  1. @mfjaegersr same rosters, no other way to do that in FWs as of now, unless you create a 2nd account and join conf that way which is fine with me
  2. ok conference name is ShowMeTheMoney, password is $$$$, send $10 to surdiak@fantasywaterski.com. Lets see how many play and we can decide on winner take all or 1st-3rd.
  3. @Horton interesting, the # 1 strategy is to pick skiers who get into each round, of course now that we have made slalom worth a lot more per buoys and are awarding podium points that theory might be changed a little, but I still think you are better off having the most skiers in semi finals and finals. For example 2 guys running 35 off only in finals beats having fred winter running 41 and no second skiers score. Now moomba, remember MS and MJ have a night round so save your budget for those 2 events in my mind. And remember jacinta is skiing the mens night jump so she might be worth being the only WJ you draft
  4. @JackQ This issue is not being swept under the rug, the proper channels are handling it at the moment such as the drivers committee and the southern region. As evidence unfolds and the proper protocols are handled it will be in the hands of the folks who can start making a decision on what to do with the sanction and the officials.
  5. @MI3Eventer I think what makes that event fun is the handicap as well, skiing by handicap puts everyone in competition with everyone, the ROI on your entry fee is worth every cent. I have skied in a lot of events in my life and that team handicap event is still the most fun, the most nerves, the most competition of the season. Somehow we have to make this the way to compete, instead of just trying to attain a score.
  6. Things kick off with Momba Masters starting on March 6th, 2020. Drafts are open now. You will be selecting 3 MS, 2 MT, 2 MJ, 2 WS, 2 WT, and 1 WJ. MS, MT, MJ Round 1-all skiers Round 2-top 12 (slalom top 14) Finals-top 8 WS, WT, WJ Round 1-all skiers Round 2-top 8 (jump top 7) Finals-top 6 Men's slalom and jump will have a night event as well and women are eligible for men's night jump Whats new in 2020? -You can now sign up for text alerts for news, draft alerts, and even get alerts each time your team skiers score points. Go to your account to add phone # and select settings -We are now scoring slalom with buoys counts starting at 28 off and each buoy is now worth 8 FWS points -You can now save your team during drafting without your team being full, but only full teams will be entered, this will allow you to start your draft and come back later to finish -All skier salary values have been updated to latest IWSF rankings http://www.fantasy.ski/Account/Login
  7. @Horton @Chad_Scott tournament fees passed onto to promo guys or club boat owners is certainly probably where we are headed. We have been lucky for all these years to have boats at all events, almost to the point of taking it for granted, and when the 3 boats MF's sold 500 boats a year together it made sense for them, but now with sales down, the cut backs are happening year after year. Having to have 2-3 $100k boats to run a tournament is just another lovely factor that makes our sport so different and difficult. So unless we start selling more boats we are going to have to make it worth the 3 boats guys time and money. Of course if boats were cheaper we could sell more so that's the interesting catch 22
  8. @Horton great topic, I have stuff to add but it wont be until Sunday Night. AWSA is definitely working on the situation b/c we have to prepare for the future of hosting events as this evolves. Just FYI, right now you can host any class C event with a boat that has ZO, back to 2007 I think. That was approved about 3 years ago. I think E,L,R is now 3 year old boats.
  9. AWSA had another decent season last year. Our membership grew for the 2nd straight year and the # of events and # of tournament skiers are holding steady after years of declines. We could not do it without all of you, whether you support it on the water or off the water, as a member or not, everyone counts and matters. As we enter 2020 we are continuing to think of ways to help grow the sport so that future generations can enjoy what we all love. In an effort to do so, we are reaching out publicly to ask for volunteers on a number of new committees we are forming. Ski Rec Leagues, Marketing and Membership, Social Media, Americas Cup Staff, Safesport Coordinators, and Team Fundraising. Below is a link to a brief description of all of them and a form to volunteer. https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Help-Grow-Water-Skiing-in-2020-.html?soid=1101891240757&aid=zylysPRGCZM Thank you
  10. @Mike Gile I like it, and love competing via handicap, can you tell me exactly how golf works are send me a link to a website that tells us more about how golf handles it
  11. @unksskis good question, for the performance sign off you can do jump, for video submission I'm just trying to think how you video, we need video of the jump, boat speed and times, but then also video of the capture of the jump. Any thoughts?
  12. @MattP not really :). I did not want to elaborate on this until it was fully ready but might as well chime in now. AWSA is going to add 2 new ways for skiers to achieve class F scores. Remember these are class F and only go on rankings up to Level 5. The target market here is not your current tournament skiers but all the skiers out there not competing in tournaments. We are trying to give them a way to get involved, become members, and maybe get the itch to try a tournament. A wise baller once told me, if I'm sitting on the dock at Corys Pickos ski school and @Jody_Seal is driving and Cory Pickos is in the boat, why can I not say to them, I'm taking a tournament set. Well now you can. Like @Kelvin said you can do this in golf, you can do it in bowling, crossfit now allows you to upload videos and get signed off, the technology is there. Life is busy, people are busy, and many do not have time to attend long weekends of events, so lets give them an avenue to be involved. This is not a replacement for attending tournaments and it's certainly is not for awarding trophies. It's hopefully to get the group of guys who go out on Saturday morning to practice together excited about maybe judging each other or taking video to get a verified score up to level 5. The 2 new ways are: 1) Just like the old rating card where you could go and get signed off for an expert rating you can now get signed off by a judge on your performance. A form will be online soon that you can carry around to get signed off or you can submit your score online https://forms.gle/LhNXsTrJgTwz2CKf8 2) You can also submit a video of a slalom or trick performance to get judged online. This will also be an avenue for judges to get tournament credit if they help judge the online videos. These will eventually be submitted online at https://forms.gle/kxpA6xjaCrKsFp2HA Neither of these are ready yet but I'll take any feedback as we are developing them now. Skiers must be a $19.95 member to use these new methods.
