 standard ropes, either the Dlx Optimized 2.0 or the Dlx Pro Mainline. The default rope will be the Optimized 2.0. 16. We are over half way to full funding of the Nationals webcast by the waterski broadcasting company. AWSA is donating $5k, USAWS is donating $5k and each region is doing $500, we have raised another $1000 so we need to hit it hard down the home stretch to make this happen, $10-$20 is all we need from each of you. Think of it as PPV. https://www.gofundme.com/f/webcast-of-2021-goode-nationals?utm_campaign=p_cp_url&utm_medium=os&utm_source=customer Fundraising to have a professional webcast of the 2021 GOODE Nationals by the Waterski Broadcasting Company. We need to raise $25k to make it happen, lets see what we can raise to make the webcast happen. IF WE DO NOT HIT OUR GOAL OF $25,000 OR THE WEBCAST DOES NOT TAKE PLACE ALL FUNDS WILL BE REFUNDED IN FULL. Why is it more this year? Part of it is due to the 2 additional days plus a night event. The other part is that in 2020 Lodging, some camera work, and food were covered by someone other than a donation, $25k allows us to have the full production done by the Waterski broadcasting company. If we don't hit $25k there are areas we can reduce cost and still have the webcast.

  19. @Jody_Seal lets try this challenge, if awsa were to break away from USAWS, list 5 things we would not have to pay for or have regulations to if we became our own governing body? We would still need insurance, a staff, still be subject to protect our athletes against sexual abuse, etc, etc.
  20. Usaws. It’s hard to quantify what awsa gets. Nothing directly. Awsa gets the benefits that usaws provide us as the NGB. From what I’m hearing this safesport requirement is going to be something all sports will have to do in the near future. Mandated from congress not USOC. I’m going to ask HQ to perhaps list all USOC benefits. We did this about 4 years ago and it helped show the benefits. Not all the regulations we’ve seen over the years are USOC driven. Sone like MVR are insurance driven as well.
  21. @dave2ball being part of USOC has nothing to do with trying to get into the olympics, it did in the 90's not anymore. There are a lot of benefits, do they outweigh the red tape, its getting questionable, but we get over $250k in grants and others subsidies yearly now from them, our new ED has been extremely proactive in getting all the financial benefits out of the relationship.
