  1. I see some fin experiments coming @gator1
  2. Does this belong in the "unexpectedly logged out" thread?
  3. I don't think I'd like someone running one of these courses at my lake while I'm trying to sleep in!
  4. Odvarko has flair - In almost every video I have seen him feature in he has laid out a six ball like that. He'd be getting pretty good at it by now so why not show it off? Nothing wrong with a bit of showmanship to wow the spectators IMO
  5. must have been a large amount of force to bend the sequence plate like it is up front! Haha how hard do you turn!!
  6. I just do some shoulder rolls and squats in the boat. In between sets I muck around on a trampoline.
  7. @woolly110 thank! The A2 is still on the market
  8. @mattp I am running Joel's settings. I practiced keeping that trailing arm down and tight. It made me feel a lot more stable off the second wake and there was definitely a lot more width! Also I thought about staying open for longer on my onside which allowed me to get a lot more angle. @skijay thanks. My head was kinda full in this mornings sets with all the other stuff but I will definitely try standing taller across the wakes next time I am at the lake. @wish I will definitely try to turn in for the gates by engaging with my hips next time I am out. I have tried it before but sort of forgot not long after as I was working on other stuff at the time. I remember it feeling really good when I got it right and it set me up for the whole pass. At the moment the turn in looks and feels awkward. By simply trying to keep the handle in and down I went just inside 6 ball at 28 twice this morning
  9. @richarddoane make them tighter? @mattp thanks for editing it. I admit that it's a pretty bad video in giving info with the sun behind etc. I'll try to find another coming back the other way into the sun and put it on. Thanks for the advice. Edit: Here's a 36 15off vid. I'm embarrassed to upload this as it was a pretty ugly pass! But I guess it'll give you a lot to give advice on... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4l28DpAEOs&feature=youtu.be Btw @mattp I can't work out how you made the other video embed
  10. This is a 22 off pass at 36 which I got a video of in practice today. I have been working on keeping my chest facing down course on my offside turn to help with my frequent shoulder dropping (as seen on onside at 3 ball). Any pointers would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdHl27R9xdA&feature=youtu.be (Had to put it on YouTube because it wouldn't upload direct?)
  11. Another video that shows the concept at work... Horton put this one of Terry Winter on Youtube a while ago - Its so perfect its almost hypnotic!
  12. In a video of JB Faisy and Sacha Descuns you can see a lot of this going on. http://www.ballofspray.com/video/82-pro-skiers-video/1759-jb-faisy-and-sacha-descuns-video-vincent-soubiron-ski-school-team-members
  13. Even though we have no gators in NZ I'm going to have to give this one a go (might be a man eating carp). Any tips from the experienced pranksters?
  14. Are you attempting to re-enact Seth Stisher's one footed pass he did a while back?
  15. Thanks a lot for taking the time to write all that out @eleeski that's just what I need!
  16. Hey all, I have recently got a trick ski (quantum with Wiley) and have ridden it for a few sets but I am struggling with what to do next. I have managed a few side slides (been backwards once I think) and am jumping wake to wake at 14m 28kmph. What do I do now? (There are no other trick skiers near us) I have no real idea of the correct body position etc. and can't find any coaching on the internet. Any tips!? Drills etc etc... Thanks!
  17. @brody I am also on an a2 looking at a vapor. Any other notable differences/similarities between them?
  18. Have skied a whole set with the hydro gate in trick/jump soon after we got our 196 so wasn't totally used to the wake. I was mentally screaming at myself at the end of each pass to not be so stupid and soften my knees and hold the edge!
  19. Forgot to mention this earlier but in the initial stages of hull design on the ETNZ boat they needed something to pull a scale model (still very big I would imagine) through the water at a very consistent speed and in a straight line. They did a bit of research and figured that the boats that three event waterskiers use can do this. Anyway they phoned up the only NZ dealer and asked for a boat. They were loaned a 2008 SN 196 with ZO. Apparently it worked really well for them and they did all the testing in the dead of night so that nobody could see what they were up to! Anyway we were in the market for a boat and ended up getting this one! Nice to know that you own a piece of (even if its tiny) America's Cup history. And yes it's red and black! (ETNZ colours)
  20. @ejj no lawsuit - NZ is taking it on the chin (don't think they have the patience or the money). The lawsuit would have been about Oracle's use of stored energy to power it which is a no no. ETNZ didn't install the computer because they didn't have the time for testing is my understanding.
  21. @John_Brooks it was a first to nine wins format. Oracle were found to be cheating in an earlier event and so incurred a 2 race penalty meaning that they had to win 11 races.
  22. @OB surely it won't hurt at longer line lengths than 43off? No harm in giving it a go
  23. @kcswerver yes it had been commented that it looked like Nate had mucked up the glide on one of the 43off videos but in fact the twitch just before the turn in was intentional! I really can't wait to try this