  13. @Horton I can do that but wouldn't the scoring also need to reflect that, right now 5 foot in jump is the same as 5 buoys which I would argue is not the same? Here is what I do now Slalom 1 buoy = 2 FWS points Tricks 1 trick point = .02 FWS point Jump 1 foot = 1 FWS point
  14. @Horton world rankings is the most apparent reason, its the only way to qualify for international events
  15. Let us know any changes you'd like to see, here is whats on the agenda to have new. I'm still trying to figure out how to make slalom skiers salary caps have a larger gap, I can easily make their value 2-3 times as much and this would increase the gap but if trick and jump needs to be closely related then that just means the gap between those skiers will get even larger. I'm open to suggestions, maybe it doesn't matter if one event is close to another, in fantasy football they make QB worth more than running back and more than kickers. All I really do is increase how much each MS is worth and increase the salary cap but still score it the same, that's really no different this way but perception is reality. 1) text messaging draft reminders 2) text messaging every time your skiers ski 3) notifications when skiers are added to drafts availability 4) let user drop worst 2 scores for end of season contest 5) Show more data on past FWS pts per skiers to aide in drafting
  16. @smilinjim let me find out, I have a wierd feeling that this was passed for Judges but not drivers and scorers but I could be wrong, Ill find out. I think it was passed that drivers could get credit for driving practice before tourney in case there was not enough tourney seat time
  17. @smilinjim maybe the route is not a hardship but rather a missing credit that you deserve based on being available to drive but no seat time was available, perhaps that CD owes you credit which you have until May top clean up any missing credits
  18. @smilinjim hate to hear and see this. Happens all to often to too many. I would highly recommend you apply for a hardship ASAP, seems your situation would warrant it and you can be reinstated, I also believe that as soon as you fill that one missing requirement you go right back to being a regular and you do not have to start over. I always battle in my head with these requirements, on one hand they are good to make sure our officials are up to par and our skiers are receiving the best, on the other hand sometimes fulfilling the requirements doesn't guarantee that. You can have someone knock out their 6 requirements in 2 years never pulling anyone into short line, then you have others that are chief driving events all the time but dont have time to do 6. Personally I have had to give up my scorers rating and going after a drivers regular because it so hard to be a 3 event skiers and go after multiple 3 event officials ratings, especially in tricks where you only have 10 trickers and you are one of them and you are pinning for a few others, there is now way you are going to get calling time and driving time and scoring trick time as well. Anyways new starting in 2020 we have shifted all officials renewals to 4 year cycles in an effort to give officials more time to maintain their requirements, this way if you have a year or 2 that you are away from the sport you have a few more years to knock out your credits. I hope this will help retention down the road
  19. I think the perfect situation we should have done was 3 groups of 3 years. 10-12,13-15, 16-18 maybe.
  20. @sunperch only time will tell if it will work, I know numbers of juniors is declining now, we have to try something, i know almost all sports have gone to 1-2 year age groups so I would assume most sports have gone through this recently, I know there has been a lot of rule changes over the recent years, I'll take the blame on that for sure. I became president to try and change the sport, and although rules is not the main way to do it I felt there was a lot of ways to make the sport better through rules changes. ZBS, mini course, L10, new age groups, team skiing, gotta try right. Maybe others sports don't change rules b/c they figured it out over the years, I feel we are way behind the evolution of sport and how to adapt to today's society. Anyways anytime you do this stuff you have hundreds that love it and hundreds that hate it, cant make them all happy :)
  21. Let me just spit out some comments to above threads. This is not about giving more awards, this is actually about INCREASING competition. Having 46 b3 skiers at nationals when the bottom half is 3 passes away from top half is NOT competition. Competition does not have to come from numbers, it comes from skiers skiing close to their age and ability. We have plenty of divisions such as W7-11 that don't warrant it by numbers but warrant it by age and physiological changes, same here for 14 year olds against 17 year olds. The facts are that the # of juniors skiers is declining year after year, data shows that skiers leave the sport or do not participate in the 1st 2 years of a new division, if we can make this change so that they are competitive maybe they stay in the sport, its worth a try, in my eyes it can not hurt. No 17 year old is going to quit the sport b/c he cant ski against a 14 year old or has to ski against 20 instead of 40 at nationals, but plenty of 14 years old might quit. yes I agree we dont have #'s and I wish we did but we don't have them locally now, I'm in m3 and I have not skied against anyone in 10 years locally. most of us ski against rankings b/c its the only way to have competition until our sport realizes we need ability based skiing or a handicap system in place to add competition but I don't want to get off track on this thread
