  1. wally buoys, going on third year,do not fade.
  2. @Razorskier1 What foot forward are you and what bindings and how much do you weigh? I am 6' 1" 220 lbs use double Wileys and am LFF. I usually ski at 32.3 mph. Thanks in advance.
  3. @Razorskier I have a friend who is on a 67.5 T2 and he is skeptical that these settings work at 38 off. I told him" try it you might like it". He thinks that the turn might be to slow but trying is believing. I hope to convince him to at least give it a shot but maybe too close to Regionals. His current settings are close to yours with the exception of DFT .782
  4. @Razorskier please let us know. I have been running a .740 to .750 for awhile now. The gate shot is awsome. The acceleration of the ski cross course is great with much more space before the next bouy.
  5. @Razorskier1 thanks, shows there is more than one way to get the desired results. Thinking outside the box.
  6. @Razorskier1, just to be clear, was the "wow" for .790 or .740? Also, when you say longer do you really mean further back as in DFT? Your length, 6.829 ,is actually within normal range for this particular ski. Just a clarification. Thx
  7. Anybody riding a 68" V-type? Looking for some in the field fin settings and binding location. Thx
  8. @savaiusini What kind of lateral support do the plateless boots provide? How does your foot release from them?
  9. @Horton When you measured the DFT was it with caliper head? Was the number you used where the internal jaw hits the back of the ski which is not the actual tail of the ski because of the taper back there?
  10. @mmosley899 and @Jim Neely When you are measuring the DFT are you using the number where the caliper touches the the back of the ski which is actually a little inboard of the actual tail due to the way the ski tapers in the back?
  11. @Horton Hair today, gone tomorrow!!
  12. @AdamCord I think that you might really be on to something with that textured core. Many great inventions came about as a result of a mistake(just another word for a result that wasn't expected or intended).
  13. So are you guys willing to share your final binding location and fin settings??
  14. @horton. Great pics!!! Made me smile.Really nice when a plan comes together.
  15. Saw Drew Ross run 39 off twice this past Saturday at Little Mountain. The G5 is the real deal.
  16. @Horton, I finally got a chance to ride this ski in the course for the first time. I am 6' 1" and approx 218 lbs. and ski at 32 mph. My first impression is the 68.5 that I am on was very slow side to side going through the course with the current fin settings of .753 2.508 6.853 8 deg frt bndng at 30". So I am going to try making the fin shallower and adding much more length and maybe pulling it back some to make it faster and engage the front rails in the turn especially on my offside. Cross course speed is a concern and maybe I am just too heavy for this ski at 32 mph. This is a beautiful ski, graphics and fit and finish and the fin clamp is very easy to work with. I am down at Little Mountain this weekend visiting some friends and I am going to try and solicite some ski tuning advice. Do you have any suggestions?
  17. @gjohnson any luck with the G5?
  18. @ShaneH how is the G5 working? What are your latest settings and binding location?
  19. @Horton final depth 2.521 not a typo? wing 9 deg screw side up? so far offside has been a challenge.
  20. @horton I noticed on the obrien website that the frt binding on the 68.5 was 29 1/4. How did you arrive at 30"? That is a big difference. Did your fin guru suggest it? Based on the location of the inserts 29 1/4 would be challenging at best. I use Wiley bindings and have size 13 feet. Fitting the rear boot on the ski would involve some new holes. 30" works though and actually the ski feels pretty good in the course.
  21. @horton, I was looking at the obrien website and it shows dft .740 2.510 depth and length 6.740 for the 68 G5. Do you know whether the length is with tips or jaws? What were your final settings?
  22. I ski on a public lake and yes there are seawalls and yes there are rollers but I know that with a little ingenuity a system could be developed that runs along the periphery of the course that would allow boat wakes to exit the skiing area but would prevent them from returning. Just a thought.
  23. @Horton, wow this is one heck of a thread. I just want to know what ski you were riding when you ran 3 out of 5 rounds at 38 off. and.............lets not forget that there are boat drivers out there that actually hinder a skiers performance with off center driving to the opposite side of the course but then that's another issue for another thread........
  24. anybody out there on the O'brien G5??
